barely the basicPosted Oct 3, 2013
Pros: near beach and cheap
Cons: molds, can't use hairdryers, roof leaking.
It was an ok place for budget traveller but accommodation is very basic and there are certain inconvenience associated with it. Things I like about this place: 1) staff and owners are very nice and friendly. We got a 1st floor room which was small and not very comfy, owner kindly upgraded us to 2nd floor room free of charge. 2) Price good and affortable. 3) within walking distantance to beach. things I don't like: 1) room roof leaking so you need to be careful where to place your stuff. 2) you can smell molds in the room, especially 1st floor room, 2nd floor rooms much less musty. 3) Can't use hairdryer in room because their electric system cannot handle it. So this is very uncomfortable.

Excellent location, personal touch !Posted Sep 23, 2013
Pros: I loved that Yeli took the time to know each guest and would happily sit down and have a chat over breakfast. I felt so welcome :)
Cons: Mattresses :)
Location: Right on the beach, short bike ride to Tulum Ruins.
Situated literally right on the beach, the My Tulum Cabanas were the perfect little getaway down in Tulum for a few days. Being eco friendly, there were no tv's or air con, just your bed, a hammock and the sea breeze. Yeli - the hotel manager - went beyond what I had expected. She would chat with me at breakfast and by the end of my stay she felt like a friend. Just a short bike ride to the Tulum Ruins and in a very peaceful section of the hotel zone. I will definitely stay here again when I'm back in the Tulum area! :)

Did Not Spend Much Time in the RoomPosted Jul 31, 2013
Pros: The beach, steps away. This place is beach-side but you must go down a narrow breezeway to get to the beach. Breakfast is good.
Cons: Less mold, ceiling fans, having running water during our entire stay would be nice. Complimentary coffee was not complimentary on the last 2 days???
Location: Beach (steps away). Tulum Mayan Ruins (10 min drive) was amazing but very crowded, get there early. Tulum city (10 min drive) shopping and restaurants
The staff is friendly when they are around but during our last 3 days we did not see much staff around. Our room was hot (which I expected for July) but also smelled very musty. The bathroom had mold on the walls and ceiling. We did not have running water during our last two days and we had to go to the hotel next door to use the toilet. The restaurant was only open for a couple hours in the morning so you are forced to eat out for the rest of the day. It is prohibited to have any food or drink in your room that is brought in from the outside. Meals and drinks near the beach are very overpriced and in my opinion not that great. Parayso next door is the best place to grab a cold beer, very nice bartender named Carlos. We hit up the Hartwood across the street and had an appetizer and a few cocktails. Not only did they add a 15% gratuity to our bill but also asked if we wanted change back after paying with a large bill. I work in service industry and usually tip 20% but I found this to be very tacky. A couple other places tried to short change us when we paid so be aware of this. We found the best places to eat were in town. I would advise getting a rental car to get around although now I am dealing with the company adding fraudulent charges to my credit card. Not to get too off topic...Tulum is amazing. We spent a couple days in Cozumel and Playa del Carmen. I would choose Tulum over these places any day! Although next time I go back I will stay somewhere else.

Nice cabanas close to the beachPosted Jun 17, 2013
Pros: Very good price for the location
Location: This is a place to relax and enjoy the sun. The Tulum archaeological ruins are near by and they are just great to visit
The cabanas are really simple and only have the basic facilities for your stay. The whole idea in this part of the country is to preserve nature and that is what they are doing. The rooms are small but have comfortable beds and mosquito nets. The water service in the area is very basic, so sometimes it is not strong enough to take a "normal" shower. The beach is just a minute away from the rooms which is very convenient. This is a place to relax and enjoy nature, not for partying.

Excellent Hotel/Rustic cabanas on the beachPosted Jun 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
Cant wait to go back to the one of the best beaches I have ever been to. A quick 50 step path and your on the beach. The owner is so nice and cooks a great breakfast including coffee for 7 dollars. A great place to get away to.

The staff is what made my stayPosted Jun 11, 2013
The staff is what made my stay great. They were so willing yo help out with anything I needed, whether it was borrowing a flashlight to making breakfast after breakfast hours to anything else. I don't think i have ever stayed at a venue where the staff was this helpful. If only more hotels were like this!!

Good valuePosted May 14, 2013
Pros: Yeli, Yeli, Yeli! And her margaritas!
Cons: The beds in our room were spring mattresses and you could feel the springs in both. A futon mattress or foam would have been better.
Location: On a nice section of beach. No designated parking, but a rental car gives access to everything; we enjoyed the remote beaches of Sian Ka'an.
Compared to the area CMT was a good value, close (50 meters) to the beach, very clean, great food and Yeli (host) is a fountain of information about the area. We researched many and stayed in 4 different places from Playa to Punta Allen, therefore we felt that CMT was fairly priced particularly for it's location.

NOT A CABANA, NOT WHAT WE EXPECTEDPosted Apr 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
Actually not too bad for the price but make no mistake, Cabanas My Tulum are not cabanas but small musty rooms 100 feet down a narrow breezeway from the beach. While the staff was friendly when they were there the office was largely untended. The room had no air conditioning or windows placed to allow a breeze at all. One small fan was included but insufficient to blow out the moldy smell when we arrived. Stuck their scented soap into back of fan as an air freshener with only a little success. Bed was huge but hard. Never actually ate at the "restaurant" as it never seemed to be open at mealtimes.
