Condo on beautiful private beach.

Posted Mar 31, 2014
Cons: Better food options. Stock the kitchen better - include bowls, Tupperware, Knives that are actually sharp, dish soap.
Location: 5 minutes from playa by car. Xel-Ha and Tulum are about 45 minutes away. Downtown playa is very fun to walk around, shop, eat, and people watch.
Mareazul beachfront condos were nice, on beautiful private beach. The resort was very quite. Gorgeous, huge pool. This resort is located about 5 minutes from downtown Playa by car. Highly recommended renting a car to get around. Resort is located in a large complex called Grand Coral. If you look for Mareazul, as listed on internet sites, you will never find it (as we experienced the hard way). Not much for food options - best food is located at the pool bar and grill. Recommend purchasing groceries at the grocery store in playa. Beach is very private, clean and gorgeous. No need to fight over beach chairs - they have plenty available. If you are looking for a "party atmosphere" this is not the place for you. Very quite and tranquil.

Location is great, private quiet beach

Posted Mar 24, 2014
Cons: The queen size mattresses are very uncomfortable(hard), more kitchenware needed
Location in a quiet surrounding, perfect for relaxing. The pool area is great, not overcrowded. A lot of deckchairs available at any time.To go to downtown you need a car, but that's fine because you need one too for all your sightseeing. The beach is great, no vendors at all. The apartment (the one with little private pool)is huge and comfortable, enough space for four guests.Kitchen with great equipment, but less kitchenware like strainer, pan lift, bowls etc. Keep in mind, that this is not a hotel, you have room service, breakfast at the Beach Club and a snack bar at the pool area with meals, but that's all. No entertainment or anything else. We enjoyed our stay!

Pros: Best room I ever had
Cons: No wifi at rooms
Location: Is a little far from downtown, but you can easily take a cab or a minibus (colectivo).
The room is amazing. Best room I ever had in my life. Full equiped kitchen, great bed, jacuzzi at the balcony... The pool and beach are great.

Need a car

Posted Mar 14, 2014
Great rooms, massive pool area and beach. The Mare Azul is a condo complex and thus service is minimal. There are two restaurants on site but they close at 5. The resort is not in town and really needs a car to be enjoyed. When we checked in they said we booked our two bedroom Condo for only two people and we needed to pay for our two kids - it came out to an extra 20 percent. I was beginning to think I made a mistake when booking until another group of four checking in later had the same issue. Still not sure if it is the condo or an Expedia issue.

Great for price.

Posted Feb 16, 2014
Pros: Room, price, pool.
Cons: Not much in kitchen in terms of wine bottles, napkins, dishwater detergent, etc.
Location: Beach, pool. A hike into town by foot.
At $200 + for a two bedroom suite what a steal. Condo nice if not on beach. Pool good and nice beach. Breakfast was ok. About 15 minutes and $14 into town but overall wonderful, quiet and fun.

Nice hotel on the beach

Posted Sep 24, 2013
Pros: Staff was friendly and went out of their way to serve.
Location: Not within walking distance of Playa del Carmen. You need a car to get around.
Nice, secure beach location. Beautiful, well-maintained grounds. Not close to any restaurants and the ones on site close at 5. Food a bit expensive, but a full breakfast (juice, coffee, fruit, yogurt, granola, eggs, pancakes, French toast, omelets) is included. Great site for a wedding.

V ery Realxing and great price

It's more of a condo complex than a hotel. Not a lot of amenities other than small poolside restaurant that's open through lunch. The front-desk closes at 10pm as well. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are beautiful (we had a 2 bedroom penthouse with granite kitchen and 3 bathrooms - kind of an overkill for just the 2 of us but beautiful nonetheless), and the beach is amazing. It's a great place to go if you want peace and quiet. You are not in walking distance to anywhere so you will either need a car (which we rented) or rely on taxis to take you to town about 3 miles away. The front desk staff's English-language skills are limited; I called the front desk from my cell because we didn't want the cleaning staff to clean the rooms as we forgot to put our valuables away....the frontdesk thought I was asking for a taxi and even though I thought I finally got through when we got back our room was cleaned....nothing was taken though. On another note, the rooms are not equipped with phones so if you want to make a call to the front desk then you have to use your cell phone or take the long walk over there, which proved inconvenient when our water was shutoff for some inexplicable reason. I had to call twice at my own expense to get someone over to fix it, and no compensation was offered for our time wasted or the charge to my phone. All in all, it is a beautiful complex but only go if you are looking for a private experience as if you were living there.

Great condo in the Riviera Maya. IT'S NOT A HOTEL

Posted Mar 22, 2013
Location: The location is great, even though is 45 minutes from the airport.
The most important thing to know is that IT IS NOT A HOTEL. It is a very nice complex built as condominiums. Some of this units are rented. They are very comfortable, new, modern, equipped with basic things, but if you are thinking you are going to be serviced as a Hotel....go to a Hotel. There is no telephone in the condo, so if you need anything, you have to go to the front desk. Very nice ladies will make your bed, change your towels everyday, and clean around, but won't wash dishes. The place is superb, very well maintained, with beautiful gardens and pools. You'll find the best beach with white, smooth sand in the Caribbean. You NEED a car to get there because the shuttle from the airport is very expensive. It is 5 minute drive to downtown Playa del Carmen and 45 minutes to the airport. Breakfast is included, the service is slow because everything is done when you order, but the food is great. It has a master bedroom with a king size bed and a second room with two queen beds. Each one with a full bathroom. You can easily sleep six. I would highly recommend going to Sams (15-20 min drive) or other grocery store to buy food and drinks because each unit has a full kitchen. We really enjoyed our stay!!
