Close to CopacabanaPosted Dec 2, 2012 on Hotels.com
Hotels in Rio are NOT cheap & this was one of the cheapest ones we could find in the Copacabana neighbourhood & we could absolutely not fault it's location, very close to Copacabana beach & the metro station & loads of restaraunts & bars nearby & we felt safe walking around the area @ night. That said, our room faced out on to the street & to say it was noisy would be a huge understatment, constant traffic noise & also plenty of construction noise going on & seem to pick the bins up @ midnight every night, which could jolt the deepest sleeper! Air con also very noisy, but totally neccessary. View from rom was amazin, straight over to Sugar Loaf Mountain & amazing views from the rooftop pool too, though it isn't a huge area for quite a large hotel. Also, not quite clean enough for me, but adequate. Breakfast was good, nice selection, but again, tables weren't kept clean enough for my liking! If you don't mind the noise, go for it, but if you do, I would stay away. However, for the prices in Rio, I think you could pay more & get less potentially.

Great TimePosted Sep 15, 2012
Location: Great Location within walking distant to centre and beah
When we arrived there were a few issues but this was soon sorted. As the first night because of the issues we were upgraded to a different room and were extremely happy with the room. The staff were very helpful - breakfast always looked fresh and had plenty so no one had to scrap the bottom of the barrel . the only thing that was not quite write was the the pool area although it looked great the spa pool the water was murky and the swimming pool the filters were not working OK to go in but do not put your head under the water. Very central walking distant to the beach and centre great eating places

Disappointing Hotel in a Great LocationPosted Aug 26, 2012
Positives: This hotel is in a great location just 3 blocks away from Copacabana beach. The neighborhood seemed safe, even at night. The hotel staff was friendly and willing to help us book our daily activities. Negatives: The room was not ready upon our arrival. The bathroom was dirty and there was mold and mildew on the shower floor and curtain. The toilet was clogged and there was no hot water upon arrival. The room and sheets were not cleaned daily. We asked for a non-smoking room but it smelled of smoke and there was an ashtray in the room. The housekeeper turned off the A/C in our room everyday and the key card that kept the A/C running was missing one day. The swimming pool was filthy and the hot tub was freezing cold. There was a limited quantity and selection of food at the breakfast buffet. The food at the breakfast buffet was the same everyday and the quality was below average. There was loud construction noise for a new hotel that was being built next door everyday.

Good no frills hotelPosted Aug 4, 2012
Pros: Excellent breakfast, helpfull staff
Cons: Some aspects of the rooms could do with a bit of paint
Location: Excellent, just a few minutes from copacobana beach
Great location, friendly staff, great breakfast, rooms ok and clean though could do with updating but you get what you pay for.

Rio in March 2012Posted Mar 23, 2012
Location: 4 blocks from beach. OK. Safe area. close to restaurants and grocery stores in Copacabana.
Overall satisfied with this economical hotel. 4 blocks from beach. Breakfast was good. Fast internet but charged for. Annoyed that had to pay $4 Reals per day for safe tax? Pool on roof only about 9 feet wide by 12 feet long. Hot tub on roof not "hot" only same temp as pool? Staff were helpful. Queen size bed not queen size - only double size. Fridge in room was benefit.

Excellent location in a safe neighbourhood. Close to beach and subway. Friendly staff who spoke English and were helpful with info and tours. Restaurant good for breakfast but not other meals. Pool a bit murky. Overall a good place to stay.

New Year Holiday at Augusto's HotelPosted Jan 4, 2012 on Hotels.com
Excellent hotel accommodations and location. Full of international tourists. The breakfast is very good, although food is not replaced right away when it ends, so you gotta be patient on that. Otherwise, no major problems and very nice time at new year's holiday.

The Buzz about Augusto's CopacabanaPosted Jan 1, 2012 on Hotels.com
Location was nice and service was acceptable except for a specific complaint about a throbbing machine buzz/vibration in our 7th floor front-facing room that came from ceiling and walls and sounded like we were inside a vibrating-pulsing machine box. It came on in the late evening making it hard to relax before sleep and was uncomfortable enough to complain about. It seemed to be the accumulation of old wall mounted building air conditioners all throbbing away and making the ceiling produce a low-level buzzing vibration. The night assistant was completely unhelpful and refused to even acknowledge the existence of the noise, but later the night manager came up to at least listen for himself, apologize and explain that he couldn't really help.
