"Budget hotel not too far from the beach"
Water Pressure in the shower was as weak as a dying man's pulse. Also the water stinks - but that's generally true of all hotels in Playa Del Carmen or Cancun. There was no hair dryer but when asked they did provide one. The beach is a little too far for a walk but you can take a cab for 700 pesos ($5). The complimentary breakfast includes only cereals, bread, milk and orange juice. There is no safe in the room. Hotel staff don't speak English but the receptionists do, so not a big deal.

Grand Palladium White Sand Resort & Spa All Inclusive

"Big resort good for family with young children"
We had a great time at Grand Palladium White Sands. We travelled with an infant and a toddler. We stayed in White Sands villa 52 which is right by the train stops to go to different lobbies. Walking to both lobbies are also not bad even with the kids. We spent most of our time at the beach close to Colonial because it's more accessible from the buffet restaurants compared to the beach close to White Sands. The beach at Colonial is not rocky. We snorkeled at the White Sands beach but did not see that many fish. We really enjoyed swimming at the Colonial, clean water and little waves even on a red flag day. Rooms: junior suites are big, clean and new, 2 doubles and 1 sofa bed, great for families. Towel art was great. We got one room on the bottom floor and one on the top floor. The bottom floor is great because of the strollers, but there were a lot of mosquito hanging out at the door so we had to get in and out quickly and still got mosquito in the room at night. Service: mini bar did not get refilled when we checked in, there were opened bottles. Called the housekeeper and got promised that it will be refilled but it never did. Got room serviced the next day, and still no refill even though we left tip. We eventually wrote a note and it was refilled when the room was serviced again. Staff: friendly and nice. Activities were fun and great because of the staff. Food: very good compared to other all inclusive we've been to.

"Gorgeous Hotel a true Dream Experience"
My wife and I visited Dreams Tulum for our Honeymoon. We had a great experience. The staff is over the top always friendly, the service was impeccable, the drinks were strong and delicious, and the food was insanely scrumptious. The staff went above and beyond to make our honeymoon special! We cannot wait to go back to Dreams! We stayed in a swim out suite room which was beautiful! We didn't really use the swim out much because the pool and beach were so beautiful and had so many activities to enjoy. The only issue was the mosquitoes which were everywhere!! Understandably, it's not the hotels fault but complimentary spray or the hotel getting a service to come out and spray the premises would be ideal. We were told there was heavy rain the week before and that's why they were so bad. We just sprayed ourselves up and down with Off three times a day and you can't complain really when you're in paradise! The Italian restaurant Portofino was to die for which we were thrilled because we love Italian. The Mexican food was of course delicious as well! I have to mention again how attentive the staff was. Last but not least, I have to mention the entertainment staff not only was the nightly entertainment great but they have a group of entertainment staff who are on the resort all day and night working the hourly activities, getting everyone pumped up, and introducing the nightly entertainment! They were incredible, hilarious, and made the resort over the top!

"Nice hotel in between the action"
We choose to stay in the newer part, away from the pool. It had new TVs and new beds that had 4 pillows on each bed...2 firm and 2 soft....wonderful. If I had a complaint it would only be that the beds were just a touch too soft. But 4 pillows was heaven! Security was great...had to have a key to access the elevator.

"5th at Barcelo"
This is our 5th year visiting Barcelo and 1st at the Palace and I am looking forward to many more years to come. Service was great, new improvements have made it even better and food was great! I will continue to spend my vacation there as it is the most relaxing place I've ever visited. There are so many things to do that we didn't have to leave the property.

The Royal Suites Yucatan - Adults Only - All Inclusive

Ctra Chetumal-Puerto Juarez Km, 256-100, Kantenah 77710 - Map
"Nice adult-exclusive hotel with large rooms"
We did not know that Royal Suites is one small little hotel within the large Palladium compound. We initially booked this place because we thought it would be right off the beach, but we actually needed to walk quite a bit, or take the shuttle. Finding the Royal Suites lobby in itself was difficult since there was a lack of signs of where Royal Suites is located, but we eventually found it nestled deep north of the compound. The beach here was filled with seaweed, making it difficult to get into ocean. Snorkeling here was really blah, have to go elsewhere. The rooms were large and there was even a hot tub in it. We loved the idea of a private hot tub, but ended up only using it once. The room was clean and spacious, and enjoyed it. You can go to any of the restaurants within the Palladium compound. We tried Brazilian BBQ, mediterranean food, Japanese teppanyaki, and the steak house. All the food there was pretty mediocre, our least favorite being the steak house (steaks were very tough and chewy), and our favorite being Mare Nostrum (mediterranean). You can make reservations, and we barely had any wait going in with reservations. Service is hit or miss here. We encountered some who were really awesome and accommodating, some who were just terrible, but most of them were average. Most of them really had a hard time understanding English, but with my limited Spanish, we survived. I probably wouldn't come back here, unless there's a super awesome special.

Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun All Inclusive

Carretera Federal 307 Chetumal-Cancún, Playa del Carmen 77710 - Map
"Very nice hotel, mediocre beach"
This was our third trip to the Mayan Riviera in the last two years, the first two times we stayed at Excellence Riviera Cancun. This was very comparable: not as nice in some areas but better in others. the check in was smooth, no hard sale for the vacation club. They invited us to a VIP breakfast where we would get spa credits, but I knew, politely declined and it was not brought up again. I may have been interested but I don't like the covert approach and hard sell no matter how good a deal. The hotel rooms were nice, loved the swim out suite. The toilet was separated by a clouded glass and did not provide much privacy. The shower was nice and never had water issues. The maid/turn down service was excellent. Sodas, juice, and beer were stocked in the fridge (no whiskey, tequila, wine, snickers/cookies/chips like ERC). Having the swim out made all the differences because there are no closed hours. After a night of dancing we would always take a dip to cool off at 1-2 in the morning (ERC closed all pools before supper). The beach was OK, but others appeared much better, although the staff worked hard on cleaning the seaweed. Snorkeling was awesome at ERC, not here. The service on the beach was excellence and there were always shaded loungers. The dress was more conservative here, hardly any Brazilian bikinis or thongs/cheeky. The entertainment staff/activities/shows were the best! Drinks seemed watered down, hard to catch a buzz and we don't drink a lot.
