A couple stayed in early August 2014Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: Nice location, close to Old Town. And it was quiet at night.
Cons: The room-service along three days did not supply shampoo. Asking the receptionist to help with extra shampoo did not help either.
Miniature room and tiny bathroom with tired furniture and rubbish floor.

Perfectly located for a city visit.Posted Aug 2, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff, location.
Cons: Minor repairs, replace some room carpets.
Location: Brilliant for sightseeing, shops, and theatre / nightlife.
Hotel location as mentioned is excellent. Front of house, bar and restaurant staff were all very efficient and helpful and sadly had to make up for my lack of ability with the Latvian language (all were English proficient) Had bed and breakfast fare, the food was of a good standard and plentiful selection (though chef needs to learn to fry bacon) ordered an item at 10:30 in the evening from the bar menu, the food presented was exceptional for the price (impressed). Room comfort was good but cleanliness could be improved with carpet renovation and slight repair work to the bathroom bath/shower seal which allowed water to leak through to the floor (this has happened over time as evidence suggests but its simple repair work that can make all the difference) and need attention.

Excellent hotel in great location for the Old TownPosted Aug 2, 2014
Pros: Rooms were well equipped, staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was superb.
Location: The hotel is near the heart of the old town. Highlights for us were a city walking tour, and the views from the top of the tower at St Peter's Church.
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean and well equipped, with a good range of toiletries etc. There was an excellent range of food at the buffet breakfast, and a good choice of evening meals. The hotel is in a narrow street, so there are no great views, but it takes only a few minutes to walk into the heart of the old town and the river, or to the station and the market. A half-hour train journey takes you to a long sandy beach at Jurmala.

Hotel is full of charm and character. Great location. Only criticism is that breakfast could be better.

PerfectPosted Jun 26, 2014
In a word, fantastic. A spotless room with robe, slippers. Location us amazing: in the old town, across the street from a supermarket, a block from the Opera. An exceptional restaurant -- the best food I had in Latvia, inventive and beautifully prepared. The staff is outstanding! An ATM machine ate my debit card on the eve of the national holiday. Alex on the desk contacted the bank to block the card and got my through to American Express to make sure it was cancelled.

Great city!Posted May 28, 2014
Pros: Location. Comfort of hotel was very good. Breakfast.
Cons: Little softer bed.
Location: Location is great right in old city center. Walked easily to everything we wanted to see.
We really liked Riga. It is the type of smaller old city we enjoy exploring. Easily walked to the Cathedrals we wanted to see. It is a beautiful city. Really nice park to relax and enjoy. The people were friendly and we had a great dinner on one of the outdoor patio cafes. The prices of things were generally quite a bit less than the rest of our trip in Helsinki and Russia. We enjoyed just walking the narrow streets shopping and enjoying the one day we had here. Would definitely like to return. There are a couple museums we didn't get a chance to see.

Riga. Fascinating city and marvellous hotelPosted Apr 29, 2014
Pros: Location excellent. The staff were incredibly cheerful and helpful at all times, kind and polite. The room was both comfortable and clean, excellent
Cons: Maybe a bit more space to relax in the evening, I.e. A bigger bar sitting area
Location: Old city fascinating and we were in the middle of everything, St Peter's Square very close and all the important sites.
Everything went well and had a marvellous time. The weather was fabulous for late April and we saw everything we wanted to. We even had a ride on the river. The Old Vity Hotel was great.

Good but limited internet.Posted Apr 11, 2014
Service good. Location excellent. Room excellent. BUT, lack of internet wired or wireless in the rooms on 7th floor was unexpected and made the stay less productive.
