not what was promisedPosted Nov 14, 2013
Cons: service and shuttle availability
Let me start by saying one positive thing cause that's probably all I've got that's positive...the Italian Casitas restaurant was GREAT and Jaime was an awesome waiter there but overall everywhere else the food was not good. The rooms smelled like mold along with all of our belongings once we got home and the sheets felt like sandpaper and they only offer shampoo and not conditioner. One of the shuttles kicked us off in the middle of the rain storm saying they weren't going to the other end of the hotel. We were left standing in the rain waiting for the next one and were so worried we were going to miss our reservation then once we made it to the resturant Santa Fe (on time) they said they never had our reservation in the first place and were so rude to us. The rooms only give you ONE umbrella and it rained 2 out of the 4 days we were there and due to the lack of shuttles we ended up sharing the one umbrella we had and were soaking wet everywhere we went. The spa almost lost my diamond necklace. Overall we had to ask for things more than once meaning the service in NOT 5 star, more like 3 star. We travel a lot and have been to many all inclusive adults only resorts but will not be back at this one.

Great Hotel - not the greatest view of oceanPosted Nov 1, 2013
Pros: i like the adults only selection we chose. The restaurant options were great - especially Fuentes!
Cons: Please let the guest know when checking in that they might have to make reservations at certain restaurants.
Location: We stayed on the resort and did no excursions or activities. There are many things to do - most of it very touristy if you're into that.
The hotel was amazing - wonderful service and food was delicious. The Health Bar was our favorite - fresh fruit smoothies and juices all day with the healthier choice in food options. Beach was nice - some rocks (not a lot) in certain areas so be careful. Views of the ocean was limited from the rooms. Be careful booking an OCEAN FRONT room because it's not what I expected. The front desk personnel was very accommodating to my concerns about this and put us in a different area, with some views of the ocean. WONDERFUL place to just relax and spend quality time with your lover. Two thumbs up overall if the view isn't a big factor in your vacation.

Good food and entertaining. OKPosted Oct 29, 2013
Pros: The food
Cons: The bars, they have cheap alcohol and the bar tenders switch is terrible. The drinks are not good at all.
Location: You will have to take a tour or rent a car to go anywhere outside the hotel. I will recommend to rent a car. Most things are within 2 hours driving.
We went there for our honeymoon. I will tell you that the food is great and there is a daily show at 9:30pm everyday. Other than that, there is nothing any other hotel will offer you. The pools are good and the facilities are ok. There is NO beach at all. I mean there are 18-wheeler size sand bags on the water next to the beach, rocks everywhere. They charge for internet service which works fine if you want to be free from the world. At some point you will get tired of walking if you stay for several days, but that is probably the same with any other hotel. I will recommend you to rent a car a the airport or by expedia at booking. I had the terrible experience of paying $60 a day for a mini car (2 days for $120). It was a ripped off, but I kind of trust the Lomas Travel person that is associated with the hotel. I should have known better. I will try another hotel next time. The only reason I will recommend this hotel is because of the food.

Last minute weekendPosted Oct 28, 2013
Pros: Rooms opened up to a pool canal
Cons: Really very satisfied
Location: Its not a hotel that you would plan on leaving as it is really not close to anything else but there is plenty to do on property or they will transport
The people could not have been any nicer. This is my first review. We got stuck in a weekend of rain so we were looking for things to do in the rain. The staff were very helpful and found us the Dolphin excursion and set us up for massages. the food was very good as were the drinks. I would definitely go back

Great place to vacationPosted Sep 12, 2013
Pros: everything......nice rooms, comfortable bed, extremely kind staff, great food, beautiful ocean and pools galore !!!
Cons: the lighting in the rooms, being over 50 the eyes aren't what they used to be .....I could have used some brighter lights
Location: about 20-30 min from airport, transportation by van was a breeze. Our conciege Abraham had more tours, and trips than you can imagine.
We had a fabulous time, the entire staff was very kind and friendly. The food was delicious. If you are a foodie don't miss a night at Las Fuentes.....it's a food show as well as a most delicious meal ever....Fabulous concept....

Second visit to this resort.Posted Sep 8, 2013
Pros: The resort is large enough to keep you entertained during your stay. Also everything is very clean.
Cons: The restaurants could use some Improvement. The service is a little slow to get a table and the food is okay.
Location: The location is not far from the airport and there are activities within 15-20 minutes away at all times.
This resort is great if you want to get away and have fun and relax. There is plenty to do at the resort and nearby. We booked horse riding through the resorts activities center. We also rented jet skis to use at the beach. One evening we scheduled massages. The service was great and getting to have them done along the beach was even better. Overall our stay was amazing. The food is okay, but that's somewhat expected from an all inclusive resort. Some restaurants are better than others. The last night of our stay our safe key broke. I called the front desk and they said it would cost $150.00 for them to drill into it. I explained that the key and lock were old and it wasn't our fault it broke. I asked for maintenance to come up to try and help us. The front desk called again to let us know it would be our responsibility to pay if we wanted them to open it. I asked to speak to the manager who quickly said they wouldn't charge us and he understood this could happen. The front desk person told me the locks and keys were new so it couldn't have just broken. When I mentioned that to the manager he said that's impossible for the front desk person to know whom I was speaking with. I felt much better after speaking with the manager. I would have been very upset if we had to pay when the key wasn't our fault it broke. I will continue to recommend this resort!

Great honeymoon destinationPosted Aug 27, 2013
Pros: Staff, cleanness , location , adults only
Cons: The wifi Internet should be free
Location: Location was right in the middle of Cancun and Playa del Carmen
When we came to El Dorado with my wife the hotel appeared to be even better then it was in description. Great staff, room service, amazing food choice that can please any taste. The territory of the hotel is huge, you can enjoy long beach, numerous pools, entertainment program every night and they even offer candle light dinner by the beach ... We will definitely go back again

Beautiful get-awayPosted Jun 9, 2013
Pros: friendly staff, variety of dining options, different pool choices
Location: We enjoyed our excusion to Indiana Joe's for the cenote, dry cave, and zip line. Would have liked to see the mayan ruins as well.
My husband and I stayed at El Dorado Royale for our honeymoon. We thought that the size of the resort (not huge, but big enough to have a good variety in restaurants, pools, etc.) was perfect, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We enjoyed each of the restaurants, and also enjoyed walking around the resort to get to the different restaurants and exploring a bit. We liked that we could find a pool/space that was quiet and relaxing, or if we wanted we could have spent time at the central pool that was more busy and active. It was a great stay!
