Very Disappointing HoneymoonPosted Apr 14, 2014
Pros: Beautiful Beach Relaxing Spa Nice Pool and Fitness Center
Cons: All of the food I had was terrible. Staff was rude. Most of the staff did not speak ANY english. The upgrades are not worth the money.
Location: Xel-Ha: Had a great time here! Tulum Ruins: Nice to see the history in the area.
I paid for the Honeymoon Suite package and was very disappointed. We were given a STANDARD room with a banner on the door that said honeymooners. There is nothing you can't get for free that is included in the honeymoon package EXCEPT the 30 minute masage. Dont waste your money on the upgrade. My wife and i sat dawn at the appitizer lounge for a few drinks before our dinner on the beach and we were asked to get up and goto the bar since were werent eating right that second. My wife teared up when they asked us to move then grabbed our drinks. The staff was rude. We are typically generous tippers, but i couldnt bring myself to tip after day 1. The staff here expects tips regardless of their service. I tip when I recieve good service. I cant say i recieved any. We wont be back.

Overrated resort for middle aged, fun group!Posted Apr 13, 2014
Resort was beautiful, as a whole. Service was brutal. Food was decent. The layout was too widespread. Great place for older, retirement age people, as it's extremely quiet. Music only when there was an activity going on, prob a total of one hour a day. Only 1 waitress at pool to bring drinks to hundreds of people. Basically, expect to wait on yourself. Not a real vacation to me!!

Romantic week in the sunPosted Apr 9, 2014
Pros: Tranquility and friendly staff. Beautiful location and stunning beach, well maintained. Clean.
Cons: The Al a Carte food was poor quality. Not enough loungers. People placing their towels at 5am!
Location: Location is great. Everything you want to do is off the 307, which the hotel is situated on. We hired a car, but there are tours.
My wife and I stayed in one of the honeymoon suites and enjoyed our stay tremendously. We had booked a junior suite, but upgraded at the desk for £200. The hotel is quite and friendly, with no rowdy groups. There are some staff wandering around organising activities, but they don't hassle you. Only one beach seller who was very polite. Pool is lovely and clean. Spa is excellent. Massage good value and tranquil. It was very busy during our stay. Lots to do nearby. I drove everywhere and saved the coach hassle and tour price. For example, Coba ruins cost us about £5 to get in and took 45 minutes to drive. Petrol is cheap! Mostly older couples and smaller groups of 30-40 year olds. Mixture of European, French mostly, and American, with some others - lots of Mexican of course! The only let down for us was the food. My wife wasn't so disappointed, but I was impressed at all. The buffet breakfast was excellent, but the Al a Carte menus very poor. The dishes felt like the hotel was trying to hard to make the presentation look too snazzy and subsequently allowed the quality to slip. The menu sounds great, but when it arrives the fish is over down to chewy, the veg is mushy, and most of my meals were pretty cold. Such a shame. However, there are some decent spirits at the bar included in the AI, and like I said the buffet were actually pretty good!

Good resort, but poor management.Posted Apr 8, 2014
Pros: Good quiet hotel, well maintained.
Cons: management and overbooking is a problem.
Location: nothing nearby.
Booked the resort 3 months in advanced for 3 nights, when we get there, we are met by the hotel representative and followed the checked-in process. Once finished with the process, we are told that the hotel is 100% full and that they do not have a room for us. They will send us to another resort for the night, but will have a room for us the next day. They offer upgrades to compensate us, but what are we to say, we are stuck. A relaxing 3 night stay, became a 2 night stay with a terrible first day moving from hotel to hotel. Next day, even though we requested an early checking, the room was not ready even at the standard checking time of 3 pm. We were not the only people they did this to us, we saw multiple other couples sent away. What that tells me, is the management is doing a bad job. You cannot constantly send customers to other resorts because you overbooked or mismanaged the resort. I would not recommend the resort to friends, unless the management learns that no compensation can help with the lost day moving from hotel to hotel. We are there to relax and take the stress out of our daily life, not add to it.

Amazing vacation!Posted Mar 31, 2014
This hotel is phenomenal. Small enough that you never have to worry about finding a spot on the beach or by the pool. The food was good, entertainment was good... would recommend this to everyone.

Very nice beachPosted Mar 23, 2014
Pros: I loved the beach and the grounds are wonderful. It's very peaceful and we saw spider monkeys, coati and lizards along the paths.
Cons: Have separate entertainment for English speaking guests. Instead of the disco (which didn't seem to be used), make it a sports/music bar open at 8pm.
Location: Lots of expensive excursions you can go on but nothing in the immediate vacinity. Taxis aren't cheap and local buses are crowded and iffy.
The Hotel itself, it's grounds, the staff, the restaurants and the beach were all excellent (the beach could use a little clean up as I got a lot of sand fly bites by wading near the water). However, we stayed there for 11 nights and we were getting bored mid way through. My husband and I are not party animals but we do like a little entertainment after dinner. What was there catered to the Italians..we got up and left one comedy routine because we could not understand a word that was being said. We may have felt differently if we were in a group but it was just my husband and I and it was very hard to mingle with other guests as there is no real bar type area there. The hotel is located on the highway, about 20-30 minutes past Playa Del Carmen so there was nowhere close by to walk in the evening for any other entertainment. We did receive excellent service from the staff and the meals were for the most part very good. If you're a newly married couple that wants their privacy or if you're travelling in a group (make your own fun), this would be a wonderful hotel to stay at as it is very beautiful.
