Magic blue is a good value boutique hotel. A block off the main strip and a quick walk to a nice area of the beach.

Cons: Refrigerator was not cooling the second day and they replaced it.
This was our second time at Magic Blue and it did not disappoint. Great location and has everything you need for an enjoyable stay in Playa. Quiet, clean, perfect!

Nice boutique hotel, horrible sleep.

Posted Mar 14, 2014
Great location, nice pool area and bar. The room was very clean and the staff was friendly. No hot water the first day. safe didn't work and flashing lights and noise came into the room everynight. They need to invest in some black out curtains, shutters or think about removing the window looking out to the street. Breakfast was below average and could use improvement. Overall we were happy with our stay.

Cons: Wifi very slow in the rooms, Need hooks in the rooms to hang bathing suits and towels
It was a great experience. The breakfasts were fantastic and sustained me for the rest of the day. The staff at the hotel are wonderful. I would totally stay there again

I will definitely stay at this hotel again, but I'm sure you could find better hotels for cheaper price.

Noisy

Posted Jan 28, 2014
Pros: Daytime ambience and clean rooms, staff is congenial
Cons: Soundproofing
Since the last time we stayed at this hotel a new nightclub opened across the street. Late night revelers made for a sleepless night. We were told to ask for a room on the opposite side next time. Disappointing.

Hotel Almost There

Posted Dec 31, 2013 on Hotels.com
Somewhat enjoyed the stay at Magic Blue. Plusses are 1 block away from shopping district & 3 blocks away from beach. Initial impressions are a hip hotel. Minuses are accross from a large disco with music & noise running unitl wee hours of the morning, everything is an additional charge (Pool Towels, Coffee, Parking, etc.) so one was upcharged at a rather expensive place), can't get into your room until 3pm, outdoor porch chairs with cigarette burns and bed pillows that had a filling closely resembling tennis balls. Not a good value. However if you stay, make sure to be on the south & back side of the building as far away from the disco as possible to get a quiet night's sleep & bring a pillow from home.

Great Hotel in the heart of playa del carmen!!

Posted Dec 27, 2013
Pros: Location, staff, coziness, service, pool bartender, room size, pool, atmosphere, value
Cons: Nothing that we saw
Location: The location is great!, Fifth Avenue the pedestrian street and the main attraction of the city with bars, restaurants shops and clubs is steps away
We were in an all inclusive resort in cancun but decided we wanted to get a more personal, urban and cultural experience of Mexico so we decided to visit playa del carmen for a few nights. We had a very nice stay in this boutique hotel. The staff is wonderful always with a smile. The location is excellent as it is just a few steps away from all the action of the quinta avenida. Where everything takes place in Playa as it is full of restaurants, bars, boutiques and night clubs. Its also walking distance to the beach or any of the 2 beach clubs hotel guests have access to. We loved being able to walk everywhere we wanted to go day or night because of its great location. The interior of the hotel is very charming and cozzy, with an atmosphere full of palms, vegetation and palapa style construction which gives a very peaceful feeling when laying in the sun around the pool during the day. You would never imagine there is such an atmosphere inside the hotel when walking by street, it was a very nice surprise. Rooms are clean and modern, and being able to request your own hamoc for your room terrace is a nice touch!. We were al little bit anxious when we saw a comment about some noise in the room but thankfully we did not have any problem at all. The manager explained the rooms went thru a sound proofing renovation just recently that eliminated such issue. :)The buffet breakfast is included and its greaT
