Cozier than most, Great food.
Posted Jan 25, 2013 on Hotels.com
Smaller, cozier than the typical massive resorts so common on Riviera Maya. They do a lot of destination weddings (3 of the 4 days we were there) and outdoor pool bar gets loud at night with post-wedding parties, try to get room away from bar/lobby unless you are late partier as well. Food selection typically less than previous resorts, but so much better than anywhere else we have stayed. And who need 6000 choices for every meal anyway? Restaurants were excellent as opposed to a diversion from dining room which they sometimes only serve as. And we did not need reservations for them! Service in Mexico always amazing, but this was even better than usual.

Great family vacation
Posted Jan 24, 2012
Pros: Staff, Rooms, Food
Location: Close to the Cancun airport. Convenient to transfer, but, far enough away to be isolated.
The hotel is outstanding. Exceptionally clean. All the restaurants had very high quality, gourmet restaurant level food. Staff was very friendly and always very accommodating. We wanted to watch the Thursday football games in the bar (with English commentary) and they went out of their way to arrange it. Beach was very nice. There was a kayak to take out and they give catamaran tours and arranged a snorkeling trip to the reef, which was not too far from the hotel. The food and beverages manager, Ernesto was omnipresent, always making sure that you were satisfied and making suggestions for food and even making things that were not on the menu. He is a great ambassador for the hotel.

A PUERTO MORELOS PARADISE called AZUL BEACH HOTEL
Posted Jan 10, 2012
Pros: Oct.6-8: The Cuisine served at: the pool bar-restaurant, Wedding rehearsal dinner, wedding cocktail reception and the wedding dinner
Location: BEST DAY airport driver did not have directions to Puerto Morelos delaying our arrival by 3 hours; as he drove us to Azul Hotel in Playa del Carmen.
Our Oct.6-8, 2012 stay for the Paterson-Mosley destination wedding at The Azul Beach Hotel was wonderful.

Great hotel to relax with family.
Posted Jan 29, 2012
Pros: Staff and quality of food - sensational
Cons: Beach could be better.
Location: Easy access to airport. Safe.
My family comrpised 2 adults and 2 kids, 6 and 3 years old. Staff was excellent as was the food. Rooms generous in size and bedding was fine - pillows a bit small - we had two queen beds. Bathroom is very spacious and awesome. Pools were great, though not as large as at the mega resorts but that comes with smaller and nicer hotels. My only negative is the beach - very little sand and lots of sea grass washing up, not sure if it's seasonal.

NICE FAMILY RESORT
Posted Jan 24, 2012
Pros: ROOM,STAFF,FOOD IN SPECIALTY RESTAURANTS,COCKTAILS!
Cons: BEACH WITH LOTS AND LOTS OF SEAWEED AND STALE BREAD FOR BREAKFEST!
Location: VERY CLOSE TO AIRPORT BUT AWAY FROM EVERYTHING(45 MIN. DRIVE TO PLAYA DEL CARMEN)
Hotel is beautiful! We stayed at Junior suite and it was spotless.Staff is great.Beach is nice but I never saw more seaweed in my life.Very disappointing.I am a beach person and when I go to Caribbean I expect to be on the beach 24/7.Pools were a save, they are very well kept and clean.Cocktails were amazing!Food was very good, except for Blue restaurant which had quality of any other big all inclusive resort.Breakfest was the worst, always same food and NO FRESH BREAD!Karisma hotels pride themselves in being GI(Gourmet inclusive) but to have always stale bread is not gourmet for me.We went for a membership presentation in Sensatori, which is their sister hotel and breakfest buffet over there was outstanding and with a fresh bread station.I think Azul beach gets the leftovers from Sensatori!Overall we had a nice stay but hotel needs few tweaks to make them what they want to be and that is high end resort!

Will Not Return. Poor Service and Quality
Posted Jan 12, 2012
The checkin (and eventual checkout) process of this hotel is terrible. They will continue to promise you that your room will be ready by 3pm. Then they will ask you to go eat and walk around while waiting in the heat. We waited for over 4 hours after arriving and waited for our room to be ready. Well after 3pm, the room was finally ready. Although the room was nice, it was extremely disappointing to have waited for this time in heat and stickiness. The rooms in the newly renovated areas of the hotel are nice. The tubs and swimup rooms are nice. The lighting in the rooms is nice but the air conditioner style is the usual third world country AC unit. It takes about 30 minutes to cool the room and blows non-filtered dirty air which constantly made many people cough and let allergies run wild. The restaurants were nice in that they did not require any reservations. This was helpful in that one can change their mind at the last minute and still go to a nicer restaurant. Be prepared for many crying kids and toddlers. This is a family resort so expect this. Most kids will be enthralled by the beach and sand and pool, although the dining facilities have many children going through it. There are usually enough high chairs, but we did have to wait for a high chair twice in our week stay. Room noise next to you is very audible and the walls are paper thin. Horrible since there were drunk yellers next door til 3am; as expected, front desk did nothing after complaining.

For families only. This hotel isnot for couples

Pros: Swim up room was nice.
Cons: Kids were everywhere. Everywhere!
Location: Close to airport which was a plus. Beach was not overly scenic and was rather narrow. Just note that there is a nude beach was next door
This hotel is only for families. If you are adults without children or you don't want to spend your holiday surrounded by children do not come here. Hotel was nice and service was very good. Room was clean and well appointed. Pools were kept very clean, but were cold. Restaurants were good but not exceptional. Good quality but a little pricey for what you got.

Total family relaxation

Pros: Family-friendly REALLY all-inclusive!
Cons: shortened beach day due to weather and east-facing beach
Location: Lovely, and only about a 20 minute drive from the airport.
Azul Beach Hotel was perfect for us - grandparents, adult children and a two year old grandchild. The staff was incredibly nice, and made our grandson feel that seeing him made their day! The restaurants were all very pleasant, with good food for adults, and they all had the kids menu. The beach was lovely - calm water and plenty of room to settle ourselves in the shade. There were pools everywhere, but the best was a large kiddie pool that was about two feet deep (with a cool jacuzzi next to it!) The weather could have been better - the cool breeze and afternoon clouds (together with the east-facing beach) made for a somewhat shorter beach day than we would have liked. This is the case for all the beaches on the Yucatan peninsula. We also like the mix of people - families with children, young couples and older people. There were also several weddings during our week there - which added to the fun while not taking away from the laid back ambiance. This is not a place for loud, drunken parties, which makes it great for everybody else!

Excellent but

This is excellent hotel.Good food, stuff and facility. Especially test of food was excellent and we loved every restaurant. Only 1 problem we had regarding our room. We arrived this hotel at 13:00 but could enter our room at 16:30. Front desk people never gave us the correct information. Every time they said please wait 20 more minutes but finally we had waited for 1.5hrs!!. And our room # was 701 and I do not recommend this room. Because this room is beside of restaurant and very noisy. At first night of our staying, they have wadding ceremony until 11:00pm.And we booked swim-up suite but this room was not swim-up we expected. I recommend you to ask room # before enter and also prevent using #701.
