A place to stay to visit surrounding areaPosted Apr 8, 2015
Cons: Wi fi and parking.
Location: Xcaret, Cozumel, and all the Mayan Riviera.
Great location. Near to everything on Playa del Carmen. Ideally if you are not planning to stay at the hotel all day. It is half block from the beach and very near to all night life and restaurants. Still the room is quit since they had thick windows. Wi fi is poor on the room and no parking, but those are minor issues. Good price for the location and the hotel has been restored so everything is like new.

Nice place, friendly staffPosted Mar 16, 2015
Pros: The staff was very helpful. The hotel is very clean and well-maintained. An in-room safe was provided. Plenty of hot water, nice bar fridge.
Cons: Sliding door to balcony in our room didn't lock, but this was not a problem as the hotel seemed very secure. We kept screen door open for ocean breeze
Location: This location is excellent. There are a variety of beach bars and restaurants to choose from.
My girlfriend and I stayed one week(march7 to the 14th 2015) at the Casa Melissa. We had room 355 oceanfront view and liked it very much.

Nice hotel to stay just to sleepPosted Mar 14, 2015
Nice hotel, close from the beach and from everything actually. Not noisy. The swimming pool is small but with the sea 50 meters away you don't really need it. The view from the pool isn't beautiful so I think you'd rather go to the beach instead. The staff was ok, but that's it. One repectionnist was very nice, the rest not enough welcoming at all. Like in the morning you're expecting at least from a receptionist a "good morning" or when you go to sleep a simple "have a good night". But they didn't. That's fine. I needed to call my transportation at 6:30 AM at the front desk. The receptionist was sleeping and surprised when I awaked him to give back my key's room. He also told me he was not able to lend me the phone to make my call as it didn't work (which is really funny and surprising as it properly worked when I arrived the first to make a call, he just didn't wanted to make me use the phone because maybe he I woke up him or something). So final answer was "the phone is not working". Alright. Thank you so much for your help. I'm gonna miss my flight if I cannot call my transportation. (I'm ironic). Had to ask somebody's phone in the street for my call. Thank you so much for that wonderful customer service (still ironic) and have a good night Sir behind your podium. The window door of my room was broken, it can be opened by outside even if you lock it. Safety? Are you sure? With no strongbox in the room its gonna be hard to leave my belongings in my room! No remote control

EXCELLENT !!Posted Mar 12, 2015
Location: bus stations, food 5 avenida , shops , the beach ,,,all!!
We always stay there , is not a 5 star hotel but is in the best location , only 1/2 to the bus station an a few steps to the beach . The hotel is clean and confortable , the personal is so nice and easy to talk , never had a problem , Casa Melissa is like our room in Playa del Carmen . Very nice and adorable but the best is the location !!

The beach chairs are packed like sardines. BAD !Posted Mar 5, 2015
Cons: The beach chair situation
The hotel itself is very nice. The rooms are clean and the staff is very helpful. The beach is very close. The disgusting thing is that if you want to sit in a beach chair with an umbrella then, you are subject to being packed like a sardine. Literally the chairs are so close together that I couldn't fit my feet on the side and had to get to the chair by sliding from the bottom of the chair. It is truly one of the most horrible experiences I've ever ha. I f you want to lay outon a towel and roast in the blaring sun, this is a good place, if not too bad.

LOVE ITPosted Feb 23, 2015
Pros: Affordable, clean, safe.
Cons: I think that we had wash cloths last year. They may provide them, I just didn't ask and did without.
Location: Close to everything: Beach, bus terminal, taxis, ferry, restaurants and shops.
My wife and I stayed here for 2 weeks in February 2015 and for 2 weeks in January of 2014. I like Casa Melissa because it is clean, safe, affordable, close to the beach, low key, and quiet. The staff were helpful when we asked and the room was cleaned everyday. We got up every morning, put on a pot of coffee and then sat on our deck and watched the sun come up while looking out over the beach and the beautiful Caribbean. Unfortunately, there is an abandoned trashy lot in between the hotel and the beach, but I try to ignore that. I would recommend Hotel Casa Melissa. Just don't expect a 5 star hotel.
