Best location in mexico! Akumal beach resort has a huge stretch of beach and the best snorkling ever. Very laid back no frills resort. I would go again anytime. We stayed for 2 weeks and had a wonderful time!

“Akumal Beach Resort”

Long beach of very quiet water, protected by a reef. Easy and excellent snorkeling just off the beach. Good food, with an excellent and healthy choices available, but not quite an epicurian experience. Friendly, helpful and effective staff. Rooms not luxurious, but spacious and very nice. Reliable warm water in the shower and AC in the room.

“Even great for families with young kids!”

Akumal Beach Resort is a great place for everyone--even a family with very young kids as we have. The Resort offers a kids club two times a day, provides a special place in the dining hall where kids can eat dinner and watch a movie, and has "kid disco" each night at the main bar. It's also great for couples and even younger people out to party. All sorts were there. I especially appreciated the international feel--in addition to the U.S./Canada and Mexico, we met people from Italy, Spain, Germany, Sweden, the UK...The rooms aren't incredibly fancy, but the beach is AMAZING and so close to all rooms, so most of our time was spent there anyway. I highly recommend snorkeling--you can swim with sea turtles just a short walk up the beach. The staff was great--especially the entertainment crew. They get to know everyone and called our kids by name. The Resort says it has a gym, although it is just a few pieces of old, rusty equipment. That is my only complaint. We LOVED this place and look forward to going back.

“A little piece of heaven.”

This hotel is on it's way to becoming a 5 star. The staff were wonderful, friendly and helpful. The location perfect, the rooms were cleaned thoroughly and the only issue we had was the bed was a bit too firm for our liking. But we did sleep well all the same. Food was very good and plentiful. The beach was amazing and not as crazy as some other locations. Snorkeling was a big plus in this area. Would definitely recommend this. Great value for money.

“Fantastic time at Akumal Beach Resort”

The stay at ABR was perfect. It far surpassed our expectations. The staff is always smiling and will do their best to meet your needs. The beach was beautiful and cleaned every day. Snorkeling was wonderful. That is what we went for in the first place. If you are looking for fine dining and a lively night life.....this is not your place to be. This is a relaxing, quiet, attractive resort that I would love to bring my grand children to and feel totally comfortable for them to run around and enjoy themselves in a safe environment. There were a lot of folks over 55 and young families too. The food was good, the dining staff very good, and there was always something open where you could get a bite to eat. The beds were hard as rocks, however we never did get around to asking for a foam pad that we knew we could get. We always take our own comfy pillow from home, so sleep was good. We were in Building 6 first floor. This is one of two newer buildings with the superior rooms. Rarely every heard a sound except the ocean. We had an awesome view from the deck. The drinks are good. Noticed some folks brought their own big insulated cups...would do that next time. Everything was clean and cared for. There is an older section that appears to be in some stage of restoration. We wandered around there and it was lovely back in the gardens and around the old entrance. Do wander up to the little beach town of Akumal for dinner at Lol Ho. And do visit ABR.

“I heart ABR!”

My husband and I visited on our honeymoon. It was better than I could ever imagine. The snorkeling was the best. Food was great and varied from night to night. Staff was all smiles. Loved the atmosphere--not too big or crowded. Perfect balance of comfort and nature. We plan to return in the future. We recommend staying for a minimum of 8-10 days. Oh, and get a massage--they work on both the physical and energy level.

“Swimming with turtles”

We had a wonderful two weeks. The location is delightful, the staff helpful and friendly, the pool and ocean are a dream, and the food and service were splendid. It is arranged along the ocean front so that all parts share the cooling effect of the ocean breezes. It is provides a calm, pleasant, unpretentious but thoroughly satisfying getaway.
