Great Couples Getaway!Posted Jan 27, 2015
Pros: Variety of food, cleanliness, not too crowded
Cons: Some of the waiters at the breakfast buffet were not so friendly. I would recommend drinking the Mexican coffee not just the regular coffee.
Location: We didn't feel need to leave the resort we just wanted to relax and the hotel offered everything we needed.
My husband and I came here to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and had an excellent time. The hotel is beautiful and so clean. The food is really yummy. We loved Agave the Mexican restaurant and the lunch buffet Las Olas. Carlos makes really delicious pizzas at the bar from 12-3. There is such a great selection and variety of food. They serve top shelf liquor and the drinks were flowing. The pools were so pretty and clean. We did sit on the beach also and that was really pleasant. The resort is really spacious, it never felt crowded even though we were told it was 80% full. Reservations are not required for the restaurants but some nights you had to wait which didn't bother us because we would go to the bar to wait. Each night there was a huge event/entertainment. On our last day we discovered the coffee bar located in the lobby. We can't say enough about this hotel. It was awesome. I highly recommend it.

Avoid Block 6!!!Posted Jan 27, 2015
Pros: The staff were OK .. so long as you tipped them. Change up lots of $1 bills, otherwise good luck getting a repeat drink!
Cons: The swim up rooms, you pay a premium for an upgraded room and they ruin your clothes and make you feel ill inhaling a mould smell.
Location: Location is good, in the middle of Cancun & Riveria so never last on the tour drop back!
The rooms have a certain damp / mould aroma in Block 6. We had a swim up room and had to have our room swapped into the same block into the same smelling conditions. It made your clothes and money damp throughout the course of the day even with air con on. We were told that this is just a byproduct of having a swim up room with people coming in and out in wet clothing .... apparently. Secondary if your facing the heated pool in block 6, be aware that this backs on to the main entertainment stage, whilst I can understand while you're on holiday you wouldn't necessarily be in bed every night before 11pm, but after a long day travelling / feeling unwell and you want to get some sleep before this time, I suggest you don't stay in this block. I literally felt like I had the nightly entertainment in my room, I had to have management come to the room to listen to what I was experiencing and they swiftly offered to change us rooms, into block 6 again. I wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone who wants something luxurious and a nice break, if you want lots of rowdy drunk people, loud, somewhat hideous nightly entertainment, and damp smelling rooms then this is for you!

Great hotelPosted Jan 27, 2015
The resort is beautiful and the staff are really friendly and professional. I'm impressed with the entire resort, the quality of their food and drinks as well as the resorts entertainment. The dive/adventure booking guys and diving staff are excellent. The only thing i would add is that the resort customers are primarily 40 to 60 years old and all couples. Thanks again excellence!

Wonderful stay, everyone who works at the resort seems truly happy to work there! We had a great babymoon! The food is good for an all inclusive, the pools are expansive and even fully booked we didn't have a terrible time getting chairs by the pool or beach - I was happy to see they enforce the no reserving chairs rule! Plenty of pool floats for all and if you can't find one go to the lazy river there are always a lot there. Everyone staying there was very friendly and we met some great folks. We'd definitely consider going back or to another Excellence brand property! FYI - the beach had a lot of seaweed while we were there - not the resorts fault at all but not exactly pleasant either. Just limited our walks on the beach and swimming in the sea (it started to smell a bit) but didn't really bother us.

Fabulous food, amazing entertainment.Posted Jan 23, 2015
We stayed a week recently and were sad to leave. The food was great at every restaurant but we were really happy with the buffets at breakfast and lunch, which can be a disappointment at resorts. There was a lot of variety and it was very well prepared. And we loved Basmati, the Indian restaurant. Beautiful decor and atmosphere and wonderful food. My husband is a chef and was very impressed with the food in general. And the entertainment was better than some things we've paid to see. The nightly shows were very professional and entertaining, but the best was the live music in the early evenings. We particularly liked the three tenors, and were amazed by a singer named Claudia Trevino, who was accompanied by a very talented guitar player, I'm sorry to have forgotten his name. She was outstanding-will be watching for her on iTunes! All in all a wonderful holiday and would go back in a minute!

Great hotel on the beachPosted Jan 21, 2015
Pros: Many activities available if you want to participate. Also appreciated that it is adults only!
Cons: It would be nice to have some of the specialty restaurants open for lunch sometimes.
Location: Not far from airport. You can bicycle to nearby towns. Also many, many off site excursions - usually for an additional cost.
Overall great experience. Greeted at the door with champagne and the journey begins. Room is a great size - spacious with separate sitting, sleeping and grooming/ bathing area. Several great pools - some with more activity near some of the bars. Others more secluded and quiet if you prefer. Provides daily newsletter to highlight events and help you plan for the next day. Nightly activities/ shows. Offers concierge services to help plan off site events and also has other groups that advertise in the lobby for off site excursions. Several great restaurants open for dinner. Food was good at most of them. Beach area had great places to lay out, but was not impressive for swimming. (May have had some bad weather just prior to our arrival)

Upscale hotelPosted Jan 19, 2015
Pros: The lazy river, evening bands and singers, food, and top shelf alcohol.
Cons: The beach was full of seaweed, but the hotel worked constantly to clear it. I think it was a bad weather time. Lots of wind and waves.
Location: About a half hour from Cancun airport. One hour from Xcaret, where we swam in an underground river, saw a wonderful show at night, plus more.
January 2015 - Secomd time at this resort. The last time was 5 years ago. A few things have changed to make the resort better. Two more restaurants ( Indian and Flavor Market). All the restaurants are good but the Italian was our least favorite. Staff is very good and friendly. The grounds workers do a fabulous job and work very hard. The lazy river pool was wonderful. It was great for exercising by swimming laps around the spa. The beds around the pools and at the beach were very comfortable. I would highly recommend this resort.
