Gran Porto Real in Playa del Carmen: Very Good!Posted May 19, 2015
Pros: Food, wait staff, proximity to shopping, walk-in shower
Cons: The beach! It needs to be dredged so you can actually walk into the water, otherwise is a steep drop in places onto some old sandbags, lots of seaweed
Location: 5th avenue! Lots of shops, restaurants, bars literally 1 block away. Lots of day trips & excursions: site seeing, shop, zip line, snorkel, parks etc.
Excellent resort, I would return tomorrow! The food in Albatross is incredible; its a buffet style with every imaginable option for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are 2 other restaurants on site that are part of the all inclusive. Maria's serves authentic Mexican and Il Pescatore is Italian. fyi: the tomato sauce in Mexico is not the typical Marinara we are used to in US. Try the tomato soup & carpaccio at Il Pescatore, incredible. Pool is warm and clean, amazing wait staff throughout the facility, you couldn't ask for better service, just impeccable. My only reserve is the beach, it is almost nonexistent. It didn't ruin the vacation for us, we went mostly in the pool and made our way cautiously in the water. No problem getting chairs at the pool, lots of activities, including excursions. Prime location 1 block from 5th avenue with tons of shops, food, bars, street performers perfect to walk after dinner, had decent massage at the spa, mini golf being updated, junior ocean view suite, lots of cool marble and stone, cable TV, stocked fridge, bathrobes, walk-in shower was great, got a little grief trying to get refund back from an excursion (had pulled my back) when I produced something in writing from a doctor I was quickly refunded. Didn't realize it was a vacation club, we did the free breakfast at Royal, sales pitch, the concierge Marco was fun, helpful, even when we said we weren't interested, he didn't harass us at all

Great Beach & LocationPosted May 18, 2015
Pros: Plenty of seating options on the beach, around the pool. Good Food.
Cons: This can't be changed, but the main pool needs a swim up bar.
Loved it. Husband and I hadn't been on a trip together in a long time. This was fantastic. The food was great. Even the Buffet had several "cook to order" stations. Loved the Italian restaurant. Towards the end of the week, the resort became more crowded with families and kids, but the upstairs pool provided a getaway from it.

Overall good. Loud roomsPosted May 17, 2015
Overall everything was good. Beach is smaller than expected due to erosion. Food was good. Rooms are nice but you can hear anything going on around you. Great value !

Great location, Friendliest staff!Posted May 16, 2015
Pros: On the smaller side so you there is enough space to spread out and enjoy but not so much that you feel lost or overcrowded. Very clean, good size room
Location: right in the middle of the action- 15 min walk on the beach to the cozumel ferry, 3 blocks from the happenin pedestrian only 5th ave. No cab needed!
Fantastic 8 day stay at the Gran Porto. The hotel is on the smaller side which was welcome- there is an interactive, livelier side of the pool and also a quieter section- neither of which feel overcrowded, of too big. The staff really makes the experience. Everyone we came in contact with was happy, friendly and went out of their way to make you feel welcome. I would like to recognize Pablo and also Marissa by the pool. They really made our week. They are friendly, personable and just great people that got to know. They looked for us each day even when they weren't working in our section. This is not an easy skill to master. they are both truly an asset to your staff! If you are coming here to swim in the ocean this is not the hotel for you. The beach just outside is rocky and full of seaweed (like lots and lots of brown smelly seaweed. That being said, there are places to enjoy the ocean just to the right and left of the hotel. If you didn't come only to swim in the ocean it is a great place. highly recommended.

Fantastic experience!Posted May 15, 2015
Pros: Food, customer service
Cons: Beach is a bit rocky. We stayed by the pool.
Location: Clubs, restaurants, souvenir shops - just off the main drag
I've never stayed at an all-inclusive with such great food! It was dangerously good - I didn't need to go back for seconds, but I really wanted to. The staff was also fantastic, making sure we had everything we needed or wanted. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Picture Perfect Vacation!Posted May 14, 2015
Pros: Room, staff, location, vibe
Cons: Elevator on both sides of the building
Location: lots of shops and restaurants...yelp it....you will find it. great venezualian, mexican, and american brunch spots within a 5 block radius.
We stayed at the Gran Porto first week of May 2015. It was the perfect vacation from beginning to end. Wonderful oceanfront room and exceptional staff from housekeeping to all the staff at the concierge, restaurants and the pool. This was our first time traveling with our 6 month old daughter and we were a little nervous about cleaning her bottles and preparing food for her to eat. The staff at the buffet restaurant was excellent- special thanks to Eliazar, Elias, Ivan, Rosando, and Lucy for going above and beyond to help us with the baby's needs. We had a blast and it was the most perfect relaxing vacation. Yes the beach had a seaweed problem but it was still beautiful nontheless as you can see the sunrise and sunset from the location of the resort. The best location close to 5th Av and walking distance to many of the shops and hole in the wall restaurants. Always something to do and somewhere to go if that's your cup of tea. Playa del Carmen is a great little town and I will surely be back next year! Thank you Gran Porto for making this one of the best vacations for my family!

Highly recommend staying here!Posted May 13, 2015
We had an amazing time at Gran Porto! The location is perfect. Just a couple blocks from 5th Ave where all the action is. Staff is AMAZING. Food was tasty and it was important to me to still eat healthy on vacation and they had a TON of great options - always lean proteins, plenty of fresh fruits and veggies and lots of bottles of water. And, they have an awesome gym that is much better than most hotel gyms in the U.S. From Anturo at the front desk to Ceaser at the pool to Gilberto at the Italian restaurant, we were greeted with big smiles and treated like queens! I can't wait to go back!
