No special occasionPosted Nov 24, 2014
Hotel was great, nothing really bad to say. No reservations to any restaurant make it extra nice and easy. Activities sold at the hotel kiosk were overpriced, beach waking agents had better rates for snorkeling which we did.

Wonderful Hotel for AdultsPosted Nov 13, 2014
Pros: Staff, Gorunds, Spa, Entertainment.
Cons: Take the Tulum beach and transport it in front of the Excellence property.
Location: Musts do's - Snorkeling, Jet Skiing, Day trips to see the mayan ruins, plus cenotes and ziplines. Treat yourself to a spa day or afternoon.
Hotel staff and grounds are fantastic. The food was above average for a all-inclusive. Spa was a must!!! The only reason it wasn't a 5 star was the seeweed in the water. The service on the beach was top rate. You didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes to get a drink. Every afternoon they came out with a cold towel and appetizer's. Finally if you want a quiet stay get a room on the Excellence side of the hotel. (BLDG's 7 or 8) but if you want alittle crazy don't spend the extra money.

Pleasant StayPosted Nov 13, 2014
This is a good hotel with good facilities. Getting sun beds is no problem even when busy. Staff very friendly and lots of things to do. Restaurants can get busy and you may have to wait for a table up to an hour but they do give you a bleeper so you can go to a bar and have a few drinks while you wait. Tipping is expected here and you feel awkward if you don't but they do say everything is included even tips. On the whole I definitely would go back

Outstanding Honeymoon!Posted Nov 12, 2014
There's not enough I could say about how amazing this place was. We spent our honeymoon there and can't think of one single complaint. The entertainment was a blast, the staff always working their butts off and happy, friendly, and welcoming. The food and drinks were amazing! The room was stunning and the views are to die for!

On the beach, close to the airport.Posted Nov 11, 2014
Pros: Grounds were beautiful. The many pools and beach area were very nice. Plenty of options for quiet or socializing and many dining& drinking options.
Cons: Many buildings and rooms were under construction. The jackhammer and sledge hammer noise and dust from Lobster Grille was very annoying at times.
Location: Took advantage of the bike ride into the fishing village. Nice ride and didn't take away much beach time.
Fourth trip to Riviera Maya but first time to this resort. Overall a good experience, not great as we had anticipated! Maybe the expectations were too high! Having stayed at Secrets Silversands and Valentin Imperial Maya previously, I had high expectations for this resort. It was always more expensive and the reviews so very positive, I was expecting great things. Of the three resorts, I would rate Excellence my third choice in terms of preference of these three resorts. The grounds were beautiful and an easy walk to anyplace in the resort. Staff was friendly and the food was okay, not outstanding as I had thought it would be. Many choices though so that was great. A huge disappointment was the Mexican restaurant, Agave! Indian, Asian and French were very good. Again, personal preference. The drinks ranged from fantastic to okay. We noticed a huge difference in the bars and bartenders and would walk farther from where we were to get a better drink from a specific bartender....pool bar, Blue, Filipe 1 & 2, Leonardo at the Kafe Cafe, Luis at the Martini bar. The drinks should have been a little more consistent.Decent entertainment. The housekeeping and maintenance staff were great. We had a water problem with one of the sinks the first day and it was attended to promptly. The room was smaller than at the previous resorts and VERY damp and musty smelling. Also, resort never acknowledged our 40th anniversary we were celebrating! Sent an email prior to our arrival.

Best hotel I've ever stayed at. 3rd time here.Posted Nov 10, 2014
This is my 3rd time to Excellence. I love this place. Perfect location. Hotel staff are fantastic, say hello to Gustavo in the Conceirge dept for me. You can't go wrong at any of the restuarants they are all fantastic. Bars are very where and staff at the pools and beach are great. We did the bike ride with the hotel staff in to Puerto Morales, that was a lot of fun. The rooms are very nice and clean. The spa is the best and I would highly recommend it. Will be back.

Great place. Probably the best in CancunPosted Nov 7, 2014
Pros: The staff, the newsletter, the daily activities, the lunch buffet
Cons: The lloatie situation got hairy at times and it seems like they were always out of brown pool towels by 2pm
Walk in to the hotel and you are greeted by staff with sparkling wine they will give you a buzzer that will vibrate when your room is finished. We stayed at the hotel most days, but when we did leave we used seasons tours, they are one of the companies in the lobby that plan trips. They call themselves "concierge" but they are really kinda like a travel agent. They do everything even hotel stuff, and were great. We had great service, but it was kind of expensive. I talked to other folks who used the other services and they said that most of their time was spend on a bus and it was horrible. Spend the extra 50 bucks for seasons. we were worried that we would be nickel and dimed to death at the hotel, but anything that cost extra is very clearly explained. The only thing I can think of (aside from trips outside the hotel) that cost extra was on the wine list at dinner. All food is free, at any place at any time. No extra cost for this or that or room service. I am cheap, so I didn't want to have to tip, but the staff expects you to tip. I got away with 20 pecos every other trip to the bar. The bartenders are great, but they will ignore you for the next highest tipper. I can wait an extra minute for a drink, so no big deal. On my last day I didnt tip at all at the bar and I didnt notice any difference in service. Everyone else is AMAZING. The drinks aren't very good as is, but you can ask them to make anything in anyway at anytime.

Excellent hotel close to the beach.Posted Nov 6, 2014
It was very good experience to stay in this hotel. Everything is excellent staff, restaurants, entertainment, beach. The only thing wich was desappointing for us was sea, because we are coming from the country wich has cristal clear sea, and for us is not enough to swim in the pool near the beach.

Excellent resortPosted Nov 4, 2014
Pros: Each building had there own pool. No bad rooms in this resort, all rooms face the pools or Ocean.
Cons: Nice large balconies with very uncomfortable seating.
Location: We stayed on sight and did not do any tours off the premises.
Great week spent at Excellence riviera cancun. Food was first class, only disappointment was at Basmatti. Staff were wonderful, friendly and helpful. We had a regular room over looking the pool in building 9, room was clean, bed was firm which suited us. Personally I would not pay extra for the swim up room or for the Excellence Club. Beautiful sandy beach, lots of sun beds and shade. Seaweed in the ocean first couple of days, then it seemed to clear. Beautiful Resort with lovely grounds.
