Enjoyable Week at beach

Posted Jul 24, 2014
Pros: Beach; Food; Drinks; Rooms; Grounds; Most of the staff.
Cons: AC in all places where people eat. Food quality same at each of 3 hotels. Getting towels without having to keep up with cards. Free Wifi everywhere.
Location: Stayed on property entire time.
Family of 4 going on vacation for week at beach. Hotel is good with nice rooms and great beach to relax and enjoy. Staff is good and works hard. We had some issues checking in with staff and getting wrong type rooms - had to resolve with manager that also took some convincing of front desk staff to call (seemed very reluctant). We ended up working with Yazmin to correct all issues - took some time and several meetings, but she did a great job of making our vacation enjoyable....plus, we got the rooms we requested. AC is an issue at this hotel - rooms ended up being ok to deal with (keep doors closed as much as possible). Places you eat - most don't have AC and those that do, don't work very well. My suggestion - don't go here in summer as too hot...maybe in spring/winter/fall it is more pleasant.

Very nice all inclusive resort in Tulum

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: The cleanliness and the staff
Cons: The room could be cooler
Location: Didn't leave the resort except to dive a cenote, but there's several Mayan Temples close by
Having traveled to Mexico for close to twenty years, this is one of the best properties that we've ever stayed at. The resort is very clean and well layed out with lots of restaurants, pools, and bars. We thought that the buffet restaurants offered a good variety of fresh foods. The reservation restaurants were also very tasty. Having been to Disney World twice, I felt that the customer service exemplified the Disney model. The staff will go out of their way to make you comfortable and relaxed. A few of the staff need to be acknowledged for their exceptional service - Miguel at the Cozumel buffet, Fernando at the Hibiscus pool bar the shuttle drivers and the bell boy staff at the Coba lobby. Also, did some diving with Scuba Aquatic, which is on site, and they are a good dive shop with very competent dive masters such as Jonathan, Emilio and Jaimie. All in all, I would highly recommend this resort.

Overall Ok

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: They have transportation between the hotels, food was good, they have lots of activities for children
Cons: Change air conditioning systems and install them in restaurants (or at least bigger fans)
Location: Lots of parks and places to go and do different activities near by the hotel. Dolphins to interact with at the hotel
Food was good. A la carte restaurants you have to make reservations they were always full so we only found 6:00 pm every day and we had to rush to get ready to eat. Rooms have a good size and the bathroom is nice (the only thing was that the bathtub had few black stains), I would never stay at this hotel just because they don't have AC in the restaurants, you eat sweating and after a long day at the beach or swimming pool you go to your room and the AC doesn't work properly and the heat and humidity are extremely high ( I traveled in July)

Definitely enjoyed this hotel

Posted Jul 21, 2014
We spent 5 nights at this resort, and definitely enjoyed our stay. It had fun shows and activities, good food, a great restaurant (Arlequin), lots of pools, and nice facilities. Compared to the Barcelo Maya Colonial, it has about the same quality of food much better shows and nightlife. There is definitely less AC than Barcelo, esp in our rooms and dining. The size can be a drawback, and if you like the beach I would recommend Tulum of Akumal. The best part however was the kids club. Brenda at Akumal's Bahia Scouts Mini-Club left such a great impression on our kids. They had a great time with all of her activities!

Nice family place.

We stayed for a week. We snorkelled, swam and ate. It was an awesome experience that we will forever remember. The hotel was very clean. We miss the food and hate having to cook or food. We are spoiled. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone.

Ok for the money but next time will choose another

Posted Jul 17, 2014
Pros: food, pools
Cons: air conditioning in room!
It was OK for the money, but there are better options . First and the most problem was AC in the room that constantly stopped working and after multiple calls somebody finally arrived and checked it. Even with lowest temp on (btw, you can't adjust it in your room) it was extremely hot in the room even at night. No ac in most restaurants as well and it was very hot and moist during july. Pools, kids pool, and food was good. For some reason staff didn't make "towel animals" -the fact that slightly disappointed our kids. We also didn't like most shows. The resort's territory is huge so if your room located not next to lobby and main pool you will find yourself walking 10-15 min several times a day back and forth (hope not to get lost) or waiting for a shuttle. I like walking but its annoying after few days, especially when you have kids. Also, you will need a shuttle for a beach.

3rd trip to this resort

Posted Jul 11, 2014
We really enjoyed this resort and have traveled many times to Riviera Maye and stayed at other places. The restaurant staff needs to be more friendly and more accommodating. The bartenders are great understaffed. The food quality at the buffet restaurant could use a little improvement as well. The transportation within the resort was the worst this year of all the years that we've been. But obviously we are not completely dissatisfied because we keep going back and plan to go back again next year. We did see a lot of improvement this year from last year and we're very pleased, keep up the good work. We really feel like the resort is working to improve based off of feedback.

Descent resort

Posted Jul 4, 2014
The Coba is not on the beach, but a 10 minute walk or there is a trolley every few minutes. Very large resort. The beach is gorgeous and the ocean is amazing. The pools are great and there are pools for just adults and or people who want to do activities. The staff at Coba is ok, not as friendly or accommodating as other resorts we have stayed at. You can use all the other facilities and restaurants at the adjacent Akumal resort, which is on the beach. The main restaurant buffet at Coba was always quite warm unless siting under the ceiling fans. Not that much entertainment for such a big resort. Overall descent resort but be prepared to walk a lot and hard to figure out where everything is.
