Horrible experience!Posted Oct 18, 2014
I would never go back to this hotel and would never recommend it to anyone! I arrived in the hotel around 3:30am after a 10 hour flight and I was checked into a pre-occupied room! I walked on a half naked scared guy screaming why I'm in his room at almost 4am.. I went back to the front desk and the young guy at the front desk was laughing and said "Ooops, small mistake "! I was moved into a differnent section in the hotel, but wasn't happy with the room and it's condition. I went to sleep for few hours and went back to the front desk around noon. As I was waiting at the front desk, a couple walked up and told one of the ladies their key wasn't working. She went to grab a new key for them. She returned shorty and gave them their new room keys. I noticed the room number looked very familiar! that's when I realized the lady had just given access to my room to the couple...! I was really upset, because all my personal belongings were in the room and asked to speak to a manager... The manager didn't seem to care so I checked out of the hotel and moved to a completely different resort! I would NEVER go back or recommend this hotel to anyone! They obviously don't really know what's going on in their property and how to handle customers! That's all I can say for this place! Completely disappointed from the resort!

Eco & FunPosted Oct 13, 2014
This was a blast. We went my a ton of family members. It was beautiful, in the jungle. We had good food, good entertainment. The staff was so great, very friendly. Will definitely revisit some day.

Eco experience was good...Posted Oct 11, 2014
Pros: Good service and helpful staff.
Cons: Organized tours of the facilities and grounds with other vacationers would have been very nice. There are many features that can be overlooked.
Location: Playa is nearby though taxi is expensive.
Knowing of the differing levels of service and available restaurants, would have been very helpful. Took this vacation thinking all pools were available to all patrons, though not the case. Staff was very courteous and helpful in this regard. Beach could have been better maintained by removing more kelp that had washed up. Overall this is a very nice resort for a get-away.

Great resort - totally worth it!Posted Oct 1, 2014
Pros: Family fun. Great for all ages, everyone can enjoy. Some Mayan ruins and cenotes are inside the resort area. "Eco" experience is awesome.
Location: Playa Del Carmen downtown is a great place to go for an evening stroll and local food and shopping. Chichen Itza is not too far from here.
I was trying to book my vacation keeping in mind that I was travelling with the whole family; 5 adults and 2 kids (one 3 yr old & the other 3 mth old) and I'm glad I stumbled upon Sandos Caracol which is one of the best choices for people travelling with family. The resort has 5 A La Carte restaurants, 3 buffet restaurants, 7 bars, 5 pools (including a kids waterpark), Spa & Gym, Sports room and basically everything you can ask for. I love the part where if you're not planning to leave your resort there is enough things to keep you busy inside. The Xcalacoco experience is amazing and they have shows every night to keep you entertained. The drinks in the bars are great too, not too sweet and the staff is just amazing - always smiling and ready to help. They have a couples / adults only area but you can only book when you're in the Royal Elite Vacation club. You also get invited to attend the presentation on how to join this club (just like a time share presentation but I understand that they are promoting their own brand so that people book direct instead of going through agencies)

Jungle on the beachPosted Sep 27, 2014
My son (age 5) and I went on a quick getaway to this place. So glad I picked it he really enjoyed it and the night shows obviously were amazing! We didn't use much of the big pool we stayed on the quieter side. The Mediterranean rest. was my favorite! Since it feels as if you're in the middle of the jungle there will be a lot of small bugs in your room on a daily basis but the staff cleans everyday and more of you ask. Overall had a great experience with my son! Family will really enjoy it.

Staff friendly. Let me use computer and print things for free. Nice breakfast. Wish they would have had a crib to use.

OK Hotel.Posted Sep 22, 2014
Pool is really not the top, but could be good if you upgrade onsite - but then for adults only... Beach is not the best either. Eco-concept is good and this hotel is a Kids Place for sure. Towels can only be changed at the main pool if you don't have the gold status, so annoying, especially when you have 4 towels to carry all day long and again the place is huge... May kids go back alone? :-)

Nice hotelPosted Sep 11, 2014
The hotel is nice BUT (1) there are rocks when you enter the water and i strongly recommend purchasing a pair of shoes that you can wear and (2) if you are traveling without children try to book the select adult package (if you don't, you can always upgrade for $22 per person per night when you get to the hotel)-the rooms are nicer and you will be allowed to go to the select pool and beach which I found to be nicer as well. Otherwise, the staff was very nice and the resort is huge. I recommend this resort. It's not a 5 star luxury hotel but very nice clean place!
