Only spent 2 nights.. The good first.. Hotel is on a side street to the beach.. And right next to a park also.. Staff was great.. Breakfast was decent.. Instant Hot water with really good pressure.. Sheets and room was clean.. They give you a discount coupon for a restaurant around block that is a buffet.. It was also good.. But the Rodizio across the street from it was superb.. Easy walk to beach.. And Uber, taxi, and rental bikes are easier to get out front.. Also.. The roof area is amazing view with nice little pool area and hot tub (wasnt hot) there is also a sauna that is really hot. The bad parts.. My room had electric issue.. lamps by bed and 4 of the over head lights did not work.. There is an extra cost to use the safe.. A/C is a window style unit in the wall and buzzed a bit loudly.. This is an older hotel and in truth was expected, so i can not complain to much cause the price was right for it.. Plenty of pubs, and restaurants within walking to check out..

Stay away from this hotel - unfriendly staff, bed bugs, basic amenities missing, ridiculous breakfast - have travelled to over 100 cities around the world….worst hotel experience by far!….Thank god I’m back in Toronto!….Opa!!

HORRIBLE HOTEL! bad customer service from reception (they charged an extra charge when I already paid everything to Expedia!) the hotel is very old, dark in the hallways, dirty towels. The only thing that is okay is the fact that is close to the beach, but the hotel itself is horrible.

Ok location but only for the most desperate
Lovely people work at Hotel Oceano but the facilities are not well looked after and in desperate need of a renovation. We had a terrible experience starting with a delayed check in and followed by a room covered in sand. Never did get properly cleaned. The pool has an overwhelming smell of urine. The bathrooms in the lobby are a disaster requiring one to hold their breath and pray. The elevators have a mind of their own and no safety precautions allowing them to close, for example on our 3 year old scaring her half to death. The continental breakfast is OK but the same 1 star rating as the hotel. The internet is a joke and doesn’t work. However the staff seems not surprised and tried to gaslight the user into believing there is no problem. The electricity saving measures are both ineffective and compromise safety by ensuring the halls are dark. The air conditioner cools the room after several hours but cannot be left on when not in the room, it is also insanely loud. In summary, stay away.

The hotel was okay, probably a little bit older. Although, I enjoyed breakfast with a lot of options of food and the staff was very friendly and helpful with everything I needed! If you are not looking for anything fancy I would definitely recommend.

First day the hotel receptionist told us that they need to charge extra around US $ 70 for the tax since we paid the hotel but no tax, actually we paid around US$140 per room per night, and total we paid over US$820 for 2 rooms and 3 nights , so end up after tax , we paid around US$ 900. However the condition and service of this hotel are very poor, not like the price we paid. The 1st night the whole hotel’s water system had problems, we didn’t have warm water and couldn’t flush the toilet. We complained but nothing was fixed. We only use old water for shower and the toilet was stinky whole night. The next day my son sons complained their beds were so bad and the bed were sank down when they were sleeping on, they got back hurt and couldn’t sleep well. They requested to change the beds and they agreed. However they still refused to change on the last day, until my son was very angry and required the refund, finally they changed a room for them. This was our worst experience in our life.

Good but not Great....
Staff was great. Always had someone who spoke English. Breakfast was okay. Shower and room was very nice. Only problem is housekeeping didn't change towels unless you asked. Also daily charge for use of the safe in room.

So many other options for 2 bucks more per night..
I booked this kne for the price and location and the fact there was a pool. Had I known I would have gone for some even cheaper a block away with no pool but way cleaner and more organized. The only up was the breakfast and two or three people that worked in the breakfast buffet. The rest of the employees in the front desk behaved like they were making you a favor. As soon as I entered the room it smelled so bad as cigarette I immediately went downstairs for them to change it. The towels had to be begged downstairs to be changed as they never did, all they did was to do the beds, the pool is ridiculously disgusting and small and the access is after hundreds of stairs so if you are old, cannot do stairs or in a wheelchair forget about it... really not worth it.

