While visiting Costa Rica, I wanted to stay a place that was rural, not a mega resort, had amenities, had charm, and was authentic to its surroundings, and at La Anita I found this. Anna and Pablo, the owners, were on hand and were very: welcoming, engaging, accommodating, and helpful. I regret that I didn't rent a 4x4, which I recommend, at the LIR, but the owners of La Anita arranged transportation and payment for me from LIR to La Anita, a day excursion to a national park, and then on to my next destination...The meals I ate at La Anita were delicious, organic, homemade, and genuine to Coast Rica. Being a solo traveler I also enjoyed that their dinning was semi-family style as it gave me a chance to converse with other guests. La Anita is a working cacao farm and offers a tour of its cacao production. This tour was absolutely worth it just for the chocolate tasting alone! Honestly, I also enjoyed just walking around the beautiful grounds.
