Wonderful stay.

Pros: Beautiful Hotel and grounds. Fantastic beach, redecorated rooms.
Cons: Get rid of the noisy Peacocks, they add nothing. Get more English TV channels like CNN or something
Location: Excaret is great. We highly recommend the COBA full day adventure.
Great staff, food & rooms. Can't wait to go back. The lower number buildings are closest to the pool and Beach. Our first night they were booked solid and we stayed in a room in bldg. 20 by the lobby. The next day they moved us to bldg. 22 facing the pool. Just ask and they will try to accommodate.

Not What You Would Expect

Posted Apr 14, 2014
Although the grounds of the property are magical., the facility/resort is not close to a 4 star rating. The facility is very worn, staff not service oriented, work out facility dirty and equipment not noaintained. Everywhere you look walls, ceilings and fixtures chipped, faded or cracked. Should possibly be a 1-2 star at best.

good hotel with nice territory

Cons: free WiFi in the lobby is a 'must' at these days
overall good staying. really nice grounds, very good food, liked the idea of separate pool for wet bar fans. short & cheap taxi ride from Playa del Carmen didn't like beds on concrete pads. diving shop is overpriced, no free WiFi in lobby?! go to Playa for shopping and for much better prices on diving and excursions

Nice

Posted Apr 2, 2014
Pros: The grounds, the wildlife, the Stars, the pool.
Cons: Have it be a real all inclusive and have the food available all day, stock the mini fridge with more than beer.
Location: Location is super. Walking distance to a very nice shopping center.
I loved all the wildlife around the hotel. The pool was great, extremely large with an array of depth. Exercising in the pool was so much fun. The Stars make everything you do fun, fun, fun. I felt that they needed more staff for cocktails. There are only a couple of bars outside and they are spaced very far apart. Service was slow, due to staffing. Also, I am used to having food available all day and into the night. Not so much here... If you went to the buffet around 8:30 or 9, they were starting to tear it down. The food that was out there was not tended to so it was dry. Also, the ONLY drink you can get in the room is beer!!! And only 4 of those. If you wanted a bottle of wine at the table, you had to pay extra. We were on the Quetzal and we all noticed that we received better service at the lobby bar on the Tucan side. We enjoyed the restaurants, the Japanese Steak House was all of our fav's. We had a great time at dinner. The two shows I saw were better than most of the entertainment at the all inclusives. The grounds were beautiful and well kept.

Beautiful beach. Food is mediocre. Lots to do.

Pros: Location & beach.
Cons: Food was somewhat bland.
Location: Head to Playa for shopping or restaurants & night life. Spent a day swimming with turtles & swimming in cenotes. Snorkeling.
Location is great. Easy to get to Playa. Beach is awesome. Food was mediocre.

Very nice clean place

Posted Mar 14, 2014
Pros: Clean rooms!
Location: Very close to town and the ferry.
We stayed in a room close to the entertainment and could hear noise until 11:00 pm. Both my wife and I get up early to walk and go to the beach. So putting up with the noise was necessary. Best beach ever! Food in the buffet was excellent! The restaurant's not so much, however the Japanese restaurant was very good and fun. Drinks at this resort are also very good. I would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a fun time in a nice clean safe place!

Perfect for a family get-together

Posted Mar 9, 2014
Pros: Varied food and drink choices, shaded paths and animals, clean beach and long beach walking access in both directions, competent, friendly staff.
Cons: The peacocks are beautiful and interesting but too noisy for light sleepers. Stock more beach umbrellas! They ran out early every morning.
Location: There are many options, but we didn't get bored with the beach. Playa del Carmen is conveniently nearby, but beware of deceptive pricing and rip-offs.
Our family of mostly single adults gathered to celebrate a birthday, and this was an excellent choice for the time of year. The weather was perfect, and we enjoyed the varied and delicious food, both at the buffets and in the a la carte restaurants. We spent most of our time on the gorgeous beach, but the pool was also outstanding. Different family members enjoyed different activities. There was always something going on, but planned activities were not overly noisy or disruptive for those who just wanted to relax.
