You get what you pay forPosted Jul 19, 2014
Pros: There are a couple of other restaurants besides the buffet. We tried the italian restaurant and we were very impressed with the entrees and desserts.
Cons: The rooms need an overhaul. They are a bit bare.
Location: Very close to the 5th ave. strip where there are a lot of shops. Its a 10 minute walk from the hotel, or a cheap taxi.
Overall, it was not a bad hotel. The rooms were sparsely decorated, but I felt they were clean. There are a lot of chairs on the beach, but you have to get there early to get a spot. The water is beautiful and the sand is white. The beach is kept very clean. The pools are also clean and warm. The buffet food was a little above average, but there was a decent variety. The property does show signs of age, but its not too bad. We are not picky about our drinks, and we were completely satisfied by all the bars.

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BOOK!!!Posted Jul 5, 2014
Pros: The beach and location are great. The playacar area is the best and feels very safe and convenient.
Cons: make the hours better suited for the bars and add some staff to the areas. Actually serve what is listed at the snack bar. I could go on and on!
Location: If you get a chance go to the small Kiosk near Starbucks between 4pm and 9pm and find Angel (male) and take the whale shark excursion! It was awesome
If you have never been to an all inclusive resort you may find this one OK. If you have been to other resorts I am confident that you will NOT. This resort is small which is nice and we traveled with our 20 year old son and his friend which allowed us to meet many wonderful people. Past that the resort did not live up to any other all inclusive we have stayed at before. The food is poor at best and we are simple folks that don't need a lot and after speaking with many people at the resort everyone had the same feeling on the food. The hours for the bars are set up horribly wrong, the pool bar which has a swim up side and a walk up has ONE overworked bartender and long waits, the snack bar never had the items listed as offered, typically just hamburgers and hot dogs and again ONE cook and long waits. After 6 pm you can only find ONE bar open for the rest of the night and no food at that bar and a decent walk to get some chips or snacks. At the snack bar there is a soda machine with no cups to use. One must go get a cup at a bar and come back. If you want to get in the hot tub you must pay the premium wrist band. The beach is amazing but there are many other resorts close by with the same beach. We were only approached twice to participate in any games etc and never saw the listed activities for the day take place? Beach Olympics were posted every day and never happened. At one bar you have to ask for a cookie located behind glass... NO WAY IS THIS ALL INCLUSIVE!

Excellent hotel close to the beachPosted Jul 4, 2014
Pros: The staff, food, and access to the beach.
Cons: Cant think of anything.
Location: The location is awesome great beach and very close to Quinta Avenida. Its like a private community it has its own little shops, stores, etc..
It was an amazing experience will definitely stay again! The food was good and they had a lot of variety. Thank goodness there was also a snack bar that served pizza, hotdogs, nachos, etc which was good for picky children. The rooms were nice and clean. The staff was friendly and inviting.

Nice beach and pretty grounds. Needs food variety.Posted Jul 1, 2014
Pros: I liked the beach, rooms, grounds, ice cream parlor, drinks, afternoon lounge, shows and the hotel personal were all polite, professional and helpful.
Cons: Food choices and quality of cooking. Would be nice if entertainment team is more active and does more dancing and various activities with visitors.
Location: Location is great. It is located in the Playacar safe and gated community where lots of hotels situated and very close to 5th avenue and Starbucks.
We stayed there during the last 2 weeks of June. Weather was excellent. Not too humid and not too hot as there was constant breeze on the beach. We loved the beach for the exception of constant water sports in front of the swimming area - Jet-sky, flyboard, boats picking up people created constant waves and spoiled the air with exhaust and gas smell. When there were no water sports, it was lovely. Food was okay, however, we were getting tired of it as there was the same thing every day for dinner. Breakfast was good, you can pick and choose different things. Lunch was okay too, but dinner was the same daily and their fish wasn't cook well. And since I don't eat meat much, I had to stick to salads and chicken:) However, pasta cooked in front of you was good. But how much pasta can you eat? Their restaurants seemed both good. The fist time we went to Italian, we liked it. It was at no charge and we enjoyed the food. However, the 2nd time we went, the meals weren't as good and we had to wait too long to get our food. I don't know what it depends on, the chef? Same restaurant, same dishes but tasted differently. Third time we were really disappointed as we waited extremely long and didn't even have desert as we ran out of patience. The food was good at the Mexican restaurant both times we went, but there is a charge of $6.00/person if you don't have special bracelet and we had to wait soooo long to get food. So don't go hungry there.

Great small resort with a wonderful staffPosted Jul 1, 2014
This was our first time to Mexico and we had the best time!! The staff at the Reef Playacar is lovely and the travel agent on site was very helpful in helping us find places and things to do outside the resort area.

Nice place to stay but I do not recomend buy the all inclusive because the food is not good taste less, no much to choose from, every day They serve the same on breakfast, lunch and dinner, the snacks bars are little better than restaurants, after few days eating the same We went to 5th ave to eat.

Just ok...Posted Jun 28, 2014
Front desk people very rude. First night we got there they were over booked and tried to stick us three nights across the street... Not in a hotel on the beach and a small swimming pool. Eventually after two hours of arguing they found us rooms. They were not accommodating at all. If you upgrade your bracelets be prepared for them to be out of the good alcohol early in the day. Also a kid pooped in the pool while we were there. Enjoyed the beach from them on. I will say the some of the restaurant staff were nice. Overall I would not recommend or stay there again

Great price for hotelPosted Jun 26, 2014
Hotel was in front of the beach, staff was very friendly and I loved the trees, little water river and cave. It had a very exotic look to it.
