“Best Resort for the price”

My husband, my son and I went to Barcelo Maya Beach Resort over Christmas break. This was our first real vacation in over 7 years and we booked it a year in advance so we were more than ready for the trip this past week. The resort was more than we could of dreamed of. We upgraded to the premium club so we got an upgraded room with a view of the pool and the ocean. We literally could get from our room tot he pool and the beach in 3 minutes. The staff was extremely friendly and kind. They kept the grounds, rooms and the entire property spotless and always greeted you with a smile and a "Hola" every time you walked by them. We went at a very busy time so the chairs at the beach and the pool went fast so we learned to get up early and put our towels out on the chairs we wanted for the day. The beach in front of the Colonial and Tropical was the best. The snorkeling was amazing and my husband and son saw so many tropical fish, stingrays, sea turtles and so much more. Be sure to bring an underwater camera! The swim up bars were great and the pool was crystal clear and just absolutely beautiful. The food at the buffet and the grills were average but for the price and amount of people they have to feed that was expected. With our upgrade, we got to eat in each of the four restaurants and that was nice but the Japanese Restaurant was the best. Our chef was better than the Japanese chefs back here in the states. We highly reccomend this resort and want to go back again soon.

“Great 25th Anniversary Trip!!!”

We went for our 25th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful experience. The only suggestion I might have is to have better communications with the guests. We were not told when we checked in what was available to us at the resort. Somethings we did not find out about until our last day of the trip. Had we known earlier, we might have taken advantage of that amenity. Over all, it was very memorable and would recommend this to our friends.

We had a wonderful vacation at the Barcelo Maya Tropical hotel. The staff and food was exceptional!

“My best Vacation Ever!”

It was better than expected I will return soon. The food is great and everywhere you go there is food and drinks, the nightly show is good and the discotheque is great. If you want to control your calories while you are there I would recommend jogging or a long walk in the morning, Great place.

“Paradise on Earth, can't wait to go back!”

My 2 teens and I spent 7 nights At Barcelo Maya Beach and here are our comments in brief: - Beautiful resorts with many entertainments for kids of all ages. - Gorgeous beach; warm, quiet, with very clear water. - Snorkeling with tons of fishes (especially surgeon fish) right at the beach near Barcelo Caribe that is part of this resort (bring your own snorkeling gears or goggles would be great). - Very decent food at the buffet (for a buffet style) and if you are tired from it, you can go to the specialty restaurants that you need to reserve the day you check in. We went to both steak houses and the Japanese restaurant; the food was just succulent. When they say all inclusive it's really all inclusive; you never go thirsty or hungry in this resort. - Loved the 1hour 10 mins ATV tour that takes you to a nearby Cenote. - My teens had a blast kayaking in the sea. - Nicest staff I've seen and with so many people they have to deal with everyday, I'm just amazed they always stay courteous and helpful. - Though we can't tip every single worker there since there are so many, we did tip the ones who helped us the most (cleaning lady, servers especially at the restaurants; they work so hard to make your stay a pleasant one). - Beautiful landscape that is so well maintained daily. In brief we had the best vacation ever thanks to Barcelo and Expedia. With price this good and the outstanding service we'd go back every year. I've already tell some friends about this paradise on earth!

“Barcelo Beach ~ Tropical”

Beautiful gardens, pools, fountains, and of course the beach! Staff are cheerful and always working hard to make your stay comfortable. Food and drinks great and more than enough! Will go back! Only error we made was believing a guy at the airport that going to another resort was only an open house with breakfast...in reality it was a timeshare 3 hour dreadful presentation ...with very very very pushy people...Don't do it! We specifically asked if it was a timeshare presentation too and were told no...ignore the sales at the airport...just go straight outside and wait for a taxi, don't get help in the airport with one!

“Very Happy but expected take a rest of music”

My wife and me are was happy to stay there. Just one problem: to many music! On the swimming pool, in the restaaurants, in the lobby, etc. I'd like to listen how liking the water and how singing the birds, I'm was tired of music! Give me a chance to take a rest of it! Dancing pools, theatre is place for noisy!

“We'd Go Back Again”

Check in and check out was a bit confusing. Checked in at the Barcelo Maya Beach which is where our reservations were and was told the next day that we checked in at the wrong desk and should've checked in at the Barcelo Maya Caribe. Tried to check out at the desk we checked in at and was told we needed to go to the other desk but pickup was where we checked in at. Confused? So were we. The resort itself was emaculate. The grounds were beautiful and loved what mother nature had to offer with the rain forest type feel. Loved seeing the equana's. The beach was beautiful and the pools clean and very inviting. Looks like something you'd see on TV or in a magazine. The rooms were comfortable and clean although somewhat dated. The food for the most part was good but became repetative at the buffett. Would definitley go back again.
