"Hotel was very clean and tidy the staff we’re both friendly and helpful particularly Maya in housekeeping who helped me relocate my wife’s phone charger with no fuss although I’m sure she was busy she was willing to spend a few minutes enquiring at lost property and going to our room to find charger still plugged into socket well done Maya"

"This is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. I've stayed in a lot of hotels that cost a lot more, but were nowhere near as nice as the Grand. It is just a five-minute walk from the rail station, which was very convenient. The York city wall is literally across the street and gave wonderful views of the skyline. Easy walk into the city centre. The room was large and comfortable. The bathroom was divine - very large, beautiful marble, instant hot water. My husband and I said repeatedly that we could live there."

"Lovely room, clean and comfortable. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I ate breakfast and evening meal in the hotel, and used the hotel bar, all of which was excellent. The best location for seeing the city in my opinion. My only 'negative' comment is that, in my room, the windows overlooked the park opposite and, because off single pane sash windows which didn't close fully, with only secondary glazing over these, it was quite noisy at night as those enjoying the night life returned to hail a taxi opposite the hotel. Other rooms could well be different and a lot don't overlook the park. "
