Since children under age 13 are not allowed at the resort, the resort is a tranquil sanctuary, filled with soothing music in public areas and quiet elsewhere. Chilled champagne and towels greet guests in a hushed, fragrant, skylit lobby featuring white columns and Spanish-style paintings.

Among the Royal Hideaway's amenities is a full-service health-and-beauty spa offering various massage techniques, body and facial treatments, and hair and nail care (surcharges for all products, treatments, and services). Guests of Royal Hideaway Playacar All Inclusive can try a range of land and water sports including beach soccer, bocce ball, kayaking and windsurfing, all while using the resort's equipment. As well, two tennis courts, six swimming pools, and a fitness center with cardio and weight equipment plus spa tub and sauna, offer plenty of facilities to enjoy at this Playa del Carmen resort.

Golf enthusiasts do not have to go far: the entrance to Playacar Golf Club is 150 meters (164 yards) away. The facility provides an 18-hole, par 72 championship golf course designed by Robert Von Hagge. (Golf incurs surcharges for greens fees and equipment rental.)
