Incredible stay! Beachfront is the way to go!

Posted Oct 1, 2014
Pros: Its at the end of an impossibly cute and beautiful drive through the jungle. Secluded. Amazing staff. Your bungalow is literally 50 ft to ocean.
Cons: Not that it could be improved by the hotel but the ocean in front of the hotel is not calm. You can swim but not snorkel. Rained every day a bit.
Location: At the far end of an impossibly cute drive through the jungle. Definitely go to Grand Cenote about 15 min away and Akumal beach about 20 min away.
Best sleep I've had in years! Definitely upgrade to the beachfront cottage 11, it was worth the extra money. The sound of the ocean, perfect temperature and comfy beds made me sleep like a BABY. Huge unexpected bonus! Nice touches everywhere. Simple but more than enough. We didn't mind that it was secluded and far out because it was so fun to go past all of the other cute bars and jungle hotels on your way to civilization. Would highly recommend. Rudy and Victoria were so great! Amazing staff!

mestizo was great! The staff, the food, the beach side cabana was amazing!!! It was exactly what I was looking for in my stay in Tulum. The only downfall would be the location, it's really far from everything and the cabs really added up. In saying that though, if you hire a bike it makes it much easier to get around. The beach is stunning! I really enjoyed my stay, but I would probably book something a little closer to the the main strip, but still on the beach.

Very nice room on the beach....

Pros: All of the staff were awesome. Tony, Wilbur, and Rudy are great. The staff is really what made our stay so great. Our beach front room was amazing.
Cons: The wifi wasn't strong at all. Brush your teeth with bottled water.
Location: OM for pizza. Simple for seafood.
We had a great stay. Everyone was awesome. Spend the extra $ and get a beach front bungalow, its worth it. Rudy and Tony were awesome and made our trip even more fun. We told them it was our anniversary and we got a free dinner on the beach. There will be topless women on the beach, so if you can't handle seeing that, Tulum is not the place for you. We went to the Tulum ruins, which we would recommend. Akumal Bay was awesome and easy to get to by taxi. We took our own snorkeling gear but they do have it to rent and also lockers you can rent too. Snorkeling with turtles, rays, and fish in calm water. It was very hard to snorkel off of the hotel beach because of the larger waves than at Akumal. We spent an afternoon and went to Playa Del Carmen. Bad idea. Everyone tries to pull you in their shop and sell you weed and the same crap as the guy next door. I wouldn't waste your time or money. Night walks on the beach were great. Make sure you take a flashlight. There are crabs everywhere. When we go back we will rent a car because everywhere you want to go is a long walk and taxi fares add up very quick. Simple was a great place to eat and is right down the road. Also, the pizza at OM resort was awesome and is a short walk up the beach. Back to the Mestizo, they did everything they could to make our trip amazing. Lastly, small bills are pointless in Mexico. Anything less than a fifty peso bill is not needed. A beer is 45 pesos

Great secluded resort

There is no A/C in any of the rooms, so be sure to stay in an oceanfront room so you may enjoy the wonderful breeze coming in at night. The food at the hotel was fresh and delicious. The staff is extremely welcoming and accommodating. The hotel is rustic, large land , sans beautiful Palm trees throughout. Most of the hotels on this strip don't have A/C, but I heard there were a few, which cost more a night. The whole area is about conserving energy. "Eco-friendly!"

Great Value

We stayed at this hotel while attending a wedding at another. We were able to experience both hotels, and I was happy to have chosen Mestizo Boutique. While it wasn't quite as luxurious as the other hotel, the staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean, the location was good, and the price was excellent.

Terrific place quite far down the beach. Excellently run. Not for hipsters or those who wish to see and be seen, but Be Tulum is right next door if you want to sample that kind of vibe.

Relaxing romantic getaway

Posted May 7, 2014 on Hotels.com
Mestizo Hotel is near the end of the strip of beach hotels/cabanas on Tulum playa, but we were able to walk along beach to other restaurants and hotels for nightlife. Very quiet and relaxing during our visit. Comfortable beds. No hot water or A/C but that was fine given the heat and humidity during our stay.

Tulum gem

We stayed here just 1 night before our week stay at a time share. It was so awesome! It's hipster chic. The beach was gorgeous. Food ok at hotel but lots of good food and bars surrounding. I can't wait to go back

Perfect sandy beach bungalow experience

Posted Apr 24, 2014 on Hotels.com
Right on beach. We had a large family room - perfect for three friends travelling. Open plan bathroom a bit awkward at times! Good breakfast. Had lunch here one day too. Quite far down the beach from most of the action. We had a car and there's lots of parking at the hotel within the property. Great Cenote just down the road. More like a lagoon. Overall a great hotel and Tulum a beautiful place to visit.
