Beautiful beach close to Riviera Maya attractionsPosted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: Location, beach, amenities and service all top notch. The room was nicely appointed and quite large.
Cons: Check-in staff needs to stress making reservations for al a carte restaurants upon arrival. We only got one reservation for a 5 day stay.
Location: Easy access to Playa del Carmen. The beach and pools were all top notch. Highly recommend going for a eco adventure in nearby areas such as Tulum.
Spent 4 nights at this all-inclusive at the southern end of Playa del Carmen (in Playacar area) in the Adult only section. Definitely a plus being in the adult only section as a couple even though it was a bit of a walk to the beach. The adult pool was great with plenty of shaded seating and the plus of a swim up bar and quick bites to eat. We did have to ask for a different room since we couldn't get into the assigned one. The second room was a better location so worth it. The food was tasty at the buffet restaurants especially the Italian one and the adults only breakfast buffet. The walk through the property was enjoyable but getting from lobby to lobby by van with a/c or taking the golf cart was a plus. The bikes were a nice plus and made it easy to explore the area. Taxi service was efficient and inexpensive from this location. By far the beach was a definite highlight and made even better with drink service and food close by. The staff was very accommodating and can't say we passed an employee without hearing an hola or buenos dias.

Beautiful beach, great place for a low key vacaPosted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: Adults Only section: nice pool, swim up bar, spacious room, pool side snack bar daily Beach: gorgeous white sands, beautiful water Cupcake Cafe
Cons: The adults only pool closes the bar @6pm & the pool @8pm - WHY? The bed was like sleeping on a sheet of stone. The food was plentiful, but not good!
Location: We did a day long Xcaret excursion easily booked through Bed Day Travel at the resort and it was totally awesome! 5th Ave was also a great night out!
We recently stayed at this property July 16-20, 2014 in the adults only section in a junior hacienda suite. Overall, our stay was very pleasant and enjoyable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The mojitos were great! It was an excellent place if you wanted a relaxing vacation, but not really a party atmosphere. The entertainment staff tried hard, but weren't all that talented. It seemed like everything sort of stopped at dinner time. When you first check in, you will see a Sandos staff member make a beeline for you from the left side of the desk. It will seem like this person is helping expedite the check in process, but actually he/she is going to hit you up to attend a "special welcome breakfast" for a 90 min. presentation to get you to buy a timeshare. We were polite and said we'd think about it. The next morning they started calling our room at 8am asking why we were not there. We said we were not going to attend. Later when we saw the women from check in, she gave us a hard time about not attending and made us talk to her manager who told us she would be getting in trouble because we chose not to attend the time share presentation. I was very offended that a resort employee would use guilt as a tactic. It was a big turn off. My advice is to say no immediately.

Great affordable all-inclusivePosted Jul 20, 2014
Pros: Room, adults only buffets and pool, spa, friendly staff
Cons: Beds were a bit firm
Location: Close to Playa del Carmen, Xcaret, Akumal, Puerto Morales. You can get to the local Walmart or Sams club in 5 minutes if you need affordable sundries
We stayed at Sandos Playacar for a week and had a wonderful time. We are a couple down for husbands 60th birthday. We booked a Riveria Jr suite in the adults only section with a king bed and jungle view. Huge room, big bathroom, jacuzzi tub. The staff kept everything neat as a pin. We spent most of our time in the adults only part of the resort, we had our own breakfast and lunch buffets. We also tried the regular buffets in the family section and a few of the a la carte restaurants. The food was not gourmet, but tasty and a good variety for most folks , much better than the last two cruises we. went on with Celebrity. The resort is huge, so be prepared to walk a lot or take the numerous carts and vans. We never waited more than ten minutes for transportation. Husband has a bum knee so we were thankful for this convenience. We tried out the spa facilities with the huge jacuzzi area and steam and sauna thats open for adults in the resort at no extra charge. We hung out at the swim up bar on several afternoons and enjoyed the great weather. If you are more into the beach they had a fantastic one. Resort is a taxi ride to Playa and 5th ave. We took two off site tours we booked ahead of time online.Staff was friendly and accomodating . This is the last hotel in the Playacar row and one side is nothing but jungle, you are not sandwiched in between two other resorts this was a big plus, lots of birds, wildlife, etc to enjoy. We would return in a heartbeat .

NOT an ADULTS ONLY resortPosted Jul 17, 2014
Pros: The rooms were clean.
Cons: Put liquor in the rooms and get rid of the children since this is adults only resort.
I booked this particular resort because it was an adults only. We arrived and there were kids everywhere.

It was ok, been and seen betterPosted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: Bartenders were the best thing about this hotel, they work hard but again understaffed at times.
Cons: The service and the food and the shuttle that takes you from the beach to your rooms. Need more waiters at the beach serving you.
Location: Great location the beaches are nice and is close to everything.
This hotel is very large and has allot of cool stuff and plenty to do, I think because of its size the service was ok, too many people and too large and way understaffed. Food was ok and drinks were good. Adult area needed to be closer to the beach and the walks from the room to the beach are way too far! Overall I wouldnt stay there again, Ive been to better resorts for the same price and way better amenities and service. Was never able to make any calls to my friends rooms because their system was down-which costed me allot of money in long distance calls and texts from my cell phone just to reach them. They would never provide me with 2 room keys, so my wife and I had to make way with one. In the end I would not recommend this place.

Cons: Entertainment shows could use some improvements
Sandos Playacar Beach Resort & Spa-Adults Only 1. Great beach, sand is very soft. 2. Staff is amazing! Very polite and friendly. 3. Bar is amazing even though they don't serve shots 4. Pool in adult section was also fun. 5. Great food! AAA (But make sure to make a reservations for a different restaurants at Meeting Point) 6. Nice entertainment programs! 7. Families with little kids would enjoy this place very much so. We loved it there! its best to try to get a room close to the sea!

Not what we expected!Posted Jun 21, 2014
Pros: The animals that wandered the grounds.
Cons: Customer service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The staff was not very pleasant, on one night it was 10 mins after closing at the hotel bar. The doors where still open and I asked if I could have a bottle of water. The bartender was extremely rude when I asked than made the statement its just a bottle of water. The Pool staff at the adult pool was the same way, they allowed someone to play there Ipod music and it was horrible, but they would let nobody else. Plus no bottle water at the pool, ever. You had to pull teeth just to get a straw at the pool. We vacation at least 3 times a year and I can say this was the worst hotel we have ever stayed at.
