Nice hotel with great wait staff.Posted Nov 21, 2013
Pros: The wait staff was friendly and grounds were kept impeccable. The restaurants were decent (I wasn't expecting much considering it was an all-inclusive
Cons: The hotel was extremely damp. I'm not sure if there's anything they can do about this, but our bathing suits and clothing never dried.
Location: Playa del Carmen is a short 20-minute walk. Plenty of shops and restaurants to go to.
Very nice stay. Riu Palace had a nice decor and I really enjoyed the purple theme throughout the hotel. The wait staff was extremely attentive and the drinks were pretty good! I didn't mind the shows at night, either. I mean, it wasn't Las Vegas, but I thought they were pretty decent. The beach was very nice. The only thing I really wish could have changed was the weather. It rained a bit more than I would have liked, but of course, this isn't the hotel's fault.

Riu met and exceeded my expectationsPosted Sep 10, 2013
Pros: The room, food, service, beach, room was cleaned twice per day.
Cons: Deserts often tasted bland for some reason, take orders for food and drinks in beach loungers, bigger room service menu,
Location: Take the ADO bus from the airport, it's safe clean and cheaper for couples, then take 6 or 7 dollar taxi to hotel. Near Dolphins, ruins, cenotes.
I went with my girlfriend for vacation and did a lot of research ahead of time and was absolutely satisfied with my decision. We checked in around 4 or 5 pm and were greeted with a drink by the front desk. We were promptly helped to our room and felt a sense of relief upon entering the room knowing that the accommodations were what we expected. I loved the grey monochromatic with splashes of color throughout the resort, as we visited the other Riu resorts near by we thought Palace Mexico was the best. The service around the resort was excellent, loved how employees would approach us to take a drink order. Loved that they had hand sanitizer near the entrance to the buffet, they should add more of those to help prevent illness as people are bringing germs in from all over the world at this resort. While you can't drink the room water, they supplied us with plenty of bottled water and any of the water served is safe to drink, don't forget to brush with bottled water as well. You can tell this place is managed extremely well because the young manager often wearing a neck tie or suit walks around constantly all hours of the day looking at the facilities, food, and observing people. They were doing some noisy maintenance during our visit but kept it to day time hours when most were at the beach or pool, I think they were adding vents to the rooms to allow moisture to escape and fresh air to enter. The beach is one of the best I have ever seen, although snorkeling is boring her

Wonderful Resort, third time herePosted Sep 5, 2013
Pros: Everything, we will definitely go back. Located in Playa car, which is a small gated community w/ about 15 other resorts, 5 Riu's that you can enjoy!
Cons: The whole experience was amazing! I miss the old design style before the renovation, but it still looked wonderful! We will be back, GREAT VACATION!
This was our third trip to the Riu Palace Mexico and it is just as amazing as it always has been! The service is world class and if you are traveling with kids the staff goes out of their way to learn their name(s) and make them feel special. We first visited this hotel in 2004 for our honeymoon and this was our first time back since the renovation. The remodel is very clean, but it does not have the typical old world Mexico feel, if you are looking for that go to the Riu Palace Riviera Maya (four hotels up the road), same great food, service, entertainment and Riu class, but the design has the traditional Mexico feel (like the Riu Palace Mexico used to be). With that said, we would gladly go back to this hotel, it was wonderful and the remodel is beautiful, just more of a contemporary feel. I cant say enough great things about the staff, they work 12-14 hour days and are so genuine and friendly! Everything from the airport transfer, the check in (Manuel the doorman), the bartenders, entertainment staff, wait staff, chefs, all top notch. If you are considering this resort I would gladly recommend it! We have been spoiled by Riu Palace Resorts, it is always the first place we look! We initially had another resort booked in Puerto Morales but swapped to the Riu Palace because we new it would be amazing! At first we thought a resort that catered to kids would be better for us traveling w/ a three year old, but it was a great family vacation and we will be back.

The best vacation ever!!Posted Aug 7, 2013
Pros: The comfort, the kindness of the staff, the location, everything.
Cons: My only recommendation is that the hotel provide transportation for guests to move to each of the 5 Riu hotels. We couldn't know for this reason.
Location: There is a lot of things to do, you can go visit Cozumel island, Xcaret, Tulum and some other atractions.
We really enjoyed the days that we stayed at this hotel, everything was amazing!!

Great hotel on beautiful beachPosted Jul 25, 2013
Pros: The food is fantastic, the beach is amazing, the staff are warm and friendly and always ready to help.
Cons: The beds are not very comfortable. The bathroom area is odd. Toilet door is too close. Pools are uninteresting - should be free form
Location: Playa del Carmen is a short walk up the beach. Shops near by. Cozumel ferry close. Coba/Tulum/Chichen Itza. Lots to do
The Riu Palace Mexico is a great hotel with wonderful, warm staff in a beautiful setting. The beach is fantastic. Food is great and there is so much variety. The pools are uninspiring: all the same depth and rectangular. The infinity pool is very shallow so many people use it as a foot bath, ick. Beds are not that comfortable and bathroom area is weird, but aside from that the hotel is fantastic and would definitely recommend it. It is close to Playa del Carmen shopping and ferry to Cozumel.

Had a great time.Posted Jun 17, 2013
Pros: Quality of faclity from layout, architecture design, construction components used, and maintenance. Superb service.
Cons: Room air conditioning a little too cold for me. Maybe a dehumidifier and warmer setting would be better.
Location: The most memorable experience was diving in cenote.
This is among the best resort we've vacationed at. The facility is newly rennovated with contemporary design and extremely well maintained to all the details. The rooms are cleaned serveral times everyday. The main restaurant is the buffet Don Julien. I think its quality is better than Bellagio's and the service is very friendly, attentive, and prompt.
