Lovely courtyard- very basic, small studio roomPosted Aug 25, 2012 on Hotels.com
Excellent secure parking was available at a small extra charge inside the lovely courtyard that housed Riga B&B. We booked a 'small apartment' and in fact got a room so small we barely had space to open our suitcases and move around. The furniture and bedding was very dated and looked nothing lik the photos online. Whilst it was great to have a kettle and fridge, the fridge was so noisy it kept us awake.... Breakfast at a local cute cafe was included with the option to have omelettes made to order, but disapointingly it included orange squash not fresh juice, also instant coffee with UHT milk and there was no cereal option.... The location was great- with a supermarket just up the road, cafes & restaurants nearby and only about 15-20 mins walk into the centre past lots of gorgeous Art Nouveau buildings! We loved Riga and were excited when we saw the outside of Riga B&B- but unfortunately rather disappointed at the price we paid for a tiny studio room not the apartment we were expecting... Little things like having to wash our cups and plates in the tiny bathroom sink and being woken by the fridge being intertmittently noisy were annoying. We stayed in a number of places on this trip and this was definitely the least value for money unfortunately :o(

B&B RigaPosted Sep 27, 2011 on Hotels.com
A very nice place indeed! I had to stay 10 days in order to adopt a child and bring him back to the U.S. B&B Riga is very child and family friendly. The room is exactly what we needed - comfortable, roomy, big windows, 3rd floor overlooking the courtyard. Of course they put us on the 3rd floor and there are no elevators but it really was no problem. Having a full breakfast each morning was outstanding. We would sleep in late and then clean up and go out the front of the hotel about 100 feet to the "Take it Easy" cafe. GREAT food. So friendly! This was our routine everyday. B&B Riga is so convenient to everything! Right down the street is the grocery store, ATM, and Tram/Bus/Trolly stops. They took very good care of us. When I return I will stay here again. I am sure I could find some things I didn't like but it really isn't important as long as I had a nice place to relax and sleep. Plus it had a small kitchen so I cooked dinner every night (even though it was a small dinner such as hotdogs, hamburgersy, ham and cheese sandwiches, etc.) You will love it. Also, very secure. You have to go through an automatic gate to leave. It has it's own code. You can also park your car inside if you have a car.

Riga B&B- clean & basicPosted Jul 6, 2011 on Hotels.com
We (4 adults and 4 kids: one extended family) stayed in the 2 larger apartments. They were very clean and OK but lacked proper blinds or curtains, which we found really difficult with young children at bed time. Although up to 4 people can fit into each apartment, when they add camp beds or you use the sofa bed, this would only be comfortable for small people or children or for a short stay! Would have been better for a couple. The kitchen in one apartment was really poorly equipped and the other was a bit better. Don't expect to be able to cater big or complex meals! The apartments are fine if smaller than we expected with only the bathroom behind a door. We enjoyed the courtyard outside for kids to muck about. Location is quite good- tram at end of street to get to centre/edge of old town within 5 minutes. Staff were good- helpful in looking after luggage and ordering taxis, also provided some local advice and googled to get answers to questions on local visitor attractions. Breakfast across the road was good- German/Latvian style with cheese, cold meat, toast, hard boiled eggs, jam, fruit and salad. The cafe had a nice atmosphere and we chatted with other guests. One word of warning- is you have mobility or visual impairment issues these apartments are probably not for you. One apartment we had was up many flights of slightly dark stairs (we are fit and found lugging bags up and down hard work), and the other was up one flight to the front door but had internal stairs between the sleeping area and bathroom/kitchen. The apartments I felt were a bit overpriced and so I was slightly disappointed hence my lack of recommendation- but hey prices fluctuate. If you were to go hotel or apartment with no breakfast route rather than B&B remember food in Riga is cheap and lovely fresh breakfast breads, fruit from the market and juice cost us under a fiver (GBP) for 8 people on the days we stayed in other accommodation so don't pay too much for its inclusion. Riga is brilliant. Really cheap. Food we found mostly very good if service a bit slow. Market is wonderful for food shopping. Excellent shopping for branded cosmetics and high quality shoes at very low prices. We had good weather. Zoo is a good day for kids. Bikes are THE way to get around and are available for rental widely. Old town and new town beautiful. Parks excellent. We took a trolley tour with recorded commentary from Dome Square for peanuts and enjoyed it. Sorry that we missed the opera season but hear it is fabulous. Museum of occupation free and good. We spent time in Liepaja, loved it and would recommend.
