Best beach front on entire beach

Loved the ocean, close to all amenities. If you like camping this is the place. Outdoor kitchens. Best beach front with papas for shade.

Our room was WAY overpriced!

Posted Feb 23, 2014 on Hotels.com
We have stayed in Mexican budget hotel rooms, happily (including some in Rincon de Guayabitos)--but have paid accordingly. There is no way this room (room 8) was worth $73.00 CDN per night. It is not that it was awful. The bed was comfortable. It was quiet and clean and the plumbing worked. It even had air conditioning. BUT, the room was tiny. Only one table app. one foot square. Like a hostel in which a family of 4 could cram in as if sleeping in a tent. It was also tent-like in that the walls were planks with spaces between as in a freight box car. Thankfully there didn't seem to be bugs. The property itself is nice but we should not have booked online, but rather have done what we have done in previous trips to RIncon de Guayabitos, seen rooms before paying. We might have even stayed in room 8, but we would have paid no more than 400 pesos ($35.00) because that is the going rate for that level of room in Mexico.

Great Location on the beach, but little else stand

Posted Feb 20, 2014
Cons: Better cleanliness, hot water, guarantee room locations.
Location: Nothing to do near by. This town is dead. I wouldn't even return with my family.
First, I found Cabinas Del Capitan while searching for a hotel on the beach IN Puerta Vallarta! Imagine my surprise when I realized days later I was now actually locked into a hotel in a sleepy town one HOUR north. Nice web targeting, Cabinas. Upon arrival they notified me that my room wasn't available, and that they would be giving me an "upgrade" to a larger room, blocks from the beach, that smelled moldy and musty. The only reason I was there was because I wanted to stay ON the beach, so this was quite the disappointment. The hotel staff was all very sweet though, and helpful in getting us to our temporary location. Another negative was having only lukewarm water...NO hot water in either location. Overall, if you have very low expectations and want to stay on the beach (but are not even guaranteed that!), in a sleepy little town that is NOT Puerta Vallarta like advertised, then the Cabinas should be sufficient.

on the beach

Pros: on the beach
Cons: I did not see much of the hotel, everything outside looked fine,I saw the dog,but I did not hear him.
Location: close to everything, you can walk,no need for a car.
They put me in their lowest end room, overlooking the road, with no balcony, it looked like a treehouse from Tom Saywer.I think there were 3 rooms like it.Very limited off street parking.I did not get much for the money I paid. The other rooms had balconies and may have been nice. Most staying here seemed to be here for a month or more and had suites. I don't think they care for someone staying only one night.

Disappointed in the room given the cost

Posted Mar 15, 2013
Pros: The caretaker Juan, who was one of the nicest people you are likely to meet.
Cons: The cost versus quality ratio. You can do much better elsewhere.
Location: The location is good, on the beach & reasonably secure compound. If you are in a suite it is fairly quiet. If you are in the"open" units it is noisy.
My wife and I were there in a suite for eight days. We had been to Guayabitos 6 times before. This hotel was significantly overpriced for the quality of the suite which was, in essence, a very minimally equipped large bedroom. A sidewalk for the hotel storage yard was immediately beside our bedroom window so not only was that our view, stored equipment, but there was no privacy given the traffic back and forth. We had to keep the curtains closed. Because of its layout, the suite was very dark inside and "lights on" during the day was mandatory to find things. While it was clean, that is true of almost all other hotels in Guayabitos. For the same money you can do much better, or for a fair bit less get the same or similar quality. To add insult to injury, the owner doubled booked our suit for the first night and put us in the hotel broom closet. I had to bargain pretty hard to get a small refund on the cost difference. Because I paid Expedia in full for the reservation well in advance, I had no bargaining power and had to accept what was offered to me.

Never again

Posted Mar 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
I booked this hotel several months in advance. The room I received was not up to standards and was not what I had originally booked? after complaining to the staff in the reception they only replied, "No Se?" So I stayed there the 6 days in a tiny dark stuffy room. The pool was the only thing that saved me. I will never waste my hard earned money again at this hotel. Especially when there are so many other nice hotels in Rincon Guayibitos to choose from.

An authentically Mexican traveler's retreat!

Posted Dec 28, 2012
WonderfuL all-round despite few services directly on site. It is has a homey, authentic, truly Mexican feel that would appeal more to travelers than tourists. Theft on site was an issue but likely would be anywhere.
