“10 days in Rio”
Room had nice view and desk staff was very helpful. My room had a great ocean view.
“Rio Othon is nice but needs some upgrades.”
I had such a hard time to check in at Rio Othon Palace Hotel. First, they didn't want release my room due to missing my son and myselt document with photo identification number . I mentioned that Hotel should send me a message about it, however, they said is not their job, it would be Expedia responsability. Also, I had reserved 2 rooms with 2 beds and 1 king size. However, they said Rio Othon Palace Hotel doesn't guarantee any reservation, depend on the availability. Finally, after a lot complains, they decided to give a room as I reserved. The room wasn't that clean, the refrigerator was dirty and TV was too old. The shower drain was plugged, I had to call 3 times for the maintance, they took a long time to come to the room to unplugged it. On the check out, they were charging me for several missing snacks and drinks. However, only one snacks was taken. The Hotel is nice, but needs some updgrades.
“Love”
I enjoy this hotel every time I stay there
“it is an old hotel”
the room are old way
“Come back any time”
The hotel is situated directly on the famous Copacabana beach. It is nice, clean and well maintained. The staff was realy friendly and concierge service very effective. The room was not very big but but big enough to make you feel comfortable. The only drawback was the breakfast that was a "mass consuption" in a crowded room without any privacy. The breakfast itself was good. All in all impression was very good and I would come back anytime.
“We're going to need a bigger safe”
This would have been a pleasant stay (and an OK review) had it not been for the way the hotel chose to handle theft of two items from a closed suitcase in the closet of the room. I disocovered the items missing on the morning of checkout at the end of a four-night stay. On checkout, I mentioned the issue and then was directed to a manager. After I explained what happenend, I asked for a credit of a night's stay, since it was comparable to the cost of the "missing" items. I was told that they would take my bag back upstairs to the room and look through the bag and the room (why, I asked -- to see if you missed anything the first time?) and they would arrange so I could file a police report. Hardly the customer service I'd expect for their price point. I've made 10 trips to Brazil in the last six months and this is the first hotel of the three I've stayed at where I ran into a theft problem. The other two are smaller and offer much better service... hopefully they won't be fully booked in the future so I can return to those and avoid the Rio Othon Palace. Too bad, because the 30th floor restaurant "Skylab" is fantastic.
