“Beach, Sun and Sea to make you forget it's winter”
The hotel is amazing, very secure. The beach very clean and private. A lot of swimming pools. Music every night. Service excellent. Take the boat and see all the different birds and wildlife. Go to Playa del Carmen where restaurants and shops are cheaper. FUN! FUN! FUN!
“Great Hotel, Great Service”
We've spent our honeymoon at Mayakoba (mid november) and had a great time there. Pros: The Casita de Luxe Room is great with a big bathroom - two sinks, jacuzzi and a balcony to the small river that surrounds the property. The bed, towels, pillows and sheets are good quality and confortable. The service is great. From the reception desk to the "meseros" (waiters), passing throw the roomkeeping (they left some flowers on our bed at our arrival and the jacuzzi prepared with some flowers around in one day). The property is big and all the transportation (beach, rooms, reception) is made by golf cars and bicicle (bmw bikes) available for the guests. The restaurantes are good and priced in dollars (expensive in comparison to others restaurantes in Mexico). Average drinks (Mojito, Margueritas) costs US$ 10 and they are very good. The breakfast is great (buffet = US$ 25,00 each). Cons: The private beach is not that great and we strongly recommend you to rent a car to go to the beaches nearby (Tulum (60km away) and Playa del Carmen (11km)). As it is located by the "Carretera Federal" (Federal Road) the nearest city is Playa del Carmen where you can find restaurants, shops, etc. Cancun is 60km north (it is not really a con, only if you want to go shopping or big city restaurants).
“Would go back in a heartbeat”
Excellent service, excellent accommodations. Great beach: made you feel like you were just sharing it w/a few families/couples. Food was amazing, way better than any resort & comparable to nice restaurants in a large city in terms of quality. Truly luxurious & enjoyable without being stuffy. Not cheap but at least you get exactly what you pay for.
“Stormy Weather”
We were extremely pleased with our stay at the Fairmont Mayakoba and with the service from the staff. Although, the weather did not cooperate fully during our stay due to the rainy season, we did experience several days of sun. The staff was outstanding and saw to all our needs with a warm smile. If you stay at this hotel, please take the canal boat tour which takes you on a scenic water tour through the mangroves. You will be thrill to see many of the animals inhabiting the surronding area.
“Amazing Anniversary”
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for our first anniversary. We went in September so it was low season which was actually great as the hotel was not crowded at all. We barely saw other people in fact. The rooms were very nice, the hotel main area was beautiful and the beach was amazing. There were two infinity pools, and a larger pool area with 6 or so different pools, all really nice. The stayy were out of this world amazing. No one passed us without saying hello by name, offering us a ride or asking if they could get us something. Staff alone were worth the visit. The food at the restaurants was also 5 star, some of the best fine dining seaood at night and guac by the pool we have had. We are going back and would highly recommend it as we have high expectations when traveling and this hotel met all of those expectations. We were met with cold towels and ice tea upon arrival and a specialized breakfast platter on our last day there thanking us for our visit. We loved this place from the private yoga lesson we had to the spa which is top of the line to the endless beach. From a picky traveler we have nothing bad to say. We both had only one small complaint in that the tile in the pools needed a good cleaning but you had to look really hard to find it. Go to this resort, it was beautiful. You can ride bikes throughout the property, walk everywhere or choose a pool to sit by all day. Worth the money and we will go back!
“Great hotel...mediocre food”
We loved the hotel and golf course, but were definitely disappointed with the overpriced restaurants. The resort is pretty far from town, so its not easy to go elsewhere to eat. We went to all the resort restaurants and a neighbouring hotel (The Rosewood) and always felt the food was very mediocre and extremely pricey. We didn't want to do an all-inclusive because we were afraid that we wouldn't like the food, but looking back that would've been the better way to go. It's a great resort with friendly staff so if you don't mind the $40 roundtrip cab ride to town its a nice place to stay. Also beware that the resort fee is per person per day which added up.
“Magical Mayakoba”
Great place for family vacations. I was there with my husband and we enjoyed the grounds, but there were a lot of children and families at the hotel. The service was spotty as well. The Laguna restaurant service was extremely slow, but the service at the beach and patio was great!
“Best Family Vacation Plan”
The Fairmont Mayakoba is really perfect for my lifestyle. I love bikes, trees, fish, beach, sea and nature. But when you can experience that with worldclass, service, comfort and food, you are in the paradise. That is the Fairmont, a paradise near Playa del Carmen. The architectural design of the hotel is well developed, to match with the place. The casitas are very comfortable, with a lot of daylight in the bathroom, a pretty terrace, and a lovely coffee maker. Should you choose the second floor, those have better view. The people are very kind. The beach is not big, but has smooth sand, and very convenient kioskos. Me, my wife and our 8 year old child, had a wonderfull time at the Fairmont. In few words, for first time in my life, I feel that the seller did not say any lie.
“Excellent”
This resort is fabulous!!! Great service and great rooms!!! There are 3 restaurants available. Food and beverages are kind of pricey.
“place to be pampered”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel was beautiful. We were pampered at the spa. Enjoyed fine dining!!
