4th visit

Posted Dec 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
This was our 4th visit to this Hotel. Even though the staff were wonderful and helpful, as usual, we were disappointed to find that the Hotel was under construction and we were not made aware of this ahead of time. it was noisy with construction work. As well, this was the first time that we had incountered unnecessary noise from a large group of young people staying at Hotel who were very rude to us and other guests who asked them to be quiet. As well, the Hotel night desk did not inforce the guiet time which was what we had experienced on previous visits and was one of the many reasons we loved staying there away from the noise of Big hotels and hotels directly on 5th ave. Traveling with our grandson for second time and he had fun. All and all we loved it and will return with hopes of quieter times

good adequate but renovations to H&A and a new building going up next door made for a lot of noise from 8 AM - 6PM 6 days a week. Having said that, I would go there again.

Quick overnight stay in Playa Del Carmen

Posted Nov 23, 2013
Pros: The pool was very nice looking that all the rooms surrounded. The shower was awesome! Lots of room for two people. The price. We booked for $66USD
Cons: The area. When the area doesn't appear safe, having the nicest hotel in the world is not going to help.
Location: I've already described the location problem. Playa Del Carmen is very nice, but this area on this street not so nice.
My wife and I spent the night in Playa Del Carmen after a full day of geocaching there, and we needed a place to stay overnight, so that we could catch the first ferry to Cozumel the next morning. I found this hotel on expedia.com and it was rated well, and it was cheap so I booked it. The hotel is nice, but the problem is that the area around the hotel is not so safe. We checked into the hotel just after dark, which was around 5:30 PM, and walking to the hotel didn't make us feel very uncomfortable. Then we took showers and left the hotel for dinner, and the later it got in the evening, the more uncomfortable we felt walking to and from the hotel. There are lots of very run down properties around the hotel, and lots of locals walking around that look like they were just looking for a target to take. Just be very careful at night if you are planning on renting a room from this hotel, and also if don't speak Spanish, know that you have to put your room key in what appeared to be a room key holder next to the door, otherwise all the lights in your hotel room will shutoff after a few minutes.

A Little Too Spartan

Posted Nov 10, 2013 on Hotels.com
We stayed here 4 nights. The rooms were clean, seemed safe, and the hotel was near everything we needed. The hotel was undergoing major renovation which meant a lot of noise from 7:30 AM until late afternoon. We were asked for a deposit (100 pesos) to have silverware for the in-room kitchenette. There were no pool towels - we received 2 bath towels and 1 hand towel daily. We had no hot water. The room required the only key card given to run the electric, including the refrigerator - when you left the room everything electrical turned off. Management did provide another card to keep the refrigerator on when requested. The hotel had a youth hostel atmosphere. Overall it was okay, mainly because the rooms were clean, safe and the location was good. We will try somewhere else the next we're in town.

descent accommodations for a small price

Posted Oct 29, 2013
Pros: cost, proximity to bus/ferry
Cons: put alarm clocks in the rooms
if you are not concerned with staying right on 5th ave and are only looking for a less expensive place to stay, this may be for you. located on 20th ave between 2nd and 4th streets, it is a relatively short walk from the ADO bus and/or the ferry dock. the rooms are nice and clean with a big shower. a/c and i had a small fridge, micro, and two burner electric cook top. the room was missing a clock however. they also had free wifi and a pool. in the morning they offered a nice breakfast with eggs, fruit, juice, coffee, toast, for 55 pesos (about 4 or 5 bucks). my only concern when checking in was the fact they were under major construction which would have been nice to know ahead of time. it was not much of a problem for me as i was diving every day anyway. but still.....

Hotel in center of Playa del Carmen

Posted Sep 14, 2013
Pros: Small and close to everything, very local.
Cons: Noise due to construction.
Location: Shopping 5th Ave, Restaurants, Beach at Playa Del Carmen
Hotel close to shopping and short walk to beach. As of September 2013 much construction at hotel and very loud noise during day. Can not recommend until re-model is finished.

Off the "strip"

Posted Aug 28, 2013
Pros: It is off the "strip"
Cons: Post a notice before finalizing reservations of all the hotel construction
Location: Late night taco shop around the corner
Hard beds, clean room, microwave, tv, wifi, pool, kitchenette. Beds are very hard and hot water system is disappointing. Hotel staff had to reset hot water tank every shower. Hotel is going through major construction, they are addind another floor to the building. Major noise and dusty conditions Ensure hotel is complete before making reseervations here.

Avoid while building works are in progress..

Posted Aug 12, 2013
Pros: The air conditioning was amazing!!
Cons: The building works & associated noises which woke me up every day at 9am..
Location: Great location for 5th Avenue & the beach
This hotel was undergoing building works, to add a third level, which were in operation Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm - a fact I only found out when I got to my room & saw the notice beside the phone. For that reason I would definitely not recommend this hotel while the works are in progress & there was banging all day long which could be heard in the rooms & also around the pool area. Some small pieces of debris were also falling down onto the loungers etc. There was also a problem with the hot water in my room & I didn't have any for two out of the five days I stayed there

Close to ferry and ADO

Posted Jul 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
We really appreciated the microwave and small refrigerator in our room, especially since the restaurant was closed at the hotel for remodeling. The maid was very nice and did a great job cleaning our room with different towel creations each day. The front desk clerks spoke enough English to help us with our requests. Since it was close to the ferry and ADO bus station we would stay here again.