I stayed one day. it was very close to Copacabana. I came at 1:30 pm and I was not checked in until 3 pm. I received offer the use the pool at 15th floor, which worked for me. Hotel is in fair condition, older. The linen on the bed was very thin and the pillow cover had holes. People at the front desc were friendly and one of assistant at the door used his own cell phone to get me Uber to the airport which was very nice of him.

Hotel is close to Beach
It is like a motel in U.S, but breakfast is OK, some fresh fruits, a lot of breads, better then U.S continental breakfast. The view on top of roof is fantastic. You could see beach, and sugar loaf. There was a dip pool and jacuzzi on top of roof. I was on 11th floor, as soon as you get off elevator there was darkness, until you walk to certain section the light will on. It is save money place (from airport to this hotel cost R$ 15 by Air Conditioned bus) Room per night was R$ 228.

Rio is Amazing; the Oceano Hotel...is not! Don't believe the pictures, this hotel is bare bones, has a rude staff, and charges you nickels and dimes for everything (even the "free wifi" as advertised by hotels.com was not free, despite showing the idiotic staff the email saying so. The hotel is ok, air conditing only works when your key is in the room, tiny pool, etc. For a few dollars more I highly recommend going somewhere else.

Bad again, hotel staff at counter very rude. Do not help in anything, we asked them please to print our boarding pass and they answered that they could not help. We booked transfer for the airport the day before we leaved and it never apperared, we had to look for a taxi at 4.am which is dangerous. Hotel conditions are bad. Air conditioning makes noise and does not cool, bathroom door had a por condition, lavatory was badly cleaned, it had fungus. Matress was too old and extremely soft and pumpy

Hotel em si me surpreendeu muito, nada haver com os comentaristas que a galera faz aqui no site. Todos os funcionários me atenderam super bem, em especial a senhora do café que me fez me sentir em casa. Observação de melhoria: Colocar um antiderrapante na escada do ofurô e da piscina, pois como choveu um pouco, acabei escorregando e batendo a coluna, mas está tudo bem. Fora isso, super indico o hotel que tem uma localização privilegiada!

Excelente estadia.
Minha estadia foi excelente, funcionários bem atenciosos, hotel bem limpo, de fácil acesso e bem localizado. O hotel fica bem em frente à praia, próximo de supermercados, conveniências e restaurantes. Só o que deixa a desejar no hotel é o café da manhã, poderia ser mais diversificado.

PIOR HOTEL DO MUNDO.
NÃO SE HOSPEDEM NESTE HOTEL! Essa foi minha pior experiência em um hotel em Toda minha vida. Roupas de camas sujas, o cobertor tinha cheiro de suor, com certeza era usado. Acordei com uma barata enorme em minha cama. Cortei meu pé na chapa de aço toda amassada e pontiaguda improvisada que colocaram para esconder que a porta estava estragada. Isso acabou com minha última noite no RJ. As tomadas do quarto também não funcionavam. Isso tudo aconteceu em somente uma diária. Junto a tudo isso, próximo ao check out (ainda não era meio dia) fui solicitar na recepção uma toalha para meu colega que estava terminando o banho se secar, e o funcionário Alexandre começou a gritar comigo, falando que ia me cobrar 200 reais a mais pois eu já tinha que ter feito check out, que eu tive a manhã inteira para pedir a toalha, minhas malas estavam todas prontas, eu só precisava de uma toalha a mais pois a outra estava suja de sangue por causa do acidente da noite. O gerente ainda veio me dizer que ninguém maltrata hóspede no hotel não, sequer pediu desculpas pela situação. NÃO SE HOSPEDEM NESTE HOTEL!

O hotel está muito bem localizado, 5 minutos da praia de Copacabana mas os quartos são infestados de baratas nos móveis velhos que até a equipe na recepção fica com vergonha. O hotel tem potencial, o café da manhã é decente e os funcionários tem boas intenções, mas não justifica o preço.
