Nice hotel, great staff, excellent service & care

Pros: Read my comment about my experience above.
Cons: The shore area - too many rocks in the ocean. The pools were a nice alternative ATM with a very high charge, but there was one and we got cash in USD
Location: For people who wanted to explore things out of the hotel, transportation was available. Xcaret was about 50 minutes away.
The hotel was very nice, clean luxury rooms, refreshed twice daily. The food in all restaurants and the buffet was excellent, fresh, great variety. Service was extraordinary. People were very friendly and showed a lot of concern and extra care in accommodating our son's special diet due to multiple food allergies. They stored our own food in their freezer and refrigerator, prepared it under our instructions and always verified with us about each ingredient to be used. The pools were nice, there was a kids pool which gave us parents some time to relax watching the kids enjoying themselves in the water. There was a zumba class and fitness in the pool, water volleyball, and beach volleyball for the ones looking to exercise. Each night there was a performance inside and a movie outside. There was a little bit of everything for everyone. It was a family friendly resort, but there were some areas with adults only access - one pool and one restaurant for people who wanted to enjoy their quiet time. We witnessed several weddings at the resort during our stay.

Terrible

I tried posting my original review and expedia is not letting me post it for some reason. Basically ill keep it short. We all got sick from the place, it is dirty and understaffed. I DO NOT recommend it.

Great stay

Cons: Ryan was very rude at the vacation package presentation.
Location: Very pretty grounds....to far from airport but not in walking distance to anything. All excursions will pick you up at hotel so no big deal.
We just returned from our honeymoon and had a great time. The entertainment staff was great very fun engaging nice nice people. We loved playing bolleyball lol :) the adult side was kind of boring but if you do not want kids I guess that's the place to be. The grounds were very pretty, restaurants were very good, staff awesome... Really couldn't ask for a better time :) we did do one off site excursion xel-ha, was a great time as well. All in all I read many reviews before I vacation and I truly believe if you go anywhere it's all what you make of it. So have a good time no matter what :) don't let not enough towels or one rude person ruin a good time. Enjoy!!

Nice clean hotel! Quality food!

Overall, my wife and I had a quality experience! Positives: Nice pools, clean rooms, great food, adequate seating on beach and pool area. The check in/out process was quick and easy. Negatives: many on the hotel staff expected a tip. If not given, they did not provide same level of service. I ran out of dollars and only had big bills. I tried to gather change on a few occasions, but nobody wanted to give up their US dollars. I found a bell hope that told me " no " on change. I told him I would tip him to break my $20. He all of a sudden had plentiful amounts of US dollars. That was really my only frustration.

If only they had free internet.

This is an excellent hotel. Loved staying here, but they should provide some sort of free internet, either in a common area or in the rooms.

Beautiful hotel terrible service

Governor suite is stunning. We got married there in June. Staff is terrible. Rude unhappy unhelpful. We have stayed at many resorts and this was by far the most we have ever paid and the worst service we have ever experienced. We have free nights to use at the hotel but we would still never go back.

Family vacation

Our experience was excellent. We stayed in the preferred section and had an ocean view room in building 7. We have no complaints. Hotel staff is excellent and so pleasant. We enjoyed breakfast at the French restaurant (for preferred customers only) Italian and Asian was great ( sushi was delicious) beat time to have dinner without having to wait is before 7 and after 9. We were a family of 5 and always were seated right away. Overall great experience and would go back again.

Good place to spend your vacation.

Pros: Rooms and swimming pools.
Cons: Hotel beach must be cleaned up from water rocks and more umbrellas should be installed so you don't have to run in the morning to guaranty an umbrella
Location: We do not go anywhere and stayed within the resort.
We came with my daughter family having two kids - 6 year old and 2 year old. We all love the room accommodations and the facilities. My wife and I do not care much for swimming pools that were very good, however, we come to Mexico and Caribbean only for warm sea water and a beach. Unfortunately, all 7 days of our vacation the sea was too wavy and stormy so we could not fully enjoy the most important thing in our vacation which was sea. The beach could benefit with more natural umbrellas and less rocks in the water. I would not come to this hotel for the beach. Food was mediocre and nothing special in Carnival buffet, however, it was much better at dinners in different restaurants where you don't need to make reservations - very good idea. Night life was interesting with shows and movies. Here is one huge big minus to this facility: if you come to the main lobby before 10 AM, you are going to be sweating a lot as they do not turn their air-condition on before 10 AM there. It's very cheap for Expedia 4 star rating resort. We have found out that while checking out the last day in the morning. Another excellent thing is that they supply unlimited beach and pool towels without you giving them any plastic card and you don't have to return them. I would recommend that resort to people who loves swimming pools and doesn't care much about the sea and a beach.

Nice hotel.

Other than a little mix-up with my room ( I paid for an ocean view & was given the 1st floor with a garden view ) - they moved me to a 4 th floor room with upgraded premier privileges and an outdoor shower. The staff was friendly, courteous. The polls were great. They do have an adult only quiet pool overlooking the ocean if you want to relax or a series of pools with to s of activities. Both are infinity pools. The beach is large and very clean. The food was great. The French restaurant was our favorite "nice" place to eat but the buffet was also very good with oceanfront. The drinks were top of the line. The entertainment was very nice. We didn't go into Puerto Morales but it was a 10 min taxi ride. I would definitely recommend.
