Great HoneymoonPosted Nov 30, 2013
Pros: Beach was incredible, honeymoon room very roomy and romantic. The food was mixed, the buffet was very good and in both our opinions the best food.
Cons: The specialty restaurants were inconsistent. Hit or miss. The only one we enjoyed thoroughly was the Mexican restaurant, pibil (pork) was delicious.
Location: We rented a car and went to Akumal, Tulum, and Playa del Carmen. Great snorkeling at Akumal and ruins at Tulum very nice. Playa so so - expensive.
It was our honeymoon so I did lots of research before choosing a place to stay. We had read the mixed reviews but honestly the things that most people complained about were not issues for us. We didn't mind that it was mostly European - we kinda liked that aspect. We are also the type of people who like to do their own thing. We found almost everyone friendly and courteous. There were a few rude people but you would find that anywhere you went for a week. Okay, here's the skinny: The staff - very friendly only had a couple of people who we couldn't communicate well with. They seemed to have happy attitudes and we were always greeted with a hola or como esta. We had a couple of communication errors but nothing of consequence. The room - honeymoon room was beautiful and comfy. Nice over-sized jacuzzi on patio and our room, 4119, was private and romantic. Kept clean and fridge restocked every day. Note: they won't clean your room if you leave anything of value out like a computer or jewelry. I think that's a good thing. Food - this was a mixed bag but we always found something decent to eat. Tip - the buffet has the best food overall and they mix it up every day. We at the The Terrace for lunch and it was good. Dinner one night in Terrace for Tapas - we would skip it next time. The Italian restaurant was okay as was the steak restaurant. The Mexican restaurant was the best of the 3 - the pibil (pork) was melt in your mouth good. Drinks were good.

Privilege check inPosted Nov 24, 2013
Pros: The staff outside of the privilege check in were perfect!!!
Cons: The Privilege check in employees were late every day that we went to speak with them- they need to be on time!
Location: Best Day travel did a great job showing the different tours. Go see Akumal beach!!!!!
We have visited this resort 4 times. The last four times have been wonderful with the exception of the last two Privilege check ins. Patricia is rude and the experience of a Privilege check in is nothing special. The check in is slower than the regular check in and the “perks” of the check in / check out experience does not exist! The hotel should simply close the Privilege check in and merge the check in process with the main desk….open an area that guests can use the computers for internet connection and it would be better. Also the Privilege check in employees were late every day that we went to speak with them.

Decent HotelPosted Nov 24, 2013
Pros: Staff were great, right on the beach.
Cons: the food at the buffet. I was not a huge fan. Definitely needed improvement.
Location: The location was decent, it was only 20-30 minutes away from the downtown area where the night clubs, restaurants, and shops were.
The hotel was fairly descent with excellent staff members and was well kept. The plus side was it was just a few steps to the beach. The only thing is yo have to walk three miles to get from the lobby to your hotel room. That was not very thrilling especially when you are hauling your luggage. Overall it was a good experience. The buffet food needs improvement.

Short staffPosted Nov 22, 2013
Nice hotel, seems to be short on wait staff. They have very small drinking glasses, suggest you bring your own unless you like waiting in line for another drink. Limited food selections.

Pros: Location. BEACH was amazing and the activities that they had.
Cons: They need to do something about that long walk from the LOBBY to the Privileged room area. They need like a golf cart or something to transport people
Location: Go to Playa Del Carmen and to the 5th ave place. awesome shops and great MEXICAN restaurants.
The hotel was great and so was the staff. The only issue for me was the LOOOONG walk from the LOBBY to our room was located in the privileged area of the place, room # 52xx. So every time we needed something from, like ATM or the restaurant, we needed to do the walk. I wished that they would have like a golf cart service specially for the elderly. Overall, the place was great. Ocean was clean, the pool was clean, the BARS were good not GREAT, because they water down the drinks. The only issue for my wife and I were bugs. She kept getting bit by mosquito's and something else. It was most likely a spider, but couldn't tell for sure. Even though we uses bug repellent that they recommended from the shop, it still didn't work.

You Can Find Better - Book Somewhere ElsePosted Nov 8, 2013
Cons: Lack of Service
Location: Good Location Between Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen
Just returned as privileged guests and not happy. The grounds and our room were okay, if you don’t need fancy. The food was eatable at best. The beach was nice. We had several issues, and will share our 2 biggest complaints. #1 SERVICE - When we received service, it was good, it's when we didn’t get any was the problem. The beach/pool bar only has one bartender. Beach service consists of one guy taking orders and making the drinks. He was nice but just one guy for all privileged guests is ridiculous. He was simply too busy, so you have to stand in a long line and wait for one bartender to make drinks for everyone at the pool and beach. # 2 EUROPEANS - There aren’t many Americans or Canadians at this resort. We like to be social and meet new people, but it was impossible because not many speak English. OTHERS - Lobby bar is hot, no fans and no service. Entertainment crew doesn’t speak English. Daily activities and shows are in foreign language. You only get a few dinning tickets per week, so you are foreced to eat at the buffet even if you upgrade. Lots of kids in the pool and no swim up bar. We will not return. You can find a better resort.

All inclusive hotelPosted Oct 30, 2013
Pros: The staff at the beach kept serving us drinks with smiles. Loved him!
Cons: Room - especially washing basin and wordrobe
Location: About 45mins taxi ride from the airport. About 5mins drive from the main drive so we did not leave the hotel during our stay.
We stayed at a privileged section which means you have more option to eat lunch and dinner plus you have access to "privileged" section at breakfast buffet and "privileged" section at beach with beach parasol. The room is fairly old but well maintained and cleaned. The staff are friendly but as some reviews state, most of the customers are Europeans and staff seem to be comfortable speaking Spanish/French/Italian rather than English. We've experienced some waiting staff greet to us in Spanish and as soon as we reply back in English the other staff comes to serve us. Nonetheless, all staff were friendly and we had a really good and relaxing holiday.
