Extremely Comfortable Stay on Secluded BeachPosted Oct 4, 2014
Pros: ENORMOUS condo! Shocked at how big the unit & deck was! Kitchen great for cooking, deck w/ large table & hammocks. Nice pool! GREAT for families.
Cons: Power went out one night at 7 and didn't come on until 1 am and there was no backup generator or flashlights.
Location: Very secluded. Located on Jade Bay in South Akumal. 20 min walk on beach to nearest restaurant on Akumal beach. Sea turtles right in front of hotel!
Great place to stay if you want easy, clean LARGE unit. Stocked kitchen makes it easy to save and cook meals. Large deck with table and hammocks overlooking the ocean and stairs to the beach isn't too shabby. 2 pools (1 adult and 1 kid) are very nice and there's a quiet, secluded beach right in front of you. Sea turtles nesting all over the beach. Great snorkeling in front of hotel and about a 15 min walk down the beach. Definitely a place to go if you want the "opposite of Cancun" experience.

Very Nice, Quiet PlacePosted Sep 25, 2014
Pros: Grounds are immaculate. Very clean rooms. Friendly staff. Quiet and secluded. Very good value for the money.
Cons: The buffet breakfast was somewhat lacking.....but certainly acceptable.
Location: Approximately 5 minutes drive northward is the small village of Akumal. Good places to eat. Snorkling at Yal Ku Lagoon park was awesome.
The hotel is located is located on a small quiet dead-end road off the main highway and directly on the beach. The hotel grounds are immaculate, very tropical & lush......very secluded and quiet. If you want action, then stay in Playa del Carmen are Cancun.....this isn't the place for you. This is the type of hotel geared to relaxation and peacefulness. You can walk to the small village of Akumal along the beach (about 15 minutes) or jump in your rental or taxi and it is only a 5 minute ride. Akumal has several quaint places to eat and some small shops. The staff is friendly and helpful. My only issue is that our unit had a locked door that adjoined the adjacent unit (in case someone wants to rent both as a combined larger unit). Unfortunately, this door is no substitute for a solid wall....and you can hear EVERYTHING from the guests staying in the adjacent unit and they can hear you. Not a good set-up. I'm not sure if all units are configured this way.....so you may want to ask. It was very annoying as the adjacent guest had noisy children.

Far away from everythingPosted Jul 17, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel is situation far away from restaurants, shopping and other things to do. The restaurant at the hotel is ridiculously bad. The beach is not swimable, but the view is nice.

DisappointedPosted Jun 12, 2014
Pros: Friendly Staff, room and grounds were very clean.
Cons: Put blow dryers and irons in room
Location: Nothing close by to do.
We were given a room at basement level, literally looked out the window at the ground. None of the usual amenities like blow dryer, iron, and really cheap with the soap! I chose this hotel because it indicated one could snorkel off the beach in front. You cannot, in fact, it is to rocky to even swim. It is a long walk down the beach before you can get in the water. A little too quiet as well, nothing close to do.

Amazing quiet beach front villa!Posted Apr 13, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff, pool by the beach, ocean front property, to too touristy.
Cons: It was great...no suggestions.
Location: Only an hour from the airport in Cancun... lots of amazing ruins to see like Talum and Coba. Many Cenotes close by. Great snorkeling and swimming.
Perfect size...not too touristy, but large enough to feel un-isolated. Very nice property with pool/ocean view rooms, amazingly friendly and personable staff, and roof top open air restaurant. We came for our 25th anniversary, and the restaurant offered to serve us a romantic dinner on the beach or on our private balcony, our choice. It was perfect for a romantic getaway, but I would also bring my kids here for a family vacation. Great snorkeling, shops, and restaurants just a 10 minute walk down the beach. Swam with turtles and rays. Located very close to many amazing activities. We rented a car at the airport and drove to Talum, Yal Ku Lagoon, Coba, several Cenotes....there's lots to do and see. I highly recommend Las Villas Akumal!!!

Relative peace and quiet in a packed resortPosted Apr 12, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel was well run and very efficient at getting things done for us. Staff were always helpful and easily available. The 'junior suite' was excellent and good value in this area. There is a beautiful beach directly in front of the hotel, but it is only suitable for swimming for experienced swimmers, as there are areas of rock close to the shore. About a ten minute walk either way takes you to safer swimming. Rock areas off shore are suitable for snorkelling, however and a good variety of small fish are to be seen in rock pools. Akumal has good restaurants - the hotel didn't offer dinner - and the suite had self-catering facilities and limitless free bottled water.
