A Perfect Vacation!Posted Mar 1, 2014
Pros: Beach, pool, good size room that is very clean with cute towel sculptures, good food, timely transportation around the property with friendly drivers
Cons: Previously we have always enjoyed the shows. This time disappointed with overall quality. Emcee spoke too fast. Band so loud couldn't hear singers.
Location: Only 1/2 hour from the airport. Beautiful beach. Beautiful well cared for grounds. Swim with dolphins and Maya ruins.
This was our 4th time here. The buffets were really great as were the specialty restaurants. The beach is our favorite with lots of lounges and clean sand. The pool is nice too. The whole property is so pretty with all the plants well taken care of. The animals and birds add to the beauty. All the employees are very friendly always greeting us with hola and a smile. The transportation around the property was wonderful! We are so grateful for a ride to our destination any time of the day or night. We are looking forward to returning next year with our friends who came for the first time.

Our fourth time back.Posted Feb 15, 2014
Pros: There are excellent workers that are right there to help. The resort was full but you still got great service.
Cons: It would be good to know your room# before you get there or ensure your upgrade and room choice before you arrive.
Location: We stayed on the resort this time.. There is golf, water sports, shopping, etc. .
We were able to upgrade to ocean front The service was excellent. I know they have no control over the weather but we had perfect weather too! I can't wait til next year!

Full service resortPosted Jan 25, 2014
Pros: The pool and beach areas of the hotel are very nice.
Cons: The quality of the food was mediocre. The front desk staff were extremely unhelpful, the cleaning staff were inconsiderate to hotel guests.
Location: Location of the resort is fine. However the resort layout is not conducive for children, large parties or people with difficulty getting around.
The resort was nice, however too many things were unpleasant. The quality of the food was ok, the front desk staff was extremely unhelpful. Every reasonable request we made, was met with "sorry, we can't help". At check-in time we asked to be moved to a location closer to the pool or beach and we were told there was no availability to check back the following day. We asked for an extended check-out time of 1 hour and we were told "no availability''. We asked to stay in our room for an extra day, and we were told no availability. All find it hard to believe as the resort was pretty empty and were there during the off -season. The cleaning staff were extremely inconsiderate. Our room was located close to their cleaning closet, and every morning around 8am without fail, they would all congregate right outside my door and chit-chat. I was there for 7 days and not one day was I able to sleep past 8am due to the noise.

Four night stay at Iberostar Paraiso Del MarPosted Dec 11, 2013
Pros: The grounds of the facility were well kept. All of the staff were friendly, responsive and helpful. It is close to many other area activities.
Cons: Some of the buffet foods could have been served hotter. Pillows on beds are very small. Double beds a little snug for two people.
Location: Took 2 tours: 1. Chichen Itza swim at Ik Kil cenote (12 hours); 2. Swim with turtles and snorkel in two cenotes including a cave (5 hours).
My wife, daughter and five year old grand daughter recently enjoyed our stay and celebrated my daughers birthday at Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar. The multi-resort complex is very large and offers the opportunity for lots of walking. We stayed about mid-way between the restaurant area and the beach. We did see the carts constantly running with passengers being transported but we enjoyed the walking. The pool was very large and never really crowded. The beach was very nice. On the dates of our stay, the water was a little rough with the wind coming directly off the Gulf of Mexico. We took the opportunity while there to visit Chichen Itza, snorkel in several cenotes and swim with some sea turtles. The weather was nice with only a few brief showers that had no impact on our stay.

Nice resort, but staff and food too inconsistentPosted Nov 21, 2013
Stayed at the Paraiso Del Mar for 5 nights. We stayed in building 41 for the first two nights, but requested to be moved due to the proximity to the incredibly loud theater that kept us up at night. We were offered a room in building 10 with an ocean view for a nightly upgrade fee that was well worth the price. However, we were stranded with out a room until 6:00 pm due to a computer malfunction during which the staff was unhelpful and a bit rude. Rooms were nice and house keeping was very good, with the exception of them knocking on our door at 11:00 pm to clean the room. Don't know what that was all about. The resort grounds are wonderful and the pool was exceptional. Food was just ok. The buffets were very hit or miss for us. The biggest problem was the inconsistency of the staff. Those that were helpful were extremely pleasant and eager to assist. However, they were definitely in the minority. Many staffers were actually quite rude, especially the front desk attendants. As noted in most reviews, the Star Friends were far and away the friendliest and most helpful. Making reservations with the concierge was a complete hassle. The concierge desk is only open during certain times of the day and the entire process seems to lack common sense. Overall the resort is very nice and provides a good value. Inconsistency of the staff, and dining lowers the overall rating and value of the Del Mar.

We have nothing negative to say about this hotel!Posted Nov 19, 2013
Pros: The food,the show,the long pool,the beach...everything.
Cons: Only the standard rooms cause for a 5 star i was a bit decepointed.
Location: i like the fact that its exclusive and private but theirs a bus that takes you for Playa del carmen for 50pesos and flexible hours to go out.
We loved everything about! The food was very good so much variety from buffet to snacks. The beach is beautiful. The complex is big so if you eat no worries cause you walk to burn calories... We will go back anytime!!

Wonderful ResortPosted Nov 4, 2013
Pros: There buffets/restaurants are wonderful, the pool is huge, the beach is devine....the grill at the beach is the best!!!
Cons: There should be internet services free of charge, as there is in most hotel/resorts.
Location: Playa del Carmen is a wonderful place to visit, the beaches there are so nice. You can jump on a ferry and be in beautiful Cozumel.
A wonderful family resort, with plenty to do. The night shows are fun, the staff are great! The restaurants are wonderful...my favourite was The Gourmet (french) as well as the Japanese. It was so much fun getting dressed up and going to these restaurants which were top of the line! The beach here is amazing, this is a wonderful resort and I highly recommend it, if you are into all-inclusives!

o.k. could be better for a five stars hotelPosted Nov 1, 2013
Pros: The food is good. The beach is nice. The entertainment is very good.
Cons: The shuttle should be available more ofhten. The all restaurants should be available to each guest. The Wi-Fi should be in each room and no charge.
Location: The location is very good. Visit a shopping area located outside of the hotel.
The staff is very friendly but the check in was very slow. The property is very large and we were told that the shuttle goes around every 15 minutes. One day we were waiting for the shuttle at the beach stop about 45 minutes. Try to get the room in the buildings 16 or 17; you will be in the middle of everything. The mini bar at the room supposed to refill every other day but it did not. One day we did not have bottles with water. There are 7 restaurants on the property but you are very limited to make a reservation depends on how long you stay at the hotel. We were there for twelve days and we could make only 4 reservations; one of them must be the Mexican. The restaurants are half empty and when we questioned that the answer was they don’t have enough staff. The buffet next to the beach is good but not too much of variety. The buffet is further down is much bigger. The beach is nice but some days the water was rough. The entertainment was very good; every night was a different show. My biggest concern was Wi-Fi. They have a very limited connection, only in the lobby and with a charge of $3 for an hour.
