Shabby hotel but central location.Posted Sep 21, 2013
Pros: It was close to Copacabana beach and shopping area. Good central location.
Cons: Needs considerable investment to bring facilities up to date and in working order. Consistent customer service and a bit of friendliness.
Location: Close to beach and shopping area. Various tours available on request.
Pleased with the location however disappinted with the hotel. Thought it was shabby. Lots of the facilities didn't work ie the phone, the safe. The swimming pool was dirty and the sauna smelled awful. The elevator broke down one day which didn't surprise us as this seemed to fit with the overall experience. The reception staff weren't the friendliest depending on which shift were working. One girl was excellent though (a portugese girl) and very helpful, some of the others were hard work. On check out the receptionist made a comment that we only spoke english and no portugese.

overall very good, friendly and helpful staff. Only negative thing is that there was some dust on the furniture so lost some cleanliness points there

Staff-not all that friendly but helpful when asked questions Breakfast-good, lots of it Bedroom-shabby. In serious need of an update and stains on the furniture. Air conditioning unit very noisy. Would recommend the hotel so long as people aren't after chic and classy living(!) as area is amazing and it didn't put a dampner on our holiday!

rooftop terrace helps ease you into RioPosted May 12, 2013
Pros: rooftop terrace and pool will ease your jetlag and you see Rio from above
Cons: bed sheets weren't clean
Location: fantastic spot close to beach shops cafes and bars
i arrived very early and check in is at 2pm but i was able to leave my suitcase with reception and spend the glorious morning on the rooftop terrace. the terrace bar was unstaffed until later in the afternoon, so wasn't able to get a drink as id hoped. on first arriving in Rio the hotels rooftop terrace and pool are a great selling point and really helpful to help your orientation with the area I had a standard room which was basic and I found the bed sheets weren't very clean. the minibar drinks prices were expensive a small bottle of water cost the same as a beer! I ordered room service which arrived quickly was good quality food well presented and good value breakfast buffet was good and constantly re stocked all the staff were friendly and helpful

Basic but incredibly clean and comfortable with very friendly staff. Safe and secure place to stay with a good range on offer for breakfast.
The hotel is overratedPosted Jan 10, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel is overrated. Rooms and bathrooms were in desperate need of renovation. The water in the sink had no pressure and the A/C was very noisy. We woke up on our first morning early from the sound of drilling and hammering in the corridor! The location was however quite convenient, the staff were friendly (as most Brazilians are), and the breakfast was fairly good.

exactly what I was looking forPosted Jan 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
For repeat trip to Rio, this time for NY eve, this was a great location for walking to beach, safe neighborhood, convenient to grocery stores and cafe's, short walk to metro stop. All hotel staff extremely friendly and helpful. Loved being able to sit on the balcony (a little small but OK) or on the roof-top terrace at night. Good breakfast selection. There was no clock in the room (which I found odd) but had no problem arranging wake-up calls.
