Great for the price

We walked into the room and at first thought, "this is it?" After a the first 2 days we got use to it. There is a strange smell in each of these rooms that stains your clothes for a while after you get home. We washed out clothes multiple times and the smell does not go away. I would recommend hanging the clothes for overnight before washing them.

AMAZING TRIP!

Posted Sep 29, 2014
Cons: The bed was very hard and the room wouldn't go above 62-65 degrees.
We had an amazing time and loved the hotel. Luis at the pool bar made our experience a lot of fun!

Great stay

Posted Sep 24, 2014
Pros: The grounds were very attractive and we'll kept. Food quality good. Fun attivities.
Cons: Lighting in bathroom.
Location: Take a taxi ride to the town for shopping and local color.
Overall a wonderful trip. Room was spacious, staff helpful and the beach was phenomenal. Lots of great activities available and plenty of poolside or beach front places to lounge. Great yoga instructor and fun classes (Zumba , volleyball ) on the beach. Only negatives lighting in bathroom very dim and beds somewhat hard. If you like animals, they have some rescue cats that live on the grounds and donkeys and iguanas on their walk of health. If you don't like the heat and humidity, it may be uncomfortable in some of the restaurants as they're not air conditioned. The adult section is a good walk from the beach but trams are available, running every 10 minutes or so. All said, we look forward to going back.

Good food with awesome beach

Posted Sep 22, 2014
Pros: Beautiful beach and designated smoking areas throughout resort. But get to beach early to get spot in shade or you will be stuck in the smoking area.
Cons: Needs more palapas on the beach, needs better lighting in the bathrooms of the adults only section and better mixers for the drinks
Location: ADO bus from airport to Playa/Cancun, then Tulum, Xcaret &Xel Ha. Tulum Monkey sanctuary, Camel rides in Maroma Bch, Aluxe cave rest., Scuba Cozumel
The amazing beach and good food makes this the best all-inclusive we have stayed at thus far. While the adults only section is almost identical to Grand Sunset Princess, Sandos Playacar has done away with the reservation system for the a la cartes, as well as the dress code, which takes this resort to the top of the class, in this price bracket. Same terrible drink mixers as all the other resorts, though. Other than having very dim lighting in the bathroom, the room was identical to the Grand Sunset Princess junior suite. Recommend second floor due to mold and bug issues in all tropical climates. Recommend not too close to front lobby unless you like listening to the trash/recycling being picked up every morning at 6 a.m. Recommend select club so you can eat at the breakfast bar adjacent to the adult only section. Recommend steakhouse, Asiana and Mediterranean. Not the Brazilian. French was good. We probably did not order the right thing. If you are used to USDA grain-fed beef, you are not going to get what you are expecting when dining out of the country or on a cruise ship. Not this resort's fault. All the buffets were good and there is something for everyone. Really liked that this resort had lots of vegetables. I found that lacking at others We got around okay with our limited Spanglish on all four of our trips but I do recommend that you at least learn a few phrases to greet folks in Spanish as that is just common courtesy when visiting a foreign country.

Nice hotel, not great food

Posted Sep 9, 2014
Beach its beautiful but the food on the snack bars its really bad just burgers and hotdogs, no fruit, or good drinks everything tasted artificial different from other hotels. For me the beach and the food is critical so its a 50-50.

Great Beach with Good All-Inclusive

Posted Sep 9, 2014
The beach from the resort is amazing, it is the last resort and has access to all of the beach fronting the jungle covered land next to the resort. There is also a man made reef right off the beach that is fun and easy to snorkel, plenty of fish would be great with kids. The resort is nice nothing over the top but very nice. The staff is awesome and welcoming. The al a cart restaurants very from good to great and the buffet is nice for a buffet. The location is great you can ride into town on a bike in about 10 minutes, highly recommend doing as the tours booked in town are the same as the hotels sells but less than half of the cost for most.

Pros: Very affordable, great service and nice facilities
Cons: Disco opened very late and never on time
Location: Great location, beautiful water and close shopping
Hotel was excellent. Facilities were very clean and comfortable. All inclusive truly included everything like stocked in room bar, room service and all food and drinks. Adults only feature was great including separate pool, swim up bar and great staff.

Great Beach Bad Service

Posted Sep 7, 2014
Pros: The Beach
Cons: Service
Location: 5th Ave
My husband and I came here for our 5 wedding anniversary. This is our only alone time all year and we cherish it very much. Unfortunately this hotel really put a damper on that. Here are the major points that that we found issues while staying here: -Mold in vents - Rocks and tile broken all around spa pool area -Scaffolding was up during a paint repair with no workers around came crashing down right next to us. -Musty smell in rooms - The rooms near beach should all be redone, paint peeling, broken tv (that was NEVER fixed after 5 calls), etc -Horrible and I mean Horrible front desk service -Bad room service -Nearly Impossible to get beach/pools towels (had to put name on list and I guess you were charged if not returned that day) -Bad mixed drinks (only drink the beer) -No wait staff at beach Service Our first room in the Adult area face a wall. Like a wall 5 feet from you, we could not see anything else at all. And the adult section is the farest area to the beach. So far infact you need to take a golf cart or the shuttle van to get to it. We called and asked of we could change rooms and they said there was something available closer to the beach the next day. We called the front desk the next morning and confirmed our room change. We had a spa appointment that morning and we asked the front desk of we should pack and move now or after our appointment around noon. She said noon would be fine. So at noon we go with our bags to the front desk and are told
