Beautiful hotelPosted Dec 23, 2014
Came for three nights. Wished we booked longer. Very close to loud night clubs but close the door and the "door doof" disappears. The staff were wonderful without being intrusive.

Amazing Small HotelPosted Dec 16, 2014
Pros: The balcony and complementary breakfast was great. The small kitchenette was so handy! Everything was clean. The setting was lovely.
Cons: Water pressure and hot water were not what they should be at all times. It is an older building in another country, so this wasn't unexpected.
Location: It was on the beach and near shops and restaurants. Less than an hour from archeological sites and adventure parks like Xel Ha. Great location.
We were very pleased with the room which had a small kitchen area with sink, microwave, two burner stove, glasses, pots and pans, and other needed items. It was very clean and had no musty, tropical smells like some hotels close to a beach. The pool was tiny but attractive. The balcony and complementary breakfast was wonderful. The beach is a working beach with small boats anchored there, but you could walk to other areas easily. Beach chairs and umbrellas were provided. Balcony was a delight with a hammock and dining table. Location was in an area close to the main shopping street and many restaurants. Drinking water was provided. There was no onsite parking, but we found parking spaces within a block or so from the hotel. Our only problem was that water pressure dropped for several minutes after the toilet was flushed. The television was a large flat screen. We were pleased that an in room safe was also included. We would go back to this hotel in a heartbeat. For a budget hotel, it was all we could have expected and more!

Excelente hotel pequeño y acogedor.Posted Dec 9, 2014

Location was fantasticPosted Dec 8, 2014
Cons: The hotel was fine and can't really think of anything that needs to be improved
Location: Restaurants, clubs, bars, shops and the beach
The hotel was located very centrally to all, the beach, the town and restaurants. Walking distance to all. The staff were very helpful and assisted us in every way.

Nice quaint hotel on the beach!Posted Nov 30, 2014
Pros: The small size and friendly staff.
Cons: It would be nice if they could get the nightclub to turn it down a bit. I know that is out of their hands though.
Location: Very close to the pedestrian mall with lots of shops and restaurants. Close to the ferry to Cozumel.
We loved the small size of this hotel, you felt like a true guest here. The room were a nice size and had a kitchenette so we hit the Mega on day one and stocked up on food and drinks. We made our own eggs and sausage to go with the included breakfast of coffee/tea, croissants & toast and juice. The staff was very helpful and Carlos did a great job with arranging day trips and tours. The only downside at all is the nightclub a couple of doors down, you could hear the music at night but once inside the room it was not a problem, the rooms are very sound proof. The food they serve on the beach was really good and the mixed ceveche was amazing, we ate it every day.

Wonderful Honeymoon SpotPosted Oct 22, 2014
We stayed at Playa Palms for our week-long honeymoon in October and it was absolutely wonderful. We wanted to go to Playa del Carmen not just for the gorgeous beaches but also for the array of activities that can be done in the fairly close vicinity- exploring ancient Mayan ruins and Cinotes, experiencing Mexican culture and landscape, eating delicious tacos from street vendors... so staying at a huge resort was out of the question for us. We wanted to treat ourselves for our honeymoon though, and Playa Palms was the perfect boutique hotel right on the beach, close to the main drag of shops and restaurants. It's very close to car rental places if you want to escape for the day, and it's literally next door to all the best nightlife in town. We stayed in the Ocean Front Studio which was on the top floor and it had incredible unobstructed views of the ocean that you can see while you're in bed. It also had a little loft with a single bed that would be fun for kids but we didn't utilize that at all. Breakfast was delivered to our patio every day, we had a kitchenette and minifridge that we could stock up with snacks so the lack of a hotel restaurant was not an issue at all. The bed was a little hard and our backs were a little sore after 6 days but nothing that a nice waterfront massage couldn't remedy. The staff was attentive and friendly too! Overall it was incredible stay and I'd definitely recommend Playa Palms to fellow travelers!

Great little boutique hotel right on beachPosted Oct 1, 2014
Cons: They need better sound proof windows!!!!!!
Really enjoyed this hotel, very cute, great location close to 5th ave. Staff very nice, helpful, and will go out of their way to help you. Only thing that was annoying was the loud music from 5th ave, but I did know this may be a problem from the beginning. Our 1st room right on the street was like we were right in the middle of the club, so loud! We did ask to be moved and were given an ocean front room, 214 which was great. Perfect view from the porch and we could not hear the music!

Grosse déceptionPosted Sep 19, 2014 on Hotels.com
