Great hotel! Wonderful staff! Loved it!!!Posted Aug 26, 2014
We had the best time in the world. The riu yucatan was very clean, nice, and a wonderful place to stay. The staff was fantastic and very accommodating. They always had a smile on their faces, and were always ready to help whenever they could. The hotel was extremely clean and we never had a problem with anything.

Nice hotel with so so rooms.Posted Aug 20, 2014
Enjoyed our stay at Riu Yucatan. The food was good, the staff friendly the shows were an added plus, but the rooms left something to be desired. Two full size beds connected together. Shower only (no tub) glass door with no privacy and completely in the open.

Well located hotel, nice beach!Posted Aug 12, 2014
Pros: location and beach
Cons: staff attitude
Location: playa del carmen quinta avenida are so close so if you want some party you can definately go there.
Be prepared to wait for your room after 3:00 pm , wear summer clothes! ... Hotel is nice, everything is in walking distance , installations are clean, the pool areas are nice and the beach is clean and pretty. It would be nice to have waiters that can bring the drinks to the pool or beach. Also the towel station and restaurant by pool close too early, they definitely should consider keeping them opened longer because a lot of people stay around pool later , also you get hungry and have to go to the lobby to get something. Also there is a lot you can improve in the after hours snack station at the lobby... it was always empty and messy. In general I felt the lobby staff to be not helpful and the hotel does not try to find a way to help you. You should be a little more flexible regarding people in late hours in lobby bar, people coming in the lobby to meet with friends and leave, etc. You have a nice hotel but it would be great if you improved those little things. Thanks

Comfortable hotel stayPosted Jul 29, 2014
Very pleasant hotel staff, all services were provided as advertised. the rooms were a bit underwhelming after seeing the pics online. Breakfast was incredible, and the variety offered at lunch and dinner was exceptional at the price paid. However lunch and dinner were not as tasty as breakfast, and mixed drinks at the bars were horrible. Yucatan did not provide the Mexican hacienda style, as the other Riu hotels in Playacar. The cheaper Riu hotels were more aesthically pleasing. Therefore I will recommend the Riu hotel chain but not Yucatan.

Four pools and right on the beachPosted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: The staff was very nice. And the pools except for the kids pool were very nice.
Cons: The humidity problem in the rooms should be addressed somehow.
Location: Playa del Carmen is about 25 min walk away if you walk on the beach, or a short cab ride away. Tulum is an hour away, cenotes, and parks near.
The hotel is very pretty, with nice pools that are not overcrowded. The kids pool was sad though, as was the kids club, it was small out of the way and did not match the feel of the rest of the facilities. The swim up bar was nice in the early hours but later in the day the water would get cloudy and did not look appealing. The rooms were just right in size. However there was not enough separation from the bathroom and the rest of the room. The room was clean in general but the vents had visible dust, and the corners seemed dirty, or maybe moldy? The phone in our room never worked, even though it was "looked at" a few times. And it was extremely humid in the rooms- the clothes never dried and the bed linens always felt moist. It looked nice but it could use a little more upkeep. There was a huge variety in food but there was not enough Mexican food and overall it was just ok. The food at the restaurants was better, but you have to make a reservation to go to those.

Great ambiance!Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: The beach is very nice and the crowd was mostly young pleasant Europeans.
Cons: We would have loved to have some music on the beach or at the pool. They played music only one or two hours a day at the pool.
Location: 5th Ave. is a must see and just a 10 min ride by taxi!
We just came back from a 9 days stay at Riu Yucatan and had a lovely time there! The beach is beautiful; white powder sand and lots of palm trees. The water is a bit wavy and rough on some days. Not very pleasant for kids when it gets into their eyes and nose and mouth since its super salty. The weather was beautiful the whole time during our stay; a little windy on some days which was actually nice cause it cooled us down. At check in we were a bit disappointed since we had requested our rooms to be in block 5 three weeks in advance and found out that they put us in block 2. I asked them to change our rooms but they said they don't have any available in block 5. I believe they just didn't care enough other wise three weeks in advance is reasonable time for them to accommodate our request. Any ways block 2 wasn't too bad and was close to everything. I also requested a late check out cause our pick up time was at 2:00 pm and yet again my request was denied cause they said the hotel was overbooked. Which I don't believe that was the case cause I could see many rooms were empty from their balconies! I can say that the front desk had a bit aggressive attitude but maybe this was a cultural thing since we are used to the customer service in US! The cleaning crew worked very hard to make everything spotless and they were always nice and polite. Overall we were happy with our hotel choice and I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends.

Wonderful Beach Front ResortPosted Jul 22, 2014
We have been to Playa del Carmen before and stayed at another resort but wanted to try some where new. So glad we picked the Riu Yucatan. The whole staff goes out of their way to make sure you have the best time while staying at the Yucatan. If you should have any type of problem they will correct ASAP. They are always cleaning whether its your room, the beautiful grounds with all the plants and flowers. The beach is sandy and beautiful. The food was good. Lots of different choices to pick from and try new things. The lobby bar is great place to just sit, drink relax and have fun. All the bartenders are awesome. It was All Inclusive Resort but we still tipped the staff (they work hard). We will go back to Riu Yucatan. We booked through Expedia the shuttle too. It was Best day Travel. Great job everyone!! We hated to leave. See you soon.
