Pros: clean and near the beach; pleasant service
Cons: 1) too noisy. children and drunks come in at 3:00am and no one takes care of that disturbance 2) restaurant. lacks refrigeration. menu is not appealin

WORST HOTEL: AVOID!

Location: The location is good. Central, one block away from 5th avenue.
Positives: 1. OK location Negatives: 1. I arrived at the hotel at 2 PM which is the time they told me to check in only to find that our rooms were not ready yet, and we had to wait until 4:30 PM to get our rooms. 2. The room smells of a damp/moldy smell that mimics the stench of urine. 3. First night I came back to the room to find that the housekeeper left my door open after cleaning. When I reported this to the lady at the front desk she said "Hahaha ok" And when I told the "manager" he said he will write down a note. So I put the 'do not disturb' sign on the door from then on out, yet my towels were still changed everyday. 4. Water pressure is really bad and my friends room didn't have hot water, though we paid the same rate. 5. I ended up spending most of the nights at my friends place and had all my stuff with me. So when I went back on checkout day to check out, I found that they had not only already checked me out, but checked in the people that were checking into my room after me. 5. I have shed 650 tears over the $650 I wasted on this "hotel"

a very bad hotel

We booked two rooms for the xmas holidays with my wife and my daughters arriving on christmas eve dec 24th and leaving on december 28th 2013.this hotel was extremely bad. the neighborhood is dirty and scary with views on a parking with garbage can and slums.. the person at the reception spoke very bad english. it took him 20 mn to find our reception. the hotel was smelling cleaning chemical. the two rooms were very dirty: bed sheet were full of spots yellow and red… the chairs in the rooms were full of rust.. the bathroom was not clean at all. the shelves in the rooms were dirty and you do not want to put your clothes on it. the website of the hotel indicates that each hotel rooms have safe which is wrong.the stairs are so small to come to your room that you can hardly bring your carryon luggage in the room. I an a very intensive traveller and i have never seen such a poor hotel in a very scary neighborhood. the street is the street were all the tattoo shops of playa del carmen are.

We left as soon as we arrived even though we prepaid for 4 nights. Not the same room in photos, no safe, no manager no balcony....

I had confirmed our reservations by phone 3 weeks before we arrived however they acted as if we did not have a reservation. The only thing that saved us was I had printed out a copy of the reservation. There is no elevator so if you have knee problems, etc you will have a problem. We were put on the 3rd floor. There was sand on the floor. The only good thing was if you want to cook in your room there was a fridge and stove. The hotel is way over priced for what you get. Look elsewhere for a stay.

Great Staff but hotel was just so-so

I have stayed in Playa Del Carmen a few times before and so I was familiar with the area enough that when I booked my vacation package, I wasn't too concerned about the hotel accommodations. I wanted to be close to the beach and 5th avenue where the bars, restaurants, and shops were. Since I am a solo male traveler and don't spend much time in my room, I am not very picky about accommodations, however, the design of this hotel was not very well thought out. It is kind of dark in the courtyard area. There was construction going on and it didn't seem to have any atmosphere to it. I would equate it to the "Motel 6" of Mexico. When I entered my room, I was disappointed because it was cold and "hospital" like. The only windows in the room were a set of french doors that opened to the pool area in the courtyard,...which was right near the hallway that was the entrance to the hotel, so unless I wanted everybody to see me sleeping and getting out of the shower, I had to have the shades pulled the entire time, so I got no natural light in the room. Also, the AC unit was positioned such, that the air blew right onto your head at night in bed.....which wasn't so bad except that it started to spit out droplets of water one night, making it a royal pain trying to put up towels to prevent the water from spitting on me all night long. I would probably not stay at this hotel again. I do want to reiterate that the staff was very friendly and the hotel in no way reflects the wonderful staff.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. The guest service was terrible. The front desk was rude, the room smelled like damp/mold, they only gave us 2 towels, so no hand towels, there was a kitchenette but nothing to wash the dishes with, we had to turn on the fridge & the burners didn't work. One morning we didn't have any water in the shower, not to mention you had to let the water fun for at least 10 minutes for it to warm up. The key card for the door stopped working at least one a day and we had to get it re-set. We had to constantly ask for toilet paper as room service never gave us more. We booked for a week and it was terrible the whole time. Good thing I wasn't in Playa for the hotel, but for the beaches.
