“Excellent value, professional staff, good breakfast”
I have been staying here for a number of years. Although it is not directly on the beach front, it is only one street removed. The staff is professional and helpful. The rooms, though not luxurious, are well-appointed and have nice balconies. The rooftop pool and bar offer spectacular views of Copacabana. The hotel offers a very nice breakfast in the street level restaurant. The location is two blocks from the Marriott and four or five blocks from the Copacabana Palace, so it offers the same neighborhood attractions as hotels costing significantly more. I have stayed at a number of properties in Rio but have never been as satisfied as I am at the Windsor Palace.
“Great visit!”
I had read previous reviews and as most of those I was very pleased with the hotel and staff. The staff was very helpful and spoke good English. The breakfast was great with fresh fruit, cereal, fresh bread, hot food and excellent coffee!
“Good hotel chain”
Our receptionist at Windsor are great. Talk to them about anything.
“For Beach Lovers”
This hotel is excellent for a Cococabana beach vacation...however it is in a very congested, over built area and not very interesting part of Rio. If I were ever to return to I would stay in the historic downtown section.
“If I return I stay in Windsor Hotel”
It has very good service, the people in the hotel is very, very kind, and you fell you get what you expected.
“The best hotel on Copacabana beach, better than we expected!”
Windsor palace hotel was better than we expected. Great location just a few steps from Copacabana beach. Safe street. Friendly service. Clean rooms. Delicious breakfast. Great sundeck on the roof from where the New Year's fireworks looked just great. The hotel arranged us a car to the airport which was very convenient.
“Great service”
We stayed here for the New Year's holiday as it was the most affordable hotel in the area we were looking (Copacabana within easy walking distance to the beach). It seems that the double rooms were certainly larger than our single, but we weren't looking for a huge room. Our only qualm was that the walls (at least in the bathroom) were very thin so we could hear our neighbors perfectly. It was not a problem in the bedroom. There are safes, refrigerators, nice towels and new TVs in the rooms. The front desk staff was very helpful with making suggestions for outings, hailing cabs, etc. The location is fantastic - only a few blocks from Metro, a block from the beach, surrounded by shops, grocery stores, restaurants and a farmers market on Sundays. The cab fare to Ipanema is cheap (about R$10) in case you want to get to know the other beach.
“Very Impressed, Excellent Staff, Great Location.”
We stayed at this hotel in August 2011 for 5 days, before moving on to Iguazu and Sao Paulo. The staff here was amazing. Thank you to Gabriela, Wilson, Hugo, Flavio, and Daniela. Very informative on Rio's attractions and all spoke excellent English. They offered great tours for excellent prices and arranged transfers to the airport hassle-free. The bellmen were all super helpful with luggage and opening the door. The hotel is in a super location, one minute walk to Copacabana beach. Nearby are great restaurants, banks, and major avenues for shopping. One small drawback is that the room was small. We had little walking space around the bed and nowhere to put our luggage. You'll have to keep putting luggage on your bed to open and close it. Despite this, I would stay here again and I recommend this hotel to everyone!
“Great location in Copacaban”
Even though I arrived at the hotel at 10:00 am they allowed me to check in to my room. Everyone at the front desk was helpful, friendly, and spoke enough English so we could communicate. My room was small but clean with two beds. I would have preferred one large bed but this was not really a problem. The hotel uses room air conditioners instead of central air. Mine was quite noisy and I had to turn it off at night. The hotel is located in the center of Copacabana beach, one street parallel to the beach. It is about three blocks from a Metro station. The location is excellent. The buffet breakfast was very ample, served in a very pleasant room just off the lobby. There was an assortment of hot and cold items and lots of fresh fruit and numerous bakery items. It would not be possible to taste even a small sample of everything offered. This is not a four or five star hotel but the location and staff make it well worth considering.
“Great Staff and Location”
The Windsor Palace was a wonderful hotel: close to the Copacabana Beach, in a lovely, safe neighborhood with plenty of restaurants nearby. The absolute best part was the tremendous front desk staff. They answered our numerous questions, suggested places to hear live music, made all sorts of local calls for us confirming reservations and were generally just plain nice. No matter what time of day, the people at the front desk had no trouble speaking English, translating Portuguese for us and best of all KEPT US SAFE. They were quick to point out were not to go and how to safely get a cab back to the hotel and what the reasonable fare should be. Since we were three women traveling with limited Spanish and no Portuguese, their helpfulness was tremendous!
