Good views of beach in a tourist part of RioPosted Mar 5, 2014
We booked the delux room overlooking the ocean. Lovely view from the 8th floor but sound might be an issue if you are on the 1st floor. On the downside, the rooms are in need of updating. There was no hot water early in the morning (6am) or late at night (after 10pm). The internet was very slow but you could download emails. On the plus side, Breakfast was very good. Staff were helpful in trying to sort out a dispute with a taxi driver who ripped us off from the airport in which the tourist police were called. Very clean rooms. Next time I would stay in ipanema as copacabana is too touristy for my personal tastes. However this hotel was quite good overall. Value for money is terrible during Carnival time but that is to be expected everywhere in Rio during this period.

Expensive hotel for a dirty bathroomPosted Feb 21, 2014
Pros: Perfect location on Copacabana Beach, nice and friendly front desk staff
Cons: the bathroom!
Location: Easy to find on Copacana Beach, the nearest restaurant is just a few staps away, the nearest supermarket is just a block away.
The price wasn't cheap for a standard room. The lobby and the breakfast area is so pretty, the food selection for breakfast was absolutely okay. The window of the room faced to another building, the smell of a restaurant kitchen was a bit disturbing. The bathroom was nice about 15 years ago, but it's not so good now. The wall in the shower was disguisting, the marble on the floor is really dingy now. The air condition has ON or OFF option only, it had no remote controller

Great stay.Posted Feb 11, 2014
Location: Right on the beach lots of bars, restaurants nearby
We wanted a budget stay for 3 nights and got it with frills. Slightly old but full of character and by no means shabby. Nice room very good breakfast and helpful staff, great location right on the best beach I've ever been on. Recommend it and would love a longer stay.

Great people, nice point but old buildingPosted Feb 6, 2014
Pros: The people and the place
Cons: The building and the design of the rooms is old.
Location: In front of the beach and really near som some stores, banks, restaurants and supermarkets.
The hotel is situated in a really good point of the city right in front of Copacabana Beach and very close to Nossa Senhora de Copacabana Street where you can find some cool stores. The people of the hotel is really nice and they are willing to help all the time, actually I did lot of questions for them and they were really kind. On the other hand the hotel is a little bit old and need some remodeling, specially in some rooms and common areas. Overall I think it is a good place but it is not cheap for the kind of building it is.

Cons: A business office computer to print out my boarding pass. I was directed to a near-by cyber cafe
Location: Next to a nice beach with plenty of rental chairs and cold beer.Hotel included beach towels Lots of nearby cafes ,kiosks and restaurants
Obtained a late check out for my 10 PM flight home.

Time for a huge overhaul!!!Posted Nov 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
Great location right in the middle of Copacabana beach. But that's about it. The hotel is very tired and worn out. Carpets, fixtures, paint, tile, etc all need to be replaced-and badly. The included breakfast was decent and plentiful, but not outstanding. The hotel staff was very accommodating and pleasant. We stayed here 3 nights while passing through Rio. We didn't really explore Ipanema beach until our last day and were really sorry we didn't stay there to begin with. Aside from being on Copacabana beach, there really isn't much to get excited about with the Olinda Rio. The surrounding neighborhood is run down and not particularly inviting. Ipanema on the other hand, was much more our style- great beach and a MUCH better area to explore. We would not stay again at the Olinda Rio.

wait for a hot showerPosted Nov 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
Can't be beaten location and great staff. Breakfast OK. The big drawback is the fact tghat you have to run the shower for at least 5 min before it is hot.

On Copacabana BeachPosted Oct 29, 2013 on Hotels.com
Lobby very nice and excellent location on beach (heart of Copacabana). Room was very basic, a little below average. Overall Average rating if you take everything considered.
