Huge and unorganized

Posted Apr 16, 2015
second time staying at Grand Palladium ( Jamaica and Mexico) and will never stay there again. requested 2 queens and a sofa (paid extra for a junior suite) but was provided 1 king instead. When requested a different accommodation were offered a room at a different resort. Fridge was broken for all 9 days. Tech tried to fix it twice to no avail, yet it wasn't replaced. All contents were hot instead of cold. Thank G-d we were there with a lot if our friends who made this trip so much better. Btw, our friends had similar issues with their accommodations as well. Some had to be moved in the middle of the stay and wasted an entire day on the process. Very disappointed and none of the 19 people in our group will ever stay there again.

Nice large hotel complex

Posted Apr 5, 2015
Got to the complex and were told that we were in Riviera, not Kantenah as we booked. After much discussion we finally got a room in the 2100 building of Colonial, close to the beach, pool and adult pool. Great facility, workers very pleasant

Fantastic resort on the beach!

Posted Apr 1, 2015
Grand palladium resort is all inclusive resort-divided into 4 resorts in all. Have use of all facilities for 1 price! Was awesome! The huge free form pools were very pretty-and gorgeous at nite!! Food really good-buffets good too. Had no problem getting into a la carte restaurants! Loved the steak house one the best! Had Italian , Mexican -the granddaughters loved the Japanese one-they went twice 2 it. Also have Braxilian.one-not impressed by it. Grounds very well kept. Workers out trimming-cleaning up every day. Entertainment excellent- 2 shows nitely-2 venues. Get around resort by golf carts-hold about 20 people & a small Disney/like choo-chop train- was fun 2 ride-lets breeze feel good. Could walk or take trains throughout resorts. Lots of lounge chairs on beach/palapa trees and around pool/even loungers in pool. Best of all could snorkel from the beach- just walk out about 50/70 feet and see lotsa different fish - had small reefs-just great!! This is our 4th time there!! It's great!!

Beautiful property with soft white sand, stingrays, and a few species of fish visible from the shallow water. Lovely boardwalks through mangrove forests connect pools to the beach and rooms. The rooms are comfortable but don't spend much time there!

Relaxing vacation but still very kid friendly

Posted Feb 24, 2015
Pros: Pools, pool-side fitness program, ability to participate in activities or just as easily find a quiet spot on the beach - like in one of the hammocks.
Cons: No need for plastic mattress covers, switch out comforters for more modern bedding, internet
Location: Very close to many fun things. Tulum Archeological Site, cenotes and jungle tours, Akumal for swimming with the turtles
We just returned from a lovely stay at the Grand Palladium. We generally do not stay at resorts so we were a little wary but the experience was very good. My daughter was beyond thrilled with the Kids' Club (and participated in several of their performances in the evening - a huge thrill for her). We also really enjoyed morning yoga followed by POP Fitness at the pool - we both agreed that Pedro was a great instructor. The yoga especially was a great way to start the day. The hotel being spread out (it's actually five hotels), there was also plenty of room to get a good run in along the trails, beach and paths at the hotel - just be careful not to step on an iguana. We had booked the Kantenah but were bumped to the Riveria. This was a bit farther from the kids areas but was perhaps quieter. We were near the salt water pool (good place for kid snorkeling) and close to the onsite Brazilian restaurant, which became our favorite. The room itself was very large - perhaps almost too large for two people (we booked a Junior Suite) but well-appointed. The bed could definitely be upgraded as the plastic mattress cover and the comforter - not duvet - but comforter were very old-fashioned. The free internet was painfully slow and the premium upgrade (which we paid for but were later refunded) did not work - this may not matter to a lot of people but should be noted if you are trying to squeeze in some work while on vacation. Overall, an excellent stay and we would recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel with friendly stuff

Posted Feb 20, 2015
Pros: Beech at the Colonial was great
Cons: Better English for personal to communicate. Reservation in ALa Carte restaurants for all guests. More information about evening entertainments
It is verry long drive from Airoport. We've been upgraded from standard room in Kantenah to junior suit in White Sand upon arrival. Don't go for it. Room was nice, but beech is rocky. We did go to Colonial every morning and spend hole day there one the beach. Returned to our room at night. We did eat there in "La Hasienda" buffet, which by the way we liked the best. Waiters there so friendly and go extra stepp to satisfy customer needs. Variety of food endless and tasty to. Palladium complex has 4 resorts and is huge, but they have train taking you between their lobby if you don't feel like walking. We liked to walk, it's beautiful place. Lots of a la carte restaurants, but no reservations. First come, first serve and waiting time vary from 30 min to 1.5 hour. So we mostly ate dinner in the buffet. Beech buffet doesn't feel sanitary so we didn't go there even for snacks. Service could be better: we asked for blankets 3 times and used coverlet instead (never have gotten blankets). Overall we maid the best out of it and enjoyed our stay.

Too Big. Hard to get around the resort.

Posted Feb 20, 2015
Pros: The food at most of the restaurants was good. The resort was clean and the staff was friendly.
Cons: Better signage where you are in the resort. The four main lobbies look the same. You are confused were you are. Better trams through resort.
Location: Tulum and the ruins are close. A couple hours away, you can be at Coba and Chitchen Itza. These are all easy drives if you rent a car.
The resort is too big. There is a tram that will pick you up, but it is not consistent. It doesn't start until 8am. This isn't good if you want to go to breakfast early. A couple times we were not able to use it because it was being used for wedding parties (wedding parties got preferential treatment over other paid guests). We had elderly parents with us with mobility issues and we found the resort was too big for them to get around. There were special trams for elite members. We were not permitted to use them. You will need a map to get around the resort. We spoke with other guests and they all recommended carry a map and it will take you 3 days to figure your way around the resort. We requested king size beds for each room and we didn't get this. We were given a room with two double beds. The beds and pillows were the worst we ever slept in. Each bed had a plastic cover on the mattress. Each time you moved, you would hear the plastic crinkle. I've traveled a lot and I have never slept in such a bad bed. Some of the the restaurants were good, others were horrible. The Brazilian BBQ was nothing but dry overcooked meat. The steak restaurant took 1.5 hours to get our food. The Mexican restaurant was excellent. The buffets were excellent too. The beach was okay. Been to better beaches. There was a lot of coral and rocks in the water. The saltwater pool was a joke! It was pool cut out along the shore with ocean water flowing in and out.

Excellent Family & Couples Location

Posted Feb 18, 2015
Pros: The rooms were not close to the lobby therefore they were very quiet and comfortable. With a small stocked fridge in each room.
Cons: Publish the activities that are taking place at each of the pools on a brochure so that people could have them and know what pool to be at for each.
Location: Did not wander off the complex as it had everything there on site.
The hotel was very large with 5 lobbies and three huge pools. One with water slides and activities for the kids and one at another location where there was more activities for the Adults. There is also an Adult Pool available at two different locations as well as a salt water pool in a more secluded area along the beach. Snorkeling was average, great for the beginner. The complex is huge with 5 lobbies and many villas located throughout the complex. They have convenient transportation between lobbies as well as throughout the complex. Numerous restaurants are available for your pleasure so there is no shortage of food selection. Large buffets are also available for those that desire as well as a 24 hour restaurant on the beach. The beach is very large and has many chairs and shade for those that want to get out of the sun. They have many activities at the pool each day from yoga, water aerobics, volleyball, water polo, spinning class and many more fun things. They also had shows in two different areas at different times each evening with audience participation. One of the lobbies also had a very large disco available for the night life. I would recommend this to all my friends.
