Wonderful staff but minor suggestionsPosted Mar 3, 2014
For the super clean freaks and foodies, this may not be your resort, but overall opinion was great!!! Cons : My wife and I stayed in the Yucatan Suites and the rooms weren't cleaned thoroughly, as I noticed we had the same sheets and pillow covers the whole 7 days we stayed. Didn't bother me, but I could tell the wife had a small issue with it. Also food in the 2 buffets were 'OK'. Food was a little bland. I'd suggest making reservations with the 9 other restaurants if you'd like a nice tasty dinner. Pros : The beach front was beautiful ( it faces east so you can watch the sunrise every morning), the weather was to die for and the staff were very nice. They kept all the walkways, pools, and landscaping really clean. The place was spotless outside the rooms. Another pro was that there was a shuttle every 5 minutes driving by that took you to the beach as the resort was large. It saved my wife and I a lot of walking. Overall very happy with our stay.

Pretty hotel but a lot of annoying little things..Posted Mar 2, 2014
My husband and I stayed there for our honeymoon..the hotel is very pretty and well maintained. The landscape is beautiful! The restaurant and bar staff was so nice and friendly!! However a lot of disappointing things : the frontdesk staff was so rude (we ended up having to talk to a manager) some of the hotel staff were harassing us to join them for a 90min "breakfast " to become a "member" (sounds like time share to me) we politely said no 3 days in a row and were not so polite on the fourth day, there were never an available chair at the pool or the beach (people throw their towels on the chairs to "reserve" them : it's against swimming pool rules but the hotel staff do not care ) the beach is beautiful but half of it is taking over by vendors (jet ski, tattoos, etc..) Overall I would say it's an "ok" resort. Always super clean, food was good and most of the staff was friendly.

nice hotel on the beachPosted Feb 26, 2014
Pros: The tennis courts and the room was clean ,modern and spacious. The grounds were beautiful and well kept.Bottled water was very appreciated .
Cons: It would be nice to have more drawers for your clothing in the room. The theme restaurants could use more character especially the seafood and fondue
Location: It was further than I thought to playa del carmen. There should be a free shuttle there. The fare is pricey $4. u.s.each person one-way !
It was important for us to have tennis courts and they are beautiful. The hotel room was very nice, spacious and clean.

Nice hotel but WAAAAY too big to be super elegant.Posted Feb 26, 2014
Pros: The all suites aspect was nice.
Cons: The WIFI and internet connections were awful. The food was just average. We don't drink alcohol but I noticed that it was just "bar" brands.
Location: nothing close by that we noticed as being superb.
The wifi hardly ever worked which was fine because it was after all, a vacation. The food was average. The grounds were immaculate. But the sheer SIZE of the facility was overwhelming and they were building an additional 200 rooms while we were there. It felt like a small city, on the beach. The beach was clean and pleasant. Had it been smaller it may have been more enjoyable.

Major construction at the propertyPosted Feb 18, 2014
Cons: disclosure of construction on property
The property was overall very nice but has major construction going on the north side of it. Went there Thurdsay and woke up to construction noise and workers yelling at 7am Friday morning. It was very frustrating. They did move me slightly away from the construction after I complained at 7:15am but couldn't be done until another party checked out at 12pm.

Beautiful hotel with great staff!Posted Feb 18, 2014
We escaped a snow storm and came to the Grand Riviera Princess from Philadelphia in February. Our stay was great! The resort is absolutely beautiful and the staff is extremely friendly. The food was just okay, but again we expected that after reading all the reviews. We would NOT recommend the fondue place. It was not what we expected and were disappointed. However we did enjoy the mexican restaurant La Hacienda and the italian restaurant Mamma Mia. The resort is HUGE! When the reviews say be prepared to walk, they mean it. There is a shuttle that comes around, but often we walked rather than waiting. The grounds are so beautiful you don't really mind the walk. There is contraction going on, which was a little bit of an eye sore as it was happening right next to our deck; however the noise did not affect us and was not a bother. The staff is great; always kind and welcoming. We tipped the staff a few dollars here and there and they were more than appreciative. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Great place and would definitely visit again!

Good overall experience.Posted Feb 16, 2014
Pros: Large areas and beautiful landscaping. Lots of pools and bars and restaurants.
Cons: The shower pressure (need to use the blue pressure tanks to regulate the water pressure). The beds-cheap and uncomfortable (spend some $$ and upgrade
Location: Good location, lots to do.
We read the reviews and they were true. The bathroom had a leak and they sent someone to fix it with caulk. This did not fix it and it was to dark to tell the where the problem was under the sink. The bed is not very comfy and the room has the musty smell. The positives--very clean room, resort and restaurants. Beware-they are adding on and the construction can be loud and a little annoying

We'll be coming back for sure.Posted Feb 3, 2014
Pros: Large pools, beautiful bathrooms and shower, lots of restaurant options
Cons: I did not like the mexican restaurant.
Location: We went on a tour/snorkel with sea turtles/swim in a cave. Worth the money. Once in a lifetime. Did take the entire day though.
I would highly recommend this resort. It was clean, large, lots to do, excellent beach and you never have to leave the resort. So many restaurants and bars to choose from. We're going back next year, no doubt! Only downfall was that I left with so many bug bites. I was on the beach all week.....figure I got them there.

Beautiful hotel but...Posted Feb 3, 2014
The hotel is beautiful and big, lots of walking. The staff was nice but not as helpful and attentive as the place we stayed in Cancun. The bad is the beach, it has rocks and seaweed. Not as pretty as we expected. Would not return here or to Playa del Carmen.
