“Great location and hotel for the price”
This hotel is right on the beach. The wifi was free and reached the beach area; which was good since the additional costs of sorrounding hotels were ~$20 a day, but bad since it was very slow during busy times (anything after 5pm-1am). The service was great (they let us check-in early and were very helpful when we had questions). The free breakfast was great, just a little crowded. The tv was a fairly new flat screen and the mini-fridge had a lot of space for my groceries. The only glaring drawback was a broken AC.
“fantastic location and profetional staff.”
Fantastic location and pro staff
“old hotel”
March 9 to March 11. Checked out Mar 12. Room 702, looking to the beach. Good view, but noisy even window is closed. Her name is classic, therefore everything is old, 80 year old. Furniture is bunky, television is old, shampoo and conditioner are of lowest quality. Shower only, no plug to hold water for a bath. Toilet is slow and you have to hold the flush button to flush. Elevator is small and dark. Carpet of the hallway is old. Breakfast is so so. To conserve the electricity, every day after the room is cleaned and made up, the power is turned off, therefore, the clock is off too and the room is hot when I return. The entrance to the hotel has steps and there is no good way to take luggages inside by yourselve. Her staff helps taking them in and up to the room. She is old, tries to have some facelifts and provides good service to make up with her age. However, she charge 5.5 Reals ($US 3.6) for a bucket of ice (room service) and 20 Reals ($US 13.3) Reals for a day of internet access. Her staff is helpful and friendly.
“Very comfortable stay at Olinda”
We stayed at Olinda Othon for 3 nights around Christmas. The hotel is conveniently located, right on Copa Cabana beach. Its not luxurious but very comfortable and the thing that made the most difference for us was the super friendly staff. Everyone at the front desk was so nice, always willing to help and answer question. They had good suggestions on places to eat, booked tickets for us and once when my husband injured himself on the beach, they were so kind abut getting us to a hospital. We were a family with two kids and we couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay!. Highly recommended!

“great Rio hotel”
So you know who's writing this. My wife and I travel quite a bit for pleasure and have been to many countries. We like quiet and smallish hotels that feel at least somewhat intimate. We are not into overly fancy accommodations, but things need to be nice and clean. Location is important as I want direct access to what I am visiting the location for. I'll pay a little extra for a better view so I can enjoy the area even for the small time I'm in my room. W truly enjoyed Rio and the Olinda Othon Classic hotel. We had an ocean view room and it was one of the few with an amazing balcony - very nice. We saw a couple of the non-ocean view rooms and they were dark and dreary without the natural light we had. The location was good and the staff was friendly. I would stay there again. BUT DO NOT use the room phone for local or long distance charges. We were charged an arm and a leg for long distance (not surprising) and a ridiculous amount for local calls (completely unacceptable). We found the people in Rio to be amazing. I have rarely been somewhere with such nice and relaxed residents. I never once felt in trouble, although our Spanish didn't translate so well to Portuguese.
“Cidade Maravilhosa”
Convenient location, for the price ,amenities including breakfast, standard is above average amongst same category of Hotels and preferable for its value.
“Oh Rio”
Great place to be close to copacabana. Hotel did not have Internet service that weekend. Other than that the folks are great and the rooms are comfortable. Nice breakfast.
“Old with a fresh smell”
