Pros: Good entertainment and food.
Cons: Transporting patrons
This hotel is well equipped and covers all the needs for a great family vacation. However, we requested 4 rooms close to each other. When we arrived the rooms were scattered in four different corners of the two buildings. Two of them in an adults only section. This excluded my two grandchildren from being able to visit with me. Also, the two buildings were very far from the beach with very sporadic tram transportation available.

Very nice hotel, but staff could be a bit more helpful. Long walks from the rooms to the beach.

Perfect for families!Posted Jun 25, 2015
Pros: Everything! It was the best vacation we have had!
Cons: Nothing I can think of!
Location: We did an extreme adrenaline adventure very close by.
We came to Sandos Playacar with a big group of people, adults and teenagers, and had the best time! The kids were occupied with sports and games and a teen club while the adults enjoyed the pool, the beach and the disco!

Great all inclusivePosted Jun 25, 2015
Pros: Loved the adults only options and premium drink wristband.
Cons: The beds are a bit hard
Location: Playa Del Carmen is a $10 cab ride away. The shops, bars, and restaurants are fun
We had a fantastic time staying in the adults only section. The rooms were modern and clean. The adults only pool had a swim up bar and activities. The French restaurant and Brazilian were also fantastic for an all inclusive. We will definitely be back!

Worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Once you pay the all- inclusive amount, any ideas of "service" should be abandoned. They make no effort to resolve issues.

Excellent resort with a great beachPosted Jun 21, 2015
Pros: Beach, Food, Vibe, and Entertainment
Cons: Entertainment was good, but "singers" were 95%+ dubbed over by the original artist. I would have preferred more chicken breast menu options
Location: Playa Del Carmen is just three miles North of the hotel. An easy run, $6 taxi, or borrow a hotel bike (free).
Beach - fantastic. Seaweed is a problem at times up and down the coast (so don't hold that against any particular resort). Food - pretty good. All restaurants were good to very good and buffet selection is excellent. Selection/quality at the beach bar could be easily improved. Staff - very good overall. Some reception staff did not seem eager to help. Room - basic, hard beds and hard pillows (we requested softer pillows and a topper, which added comfort). Note that adults only and newer rooms are farther from the beach.

Very large resort. The walk from the family section to the beach or main pool was no big deal unless you are not able. The walk was enjoyable. Very friendly staff. Sparkling pools. Terrific beach sand. Our beds were not uncomfortable. Food was good. I think it was a good value for families. It's close to downtown which was nice. Pack a rain jacket!!

DisappointingPosted Jun 17, 2015
We stayed at Sandos about 9 months ago and had a nice vacation. So we decided to return with the family (3 kids 14,12,10). It was very disappointing the second time around. The food was redundant and mediocre quality. The restaurants were extremely slow (plan on about a 1.5-2hr meal) and most servers were unfriendly. The bar staff seemed disgruntled compared to our last visit when they were personable and happy. On a good note, the Crepe lady was always smiling and happy. She appeared to be the only employee who liked her job. Rooms-We stayed in a Hacienda suite. The beds were horribly uncomfortable, pillows were like crumpled bricks and the back door flooded every time it rained. The air conditioner was set not to go below 78 degrees. Sadly, we will not be returning to this hotel again and are unable to recommend this hotel to friends and family. So from now on, I'll stop raving about this hotel as I did after our first vacation.

Great place if you are looking for fun activities and great food! You can't miss the French, Mediterranean, Brazilian and Argentinian restaurant, they are all inclusive with no wait list and you can eat as much us you want. My husband loved the carpaccio at the French restaurant. My only concern was with their Gulf Cart transportation system, we were left waiting 1 hour because the last lazy driver decided to leave work early and never showed up, I'm pregnant and there was a lady on Wheel Chair he didn't care, just left.
