“Good, Clean and Fairly-Priced Rio Hotel”

I have stayed in this Rio hotel several times and overal the service to very good and the room [albiet small] are clean and well maintained. The staff are very polite and eager to provide any reasonable accomodation requested. The only drawback is that the surrounding neighborhood is not the greatest but there are always taxi to take you anywhere and the proximity to the beach is only a short 2 block walk!! Overall it is one of the best "find" in an otherwise overpriced Rio!!

“Windsor Plaza Rio de Janeiro”

This hotel is close to the Copacabana beach and has all the required amenities for a family stay. The hotel caters for both tourist and business guests and the facilities cover both catogeries of guest. Rooms are clean and well kept and the staff are friendly and ready to help for any problems. They provide a garage for car parking which is a big plus in this area as parking can be extremley difficult in the beach area during the tourist season. This is a good hotel to use as a base for visiting Rio as it is close to the main tourist attractions. Overall a very good hotel.

Area recommendations

Any of the major beach areas are good bases for tourists as the facilities are all within walking distance.

“Clean with no views from the room”

Stayed only two nights. The bufet was good. The room was rather old, the comforters were dark and seemed unclean, just an impression. The matresses were hard and we could see them thru the overwahsed thin sheets. The room has a very small window overlooking the roof of other buildings. I felt so enclosed. The corridors were of nice color, of marble. The staff courteous and well uniformed. It is just that the Hotel is old. What bothered me most is the loud noise of the air conditioned, that noise over my head all night was annoying, like the engine of an airplane literally. One gets what one pays for.

Area recommendations

Copacabana is Ok considring the beautiful view, but I expected more businesses with music or more tourists attractions. Sunday was dead like most days. Just the illuminated beach with a few walkers. An interesting marathon during the day that blocked the traffic for hours. Where are the piano bars, where is the lively spirit of the nice cariocas? Is it limited to the Carnival months? Anyways, the Corcovado trip and the Sugar Loaf are wonderful views. THe beach sand is fine and clean. Rio is the most expensive place I have been and I have traveled a lot during 30 years. ( I have not been to Japan or Russia)Note that we had to spend 140 dollars for each visa. The most expensive one we have ever paid as US citizens. I don't know how much we charge to them to compare.

Getting around

Make sure at the airport ( GIG) to get a yellow taxi but please ask them to turn on the meter. Insist and insist, otherwise they will try to sell you the trip to Copacabana for 90 reals for what costs normally 40 or 45 reals max during normal traffic.

“Great Service”

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel for our first trip to Rio. The staff was very helpful and friendly and accomodated English speaking travelers well. We had requested through Expedia that a single roll-away bed be added to our room for our daughter and although it wasn't guaranteed, our room was set up exactly as we had requested when we arrived with a King Bed and the twin roll-away. We had the executive size room which offered a larger space and the room was very comfortable. The breakfast included was also a nice spread. The location is just a short walk to the beach and close to everything. I'd highly recommend the hotel.

“Two Days in Rio”

We really enjoyed our stay at the Windsor Plaza Copacabana Hotel. It was only two blocks from the Copacabana Beach, and very close to shopping, the shopping center, and wonderful restaurants. The breakfast at the Windsor was fabulous! Excellent! Rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel had a good variety of tours available for guests. We took a city tour of Rio, which included lunch, tickets to Christ the Redeemer, and the gondola to Sugar Loaf. We most definitely would return to the Windsor Plaza.

We liked the area around the Windsor. We were vigilant, as we are in any large city, but felt safe.

Must sees would be Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf. The views were amazing. Just being there was a thrill.

“Enjoyed my stay”

Very close to the beach, very cleanly hotel. Staff were always helpful. They are VERY strict on visitors, you have to put any guests on the registry for your room and pay a fee. The room was comfortable and quiet. The breakfast service was great in the morning, really good food and plenty of it. The bar food on the top floor was hit or miss. Overall very happy with my stay, and would stay there again.

Copacabana beach is great, and of course you have to visit Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf.

“If all else fails, book here.”

For the price paid I felt it was not worth it. The room was small and decoration old. Small 13 inch Tube tv set. Tiny closet so most things must remain in luggage. The gym equipement was so old it had rust on it. The hotel is 2.5 long blocks from Copacabana beach so not convenient if you have children and beach towels, umbrella and chairs. I highly recommend staying somewhere else. I will never stay there again.

Copacabana because of the hightened police presence and proximity to beach, restaurants, bars, shopping, etc.

“Very satisfied”

Personnel really helpful, very good breakfast buffet, nice pool on the roof, and really an asset a free shuttle to the airport every hour.
