“Can't wait to visit again!”
If you are looking for a relaxing getaway that offers a beachy feel with superior service, Gran Porto Real in Playa Del Carmen is a great choice. The staff especially the waiters on the beach go out of their way to provide you with whatever you desire or need. Everyone greets you with a smile and Buenas Dias' when they pass you. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and definitely will visit again! Hopefully sooner than later!
“Wedding Experience”
My son was married here and the wedding was exceptional. The motel provided a nice wedding package and we had a great time. I think getting an upgrade to a Jr Suite would be a good investment.
“Great for families”
Hotel was clean, service was great. Food was reasonable, what you can expect in any all inclusive. Good for families with kids.
“Pleasant Stay”
Room: We were at the Gran Porto for three nights at the beginning of November for a wedding at the Royal. We upgraded to a junior suite upon check in and were glad we did. We had a pleasant ground floor room which had a deck that faced the street. It was quiet in the room despite that and the curtains are definitely good black out ones. The beds were comfortable by Mexico standards and the room a good size. The only room issue was with the safe, which showed different numbers than the ones you pushed, so you had to remember your "new" code as it wasn't what you actually put in. Food: Buffet breakfast was very adequate. Not the huge spread of some other resorts, but the room cost isn't as high either so that was expected. Mexican restaurant was nice, but had no vegetarian options. The only thing I could order was the queso dip which was very tasty. When the waiter realized the problem, he had the kitchen make me a special meal which was very nice. The Italian restaurant was the BEST! One of the best meal we have had in Mexico for sure. Would highly recommend it, even if you aren't staying at the hotel. Beach snack bar was great! Beach/pool: the pool area is small but nice and the bar is close by. Having stayed at other resorts in the Riviera Maya with amazing beaches, I don't care for the beaches in Playa. They are really crowded for me, but they are still nice. The service everywhere in the resort was great! Overall, a good inexpensive stay close to Playa!
“Very clean, safe, and excellent service.”
My wife and I just got back from the Gran Porto...Basically its a very nice and clean place with extremely friendly service. The buffet was great and the two restaurants were pretty good too (liked the Italian much more than the Mexican). Yes as in other reviews posted, the beach does have sand bags...but they didn't bother me too much. We were very pleased with our stay and would return again.
“Great vacation experience”
Excellent service, facitlity, and location. Couldn't ask for anything better. Will definitely go to this hotel again.
“An excellent experience--great value, fun vacation!”
Our stay at The Gran Porto Real was a relaxing, wonderful experience. The property is impeccably maintained; the staff is constantly cleaning and painting. There are some areas that need renovation (bathroom fixtures dated, some cracking masonry) but that does not detract from the experience. And the main experience is the great staff--we did not have a single experience of unpleasant or unhappy staff--every member of their team strove to make our experience a great one. We upgraded to a junior suite--well worth it for the additional space and private balcony. The beds and linens are nice though the matress is quite firm-but my family likes firm matresses. The main pool is nice and there is a "tranquil pool" with jacuzzi and suishi bar on the 3rd floor roof. The beach is pleasant but has suffered a bit of erosion; the hotel is trying to restore it wit sand bags. The food is quite good, especially when taking note this is an all-inclusive. The buffet restaurant does excellent breakfast and lunch with a varying menu, and the specialty restaurants are also good, with the Mexican restaurant offering a revolving menu and the Italian restaurant having a fixed menu. The hotel is just one block from 5th Ave and shopping.
“Great family vacation!”
This is a smaller resort with lots of amenities. It was a great place to take our family...we had everything we needed. It was close to 5th avenue shopping. A few of the employees were the nicest we've ever met on a trip to Playa del Carmen. The restaurants were great and the service, even better.
“Last weekend”
Hotel service and our room (ocean-front) were great. This looks to be an older hotel that is well maintained and in a wonderful location. Only criticism is the quality of the food served at the hotel.
“Christy”
The hotel staff was so friendly. The resort was clean as where the room, I was only there for a short stay but would love to go back. The food was amazing at the 4 resturants that we ate at.
