Nice hotel and employees but terrible food & drink

First off the hotel is beautiful & the staff was amazing. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and tried to make sure you have the best stay possible. I had a friend stay here earlier and she advised me to ask for a hotel in one of the buildings closer to the pool/beach. If possible ask for buildings 12-14 bc they are very close. They can't guarentee but I asked for building 14 and got it so I was happy! My room over looked the "forest area" which is basically a path that is very pretty and has some animals living in there. Although the path is small there are flamingos, small waterfalls, peacocks, turtles and other animals I can't pronounce. The best part was in the morning monkeys would be very active. I could hear them from my room and was even woken up by them. A few decided to hang out on my balcony which was fun! The bad part about building 14 was that it's very loud. You are facing a very loud building and can hear music pretty late Into The night! Although I loved the monkeys they were insanely loud and woke me up every morning and I am not a light sleeper. Our room also smelled like mildew. I didn't try to change rooms bc other guests told me their rooms smelled like it as well in different buildings and I didn't want to lose our proximity to the beach and pool. The food is terrible but I feel like it's to be expected at an all inclusive. Even the small restaurants weren't that good. The drinks were weak & the beer is on the warmer side and extra carbonated

Amazing resort

Pros: The jungle, the beach, the food, the stuff...everything.
Cons: The bed pillows were a little hard.
Location: We travelled with a 15 moths baby and we did not take any side trips.
We read the reviews before selecting the resort and we were not dissapointed. From the lobby and going thru the jungle towards the beach everything is spectacular. We had an ocean front suite and the view was amasing. Overall this was a very pleasant experience and we are going back next year.

Good option for this price point

Location: Visit Rio Secreto and skip the Original Snorkeling Adventure
First of all, consider your prices. The staff are amazing here. They are energetic and fun, as well as accommodating. The only issues we had were the sewer odor that leaked into our room through the exhaust fan. This was also noticed by the guests on our trip. We also had a high percentage of visitors who got sick...upwards of 75%. No single thing was isolated as to the cause, but my feeling is the same food for 7 days as well as the buffet food sitting out might have been the culprit. Staff always filled our water bottle supply and for the most part the restaurant food was enjoyable. We won't be coming back to Mexico anytime soon. If your stomach can handle the travel, the staff are pleasant. Check out Rio Secreto for a fun expedition.

We regret that you got sick during your vacations. At IBEROSTAR, Health & Safety is our top priority. Our Health & Safety Department is constantly checking our food quality from the moment it is delivered to our resort. They check that all our strict policies are followed in terms of temperature, conservation and food handling. An external company also audits us regularly, as well as Governmental Organizations and Tour Operators. As well as this, we have a medical center at the Resort that offers medical attention to all our guests that need it and they report cases of illnesses to us so that immediate actions can be taken if there is anything wrong. Nice Hotel near the beach

Pros: The group of young adults who preform at night and then do the activities in the day are amazing! Berenice and Anderson were a joy! And their boss!
Cons: The deserts, they looked beautiful but just too much soft stuff. Cake, cookies, brownies etc would be nice. Rugs by the bed.
Location: Actually, we went to 5th street to shop for just about a hour and then headed back to the pool. We found plenty to do right there.
Our first time to Mexico and will not be our last! From our rooms we were so close to the ocean and the wonderful pool. The grounds are kept up so beautiful, the people who work there are so friendly and there are so many activities.

Great location!

Great resort in Playacar. Rooms are dated, but the location was unbelievable. The beach is absolutely stunning, the jungle is fascinating and the food was actually really good.

Pros: Had a beautiful, easily accessible beach .Lots of chairs and even umbrellas you could put over your chair wherever you sat. Beautiful pools.
Cons: Get rid of throw rug in room- looked dirty. Did not care for the spreads-not sure if clean, should have comforter in removable sheet enclosure.
Location: Location=Playacar. Gated community with a nice shopping plaza and a Starbucks. About 15 minute ride to Xcaret.
It was wonderful but should have at least 1 restaurant during the day for those who do not want to chance it in a buffet. Two of us got sick at the end of stay. Also talked to one other person who had several family members sick. Do not know the cause, maybe not even the hotel as we went to Xcaret while there.

We love what we call the Jungle in the middle

Location: Rio Secreto, & Xhel-ha & Escaret's evening preformance
We have been to the hotel three or four times and just love the feel of the natural setting. What we called the jungle situated between the two sides of the complex is habitat to monkeys agouties, iguana and peacocks to name some of the critters that live there. They have a beautiful ,beautiful pool and grounds. Our friends grandchildren Loved the kids club and of course so did their parents. It's a great place to spend a week. We have introduced this hotel to ten of our best friends- no one has been disappointed.
