Dirty room, restaurants are just sick. When we got there the half of the resort was under construction. (Nov 3, 2014)

Good hotel facilities but average roomsPosted Nov 18, 2014
Pros: The adults only pool and the night shows.
Cons: Rooms need a major overhaul they are very old with dark coloured dated decor - need all new pillows or a pillow menu and mattresses and offer doonas.
Location: Location was good, on the beach and a 5min taxi to downtown Playa del Carmen 5th Avenue. And nearby Acumel beach to swim with seaturtles and rays.
Hotel has great pools and nightly entertainment shows and bands in an outside plaza. The food varied it was great in the themed restaurants like French/Asian and typical wide variety in the buffets - great wood fired pizzas. The rooms are 3star - hard beds and lumpy pillows (strongly suggest you bring your own pillow) The bathrooms were large with jacuzzi but the showers were not good, they were too small and the had low water pressure. The beach was beautiful. Also the minibar only has soft drink and beer, no spirits.

Great place to enjoy a perfect beachPosted Nov 17, 2014
Pros: Staff was attentive and friendly. The food is good especially if you like Mexican cuisine, and it's a very safe, secure area.
Cons: It can be a little noisy on the beach for my tastes, but lots of empty space to get away if needed.
Location: A great beach is the main attraction - still, warm water anyone can get into and enjoy. Playa is close by if you need to get out and about.
I don't stay at all inclusive resorts all that often, but I have come to Sandos Playacar twice now. It has a beautiful beach in front of it - very still clear warm Carribean water right outside your door if you get the ocean front room. Everything else you need to stay on that beach chair under the palm trees is there - good food, drinks, towels, etc. It's the last place south of Playa Del Carmen, so you can walk for several miles down the beach with only jungle past the sand, which gives it an open uncrowded feel. There are lots of activites, but if you want to just unwind on the sand it is a great place.

October TripPosted Nov 3, 2014
Pros: The variety of restaurants.
Cons: More ability to control room temperature and softer pillows and beds.
Location: 3 miles from Playa del Carmen. We could parasail, make arrangements for Cozumel, or any excursions.
There were 17 of us there at one point. It was an easy resort to find people and things to do. We attended a friend's wedding on the beach and it was a beautiful wedding setting and ceremony. We had many days of rain, but we still found fun things to do. I like the location as I could walk to Playa del Carmen. Great beaches to walk and area to play in the ocean. The staff was amazing in all areas.

Nice Beach and close to town!Posted Oct 30, 2014
Pros: Food was good. Drinks were strong and there was a good variety.
Cons: Some of the rooms need some improvement. However the grounds of the hotel are very well maintained and clean. Easy to get around the hotel and find pl
Location: Very close to 5ht Ave.
I just recently stayed at Sandos Playacar. The hotel staff was very pleasant. Everyone was helpful!! The food was good for an all inclusive. We had no problems getting into any of the restaurants. The Mediterrean and Brazilian were amazing. The room was nice. We stayed at the rooms near the beach. Although we did not have an ocean view we still had a good view from where we were staying. Here are a few more specific pros and cons: Room: The room was clean. The bed was hard, but I think this is because it was on top a cement base. But it was sufficient. The size and bathroom were nice. You can tell it's a bit older room and there were small repairs that needed to be done but nothing major. Beach:The beach was amazing. The sand was soft and the beach area was large. We had no problems finding chairs on the beach. Food/Drink: The drinks were awesome and the food was good. Many of the alocoholic drinks were served in reusable plastic cups. The only reason we know they were reusable is because we noticed that some cups we got were a little dirty. Leftover lipstick stains on the rim. So maybe just check the cup or get a glass one. Location: The hotel is a 5 min taxi ride ($7 USD) to 5th Avenue. You can also walk. It's a bit of a walk but in a very nice gated residential and hotel lined area. The area was nice with stores close and many tourists around. I would stay at this hotel. Clean, reasonable and very friendly people.

Location: We had booked an excursion to Jungla Maya thru the resort and had a blast! Highly recommend it!
We were in a group of 14 and had a wonderful time! Food was wonderful and drinks were plentiful! We stayed at the all Adult section which was a bit far from the beach, but there are shuttles and golf carts to transport you if you don't want to make the walk. If you go out of the front of the hotel, its a shorter walk to the meeting point and beach. The coatis are everywhere in the adult section and will come right up to you! We were never bothered by anyone in regards to getting us to do the timeshare thing. The french restaurant was very good as well as service! Watch out for David E at the Adult swimming pool, although he made our trip special! You are greeted by the most upbeat person, Idris in the reception. Daniela was fabulous to work with prior to us arriving on getting things arranged for such a large group. A few others to name was Hever at the adult pool, Yasmin on the beach kept our drinks coming, Luis at adult pool bar didn't spare on the alcohol, & Manuel V kept our room tidy and always left us something special on our bed. There were so many more friendly people on staff that really helped make our trip enjoyable.

Incredible beach, and a Great PartyPosted Oct 15, 2014
Pros: Location, Service
Cons: Bring back the tequila reception like they have at Sandos Caracoal. Improve the sandwich and hamburger part of the lunch buffets.
Location: Swim in the Ocean and experience Riviera Maya an amazing place with wonderful friendly people.
Pros: Beach has no rocks great sand and perfect water temp. The Ala carte meals are outstanding (though the beef is not the quality americans are used to). Excellent service, lots of fun things to do for free (Zumba, beach volleyball and soccer, mini golf, video games, pool, air hockey, fussball, ping pong, computer access, sports bar and doing shots of Tequilla to name a few. Cons: the food at the buffets is fair to good and there is no air conditioning in them. The booze quality is poor but the quantity is endless. The beds and pillows in the rooms could use improvement. It is a big place and the walking bothers some but not us. The elite club presentation takes forever (3-5 hrs) so avoid it unless you want to come back every other year or more. Though the massages we got for going were great. We never went until this year when a member convinced us it was a good deal and ultimately we agreed, IF you want do a Sandos vacation almost every year. We decided we did. Conclusion: This was our 7th trip to the area and 4th to this resort so we finally joined the elite club, their vacation club which makes the Booze, beds, pillows and meals Much, Much better, especially the hard liquor. I think it will save us money when we come at the busier times Feb - early May and makes this a 5 star experience instead of a solid 4 star. For the money this is a great place, if you don't want to swim in the ocean go to Sandos Carcoal.
