DisappointingPosted Nov 10, 2013
Pros: The staff were fantastic, always friendly and customer service oriented, polite and bilingual.
Cons: Food, food, food Beach esthetic
Location: Great experience with Best Day Travel outing to snorkel with sea turtles, ride ATVs and explore the underground caverns - our guide, Noe - fantastic
We have traveled all inclusive in the past and have always found the food to be good and satisfying; we have also travelled in Mexico and always enjoyed fresh and authentic Mexican fare but this was not the case during this stay. Many of the dishes in the buffet were disappointing, bland and lacked the usual fresh Mexican style and flavor. Many of the snack foods involved 'hot dogs' (in tacos, mini buns, tortillas). The fresh fruit was abundant and great. The beach water is beautiful but the many sandbags and often overwhelming odor put a damper on the overall experience.

Perfect locationPosted Nov 5, 2013
Great experience! Clean. Perfect location close to everything on 5th ave. not on noisy block. The beach however isn't the greatest lots of sandbags and very rocky. Staff was great but not good with giving out accurate info about the premises. Overall I enjoyed my stay. It is very family oriented. The royal hotel across the street is same owner and adults only. Will stay there next time

Nice hotel on beachPosted Nov 4, 2013
Pros: Most everything
Location: Located near ferry and tons of junk shopping
Hotel is on an unusable portion of beach. Sandbags everywhere. On this side of Mexico, the water is most times too rough to swim. Hotel rooms very clean. Standard room is just that.....standard but clean. Jr suites were roomy and the larger suites were really nice. Family had all sizes of rooms so I was able to see all rooms sizes offered in this hotel. Staff is great, food is average cruise ship type fare. Drinks were ok and there are places to mix your own. The suites had premium liquor dispensers in rooms that was measure out by the jigger. Daughter was married there and they treated the couple like royalty. Pool area small and cramped so get out and go see some sights. Overall everyone, 50 of us, were very pleased with location, hotel, services, employees and cleanliness. Would stay there again if I ever went back to Playa.

Nice but crowdedPosted Oct 31, 2013
Hotel was situated on a rectangular piece of land, with the small side of the rectangle on the beach. This means the entire rest of the hotel crowds into a small space on the beach and at the pool. The resort was clean but noisy (due to the number of people). Staff worked very hard at trying to make sure everyone had a good experience. Hotel was also just off downtown playa del Carmen--good for those who want to explore, but not as exclusive (no actual concerns about safety but could be theoretical).

Nice resort right on beachPosted Oct 11, 2013
When we arrived the staff was very friendly they gave us a key to our room we had booked, there were still people in it. They put us in an "upgraded" room that night only. The next night we were placed in a room like the one we had reserved but there were two full sized beds and we had requested a king during booking. When we asked if we could have a different room with a king sized bed we were told there were none available. They told us they would give us resort "credit" for the inconvenience which ended up to be only $40 that we could use in the gift shop. The food was not very good in the buffet on sight or at the snack bar. The bartenders were great. There was a horrible smell of dead fish outside our room and down by the pool and beach. There were sand bags with green slime on them all along the beach which made it nearly impossible to get in the ocean. Overall it was a nice place, we felt safe but next time we will probably explore our other options.

Would stay here again.Posted Oct 11, 2013
Pros: Prety much everything. Not for adult singles who don't like children. The guests have children and we found the guests very friendly.
Cons: It would be nice to have a place to make change so we could tip the staff. Front desk does not make change.
Location: Location is perfect. Fronts to beach. 5th av shopping just two blocks away.
The rooms were clean and comfortable. the staff was friendly and helpful. Very hard workers. Food was plentiful and good. The most impressive part for our family was the kids club and the staff there. Our 5 year old wanted to stay and play there most every day. Wonderful staff. My only complaint was the light and noise throughout the night. can't figure out what was going on to cause so much noise.
