Posada Picalu B&B Caribeno

This little hotel was worth the cost. What I liked most about it was1. the owner Roberto was extremely nice 2. The internet was great; 3. the bed was extremely comfortable 4. the other guests were very pleasant to converse with at breakfast (I was there alone).

SEVEN keys. Yes, they give you 7 keys when you get there. The keys are not labeled; you have to figure it out. At night, some of the doors are dark. You will have fun opening the lock! There are keys for the front gate, the front door, your room, your balcony, the pool area, etc. We left after the first night and found a better hotel for about the same price. This place does not resemble it's advertising by any stretch! Our room did not have a bathroom door. Yes, others could watch you use the toilet (you could see right through the bamboo beads they hung on the empty door frame). We had a system where one of us would leave the room while the other had to use the toilet. Our shower did not drain. Our "balcony" door did not open properly. Our safe did not work. There were spider webs in our room. The wifi did not work. The people in the room across from us were also unhappy; their AC was broken. The optional airport pickup? $100US! That's more than double the price of a private taxi! Private pool? It's NOT private... you share it with many other apartment owners. The only employee you’ll meet (not the owner, we never met or saw him), is only there for breakfast and when you arrive (he was late, and we had to find somewhere to hang out with our luggage). Otherwise, he does not stay there and there are no other staff if you have a problem. Our room was also very noisy. It actually would have been quieter near the bar area on 5th Ave. Stay elsewhere.
